dandruff

Avatar m tn Right now, i have these red patches around nose, around my hairline and my collarbone. The ones at my hairline and collarbone are itchy. and Sometimes i feel itching sensation on random parts of body but no rashes. I also have dandruff, it's been 7/8 years with it, I use zinc pyrothine shampoo but it's temporary solution. My hair have been thinning, only recently it had me worrying when i saw bald patches around my hairline.
Avatar m tn dandruff, eczema, and tinnitus. Each of these show signs of some underlying allergies. There are skin allergy tests, blood (RAST) tests, and elimination tests. The latter can take many many months as you eliminate foods from your diet and body products from your regimen to see if there's a reduction in symptoms - most people are patient enough to do this, but is the least expensive. Good luck!
Avatar n tn There is still a little eczema on and around my eye, but I can live with it (though I hate it.) I have good days and bad days. The worst part right now is that I got eczema on the back of my neck, but the Elidel isn't helping! Oh, I also take Omega-3 Fatty Acids (odorless!) and it also helps.
Avatar m tn This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates and is aggravated by sweating and humidity. Topical antifungals and mild steroids are the usual treatment and combination of the two can be used to treat stubborn patches. Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. Please get this possibility also evaluated from your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Symptoms of scalp eczema may include greasy yellowish scales that may turn flake off along intensely itchy and inflamed red scalp. In psoriasis, the scales are dry, silvery or powdery, raised and moderately itchy. You should consult a dermatologist for an evaluation. Seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp can be treated effectively by using an anti-dandruff dandruff shampoo containing ketoconazole or salicylic acid or selenium sulfide.

Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dandruff, eczema or fungal infection. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar f tn It has always flaked and when I would scratch, tons of dandruff came off. Over the years, the size of the spot has gotten bigger and bigger and obsessive scratching has taken over my life. To me, I've always scratched until dandruff stopped falling. I felt better once it was all off of me, so to speak. Of course, guilt and shame often followed. My skin would be sore and I'd still feel dirty for doing it. I had tried all the regular shampoos. Head and Shoulders, coal tar, Selson Blue.
Avatar f tn I have scratched and picked my scalp for about fifteen years. It started with a spot on my scalp that may have been normal dandruff, or it may have been fungal. Who knows, but it's been a long road since. It has always flaked and when I would scratch, tons of dandruff came off. Over the years, the size of the spot has gotten bigger and bigger and obsessive scratching has taken over my life. To me, I've always scratched until dandruff stopped falling.
Avatar m tn ve had the same itching behind my knees and random itching on my thighs, legs and sometimes my buttocks could those random itchings be a form of eczema? how can i suppress it? and do you think a strict diet will prevent it from itching as bad? This discussion is related to Eczema.
Avatar f tn I suffer so bad from eczema so when i fall pregnant i end up getting it ten times worse due to hormone changes the only thing i can suggest is get a good moisturiser keep using it, it should get a little easier and a good tea tree or dandruff shampoo as these have good cooling down properties which should help itching good luck
Avatar f tn Is it just really flaky? I've been told massaging in oil and brushing with a baby comb can help. But all you can really do is wait for them to grow out of it. If it's bleeding it's likely eczema and needs to be treated.
Avatar f tn I have swollen glands, ear aches, head aches and back pain, the doctors give me codiene which hardly helpbut it returns again 1-3 months later. what could this be?
1641357 tn?1470495393 I'm almost positive that I have eczema on my face. It's itchy, dry, red, scaly patches on my face mostly cheeks and forehead, but also around the edges of my mouth and sideburn areas. Along my hairline and my head. I've always had a problem with dandruff and i'm thinking it's moreso eczema now than dandruff. While I was pregnant it all went away (which i LOVED!) but now it's back and my face is super red and hurts and I can't stop scratching it!
Avatar f tn The last few weeks my scalp his been itching something awful, it is centered around the crown. I don't have dandruff and dandruff shampoo makes it worse. I have taken to washing my hair once a week because it itches so badly. The itching is making my head hurt. Please help.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar f tn I have never had eczema anywhere else and this level of scaling only took place after the use of vinegar.

The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar f tn Symptoms can include heart arrhythmias and smooth muscle spasms (the kind you get with a stiff neck or low back pain), flushing, pain twinges in the intestines, diarrhea, and--guess what--eczema and/or pruritis. If left untreated too long, there are some who say it can also lead to panic attacks since apparently the body sends out adrenaline to help deal with the excess histamines.
560684 tn?1306712545 Weight gain and trouble losing weight (i have problems gaining weight) & infertility (well i'm a virgin so i wouldn't know). What do you think?

Avatar f tn My doctor recently told me that my dandruff was causing my facial eczema and since I started treating my scalp, it went away in both places. Do you have eczema on your stomach maybe?
Avatar n tn I have a red rash approximately 2 1/2 inches round in the groin area between my sack and thigh. It itches like crazy and burns every now and then. I can pat it off with toilet paper and it has a light brown/tan residue on the toilet paper that has a really nasty smell to it (thinking that it is sweat from my legs/scrotum rubbing together mostly since my job being in sales requires me to stand and walk around for almost 8 hours a day).
Avatar m tn that is how mine itch started out - occassional itch - almost like dandruff - scratched so much my itch turned to lumps, then bumps, then bumps filled with white puss, then i was diagnosed with hsv 2, then mrsa, and i have eczema. you might want to go to the dr.
Avatar f tn Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). You should also start some diet plan and exercise training to help you lose weight. Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
