dandruff

Avatar f tn i also have been having such an itchy scalp itchy underarms and on my breats and by my upper thighs in between my legs but not on my vagina i cant stop scratching..could this be a sign of cancer?... i have had this for 2 1/2 weeks now and am afraid to go to the doctor. My husband died of cancer and it started with swollen lymph nodes in the side of his neck and i am very afraid. could it just be lice or something simple like that? please help.
Avatar n tn Other causes include allergic reactions, arthritis, cancer, metabolic diseases, and an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). In your case if the lymph nodes are swollen then dandruff alone cannot cause it and it is caused by fungal infection which can predispose to dandruff. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist and get FNAC of the swollen lymph node done.
Avatar m tn I took it everywhere with me. It all started off with bowel cancer scare and which then moved on to lung cancer which I was reassured that it's almost impossible for a 21 year old to catch if no family history and I've never smoked In my entire life, and now I got a new freckle on the ball of my right foot which has scared not 2 lungs but 9 lungs out of me! I don't know why I think straight away worst case scenario which is now melanoma !

Avatar f tn If you have swollen glands in the neck region only and ear ache then it could be due to tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Avatar n tn then i started to develop light dandruff (white, very little grains) and seem not to manage to get it under control with normal dandruff shampoos etc. while googling dandruff i read that dandruff (but i assume heavy) can be a sign of hiv infection. then i started reading about scary high aids rates in portugal. especially as most new infections here come from hetero sexual encounters.
Avatar f tn I am 21 years old and overall I haven't been feeling that well. I have been having both stomach pains and major headaches. I've been having these stomach pains for almost 1 year and I've been to emergency rooms and and doctors offices and they tell me that nothing is wrong. However, the pain doesn't go away now I was doing my hair and felt a bump on the right side of the head behind my ear. I know that it is a sympton of cancer but I jump to conclusion quickly....
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff and tinea capitis need to be ruled out. The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. Because of the scratching that is involved with the condition it can become secondarily infected with a bacterial infection. Diagnosis is by clinical examination of the scalp as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination.
Avatar f tn I had a lump at the base of my neck swollen lymph node,"that just felt bad and worried me", it was tested and neg for" cancer but I had it removed anyway. It did not hurt, yours does. I would first take a picture of it (cell phoe behind the ear, click) so you can see it clearly to scrutinize it. Does it look or feel crusty, scab ? Blistery? Red? Oosing? Can it be drained? Cancer is a real scare so is MRSA.
Avatar m tn Hello, For dandruff, eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar f tn Hi, wondering if anyone has an answer for me. I used to get dandruff on and off and I used head & shoulders or others like it and it worked fine. This winter, however, my scalp has gotten extremly dry and itchy and flaky, and sore from all the scratching. I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy.
Avatar m tn Honestly i do not know when it started but i am always using my finger to rub on my scalp looking for something to scratch off , i have a serious problem with dandruff it comes and goes and sometimes grow over night. Avatar f tn I have recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was put on levothyroxine (about the middle of September). I went from taking 25mcg to 50mcg about three weeks ago. For the past two weeks I have had a terrible itchy and flaky scalp and have been using a dandruff shampoo but it doesn't seem to be working. Could this be a side effect from the medicine?
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 20 year old male. I have had a hard lump behind my right ear for years now...at least 4 or 5. It feels like part of my skull but it is not on the left side of my head so i know that it's not. I asked my doctor about it when i was younger and he said it was a swollen lymph node and should go away at some point. It never did, however, it also never caused me any discomfort so i never got it looked at again.
Avatar n tn Do you have tips on how to get rid of them? Natural and the cheapest way if possible, coz some of my dandruff sometimes results in minor wound like patches.
1486982 tn?1289461783 I have had an itchy scalp and dandruff. My hair is healthy and becomes oily very easily. I have picked up some Tgel, but wanted to know if nayone had any other options on what works. Head and shoulders does nothing but make my hair very oily. ANy suggestions woudl be appreciated.
Avatar m tn my grandmother died at 52 from ovarian cancer and when i heard about the talcom powder info i told my mom and she said that could make sense, cause she remembers my grandmother sprinkling it in her underwear almost every day. .. just a heads up! but i'd love to get any other solutions if anyone has any?
Avatar f tn Neck lymph nodes can be the result of tonsillitis, pharyngitis (infection of upper throat), infection in mouth, caries in tooth, internal ear infection, outer ear infection, eczema, dermatitis, dandruff, breast cancer, fungal infection, other cancers like lymphoma etc. If you had flu like symptoms initially then it could be due to infectious mononucleosis too. So if streptococcal infection is ruled out then this should be looked into.

1351676 tn?1301339436 Dandruff is common in cats of many coat colors, but very noticeable in black cats. My now deceased black longhair had dandruff at times, and I treated that with brushing/combing, which he was thrilled with, and a high-quality diet, which he was less thrilled with. A bit of flax oil on his food seemed to help, as did a "pet shampoo spray" I found in a pet store, which moisturized his fur and skin without the hassle of giving him a bath.
