Dairy allergy and joint pain

Common Questions and Answers about Dairy allergy and joint pain

allergies

Avatar f tn I posted here elsewhere, maybe you'll see that post, but food allergies is often the culprit. I get hives and skin rashes on my legs when I eat the wrong food. Also more joint pain when I eat dairy or gluten -- I THINK. Haven't really tested that theory enough yet but I think that's what's causing joint pain. Regular blood tests won't tell you anything about this and I don't know why medical docs won't recommend food allergy tests.
Avatar m tn I just want to know can anyone have an allergy at my age (24) and not since child hood.....I think I may have developed some kind of lactose tolerance or something, because the phlegm increses when I drink milk....so now switching to soya milk. Question: Can you have allergy anytime in life or has to start at childhood/birth? How do I test to know if I have milk allergy or all lactose problem?
Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The difference being in food allergy the IgE antibodies are increased. If symptoms are acute it can even be due to an infection, gastroenteritis. So, if your symptoms persist consult your doctor for an evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1691630 tn?1329366215 Hi- so I was tested awhile ago for a dairy allergy, and the results came out fairly high. The only symptoms that I get though are constipation, bloated/inflamed stomach, and sometimes slight trouble breathing (this symptom is usually only when my anxiety/stress is bad). I was curious if anyone knew that if you do have a dairy allergy, and you continue to eat it (if the symptoms are bearable like these), is it harming your insides?
709686 tn?1277432159 Symptoms are severe abdominal pain, dizzy, lightheaded, brain fog, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, weakness in legs and knees. At first I eliminated dairy and that seemed to help. Next came gluten, sugar and nightshades. Today for lunch I had grilled chicken, gluten free pasta with tomato sauce and spinich salad. About an hour later I was dizzy, confused, lightheaded, mouth sores and my legs really hurt.
Avatar f tn He told me that my white blood cells were too high and that is a sign of infection. I contacted the allergist and told her about it and said that it has nothing to do with it and that the treatment she is giving me is the way to go, that she does not think I will ever find the cause of the hives. That a change in my immune system is causing it but she does not know what! I am so tired of this and I want answers... Any ideas? Suggestions?
Avatar f tn Can food intolerances and/or allergies joint and muscle pain mirroring neuropathies?
Avatar f tn STOP drinking and eating all dairy products. I developed a dairy allergy when I was 17, so I know the feeling. Dairy products for some reason produce a lot of gas and bloat. Eliminate Dairy for 1 week and write down how you feel each day. If you are concerned about getting your daily healthy bacteria from yogurt, there are many other ways to get it. Take a Probiotic like Culturelle or Pearls.
Avatar m tn You're lactose intolerant, allergic to dairy products. I developed this same allergy and had to completely eliminate dairy from my diet or I would get sick. Yes it *****, but you have to listen to your body. Look at it like this - someone with a fish or peanut allergy avoid those foods because their body will reject them and effect the body negatively. Well, that's what dairy does to you.
Avatar n tn I found out my son's milk allergy triggered his hsp. He had severe joint pain that didn't go away, after his HSP "eased up". Completely omitting dairy for him, has solved ALL problems.
Avatar f tn I have been extremely tired, do have bone and joint pain, and have been having terrible night sweats. I drench the sheets. My thought it was perimenapause. I'm 44. Any have any info they could share with this or thoughts? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have dairy allergy but have a hard time staying away from ice cream. It seems like when I have eaten a dairy product I have a problem with frequency.
Avatar n tn She sometimes feels fine with little pain and sometimes unbearable joint pain and can barely walk. The hives come and go also. We went to ER and doctors and ran a lot of blood tests and took chest xray and knee xray and everything appears to be "normal". She has been dealing with this for about a week and they told her to take motrin and claritin. I don't know what to do. Making an appt. to see rheumatologist as soon as possible. If anyone has any answers please help!
709686 tn?1277432159 About an hour later I became dizzy and lightheaded, chest pain and every joint in my body hurt and had all kinds of muscle. This lasted 5-6 hours...it was misserable. Over the past 7-8 months I have changed my diet to eliminate gluten as this protein can cause all kinds of inflamation and other problems. Well all of my meals have been gluten free which is why I am so frustrated as to my pain situation.
1198633 tn?1341182388 We do have to read all ingredients and are very strict, and it does take time, and is kind of a pain, but worth all the effort. When things were at their worst for my son, and we didn't know milk was causing all his problems, he did have lots of abdominal and back pain too. He was diagnosed with HSP. We were told his immune system was attacking itself, and his kidneys and intestines, that's why he was in so much pain, and it was to go away on it's own.
Avatar f tn Try laying off or at least cutting down while you are pregnant and then slowly add it back in to your diet afterwards. If you decide to breastfeed and you start dairy back into your diet and you notice your baby getting eczema, it could be a sign that he/she is allergic/intolerant.
Avatar f tn My throat closed. I got steroids and the hives got better. Then the joint pain kicked in. My hands and right shoulder were so painful I couldn't use/move them. The symptoms would go away and return (the joint pain not hives). My shoulder hasn't bothered me lately but my hands and fingers still hurt. Did this happen to anyone and can you offer any advice? Thanks.
1875073 tn?1320454493 You may benefit from stopping dairy for the first six months or so and then try adding back a little dairy and see how it goes. But you would be off gluten for life. I was 45 years old before a doctor finally figured out I had Celiac disease, so don't despair.
Avatar f tn Hello, The rash that you are having and the joint pain can be related as in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The rash can be due to psoriasis which causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin.
Avatar n tn Finally senior year of college my friend suggested that I might have a dairy allergy when I felt ill after eating an ice cream. Also some face washes make my skin break out, but I haven't quite figured out which ingredient does this. Then a couple of years ago, and it would always happen after eating a large meal (usually out at a restaurant), I would wake up in the middle of the night with my heart POUNDING. It would last at least an hour and breathing slowly would not calm it down.
Avatar f tn Milk allergy is very common. It causes a variety of symptoms from splitting headaches, tinnitus, skin irritation, asthma, wheezing, breathing problems, sore throat and gastro-intestinal/stomach problems. Imagine ingesting poison ivy. The body reacts everywhere it touches. Same with milk - it's NOT lactose intolerance, it's true allergy. Allergies get worse with exposure, not better so be sure to eliminate dairy products from everything!
2088782 tn?1333221786 seeing an Allergist today. The reaction to the dairy is getting worse. Tightness in mt chest and cough , of course the runny nose and headache and blurry eyes when I eat or drink anything I am not supposed to. When I remove the dairy of any kind I am perfect though... ahhh very frustrating but at least now I know I am not crazy.
Avatar n tn She had a bladder infection and was just finishing an antibiotic when her rash showed up it quickly turned into severe joint pain and hives. The joint pain would migrate from one spot to another. One day she can not walk and bend her knees the next she seems to be fine. We are going to meet with a rhumetoid specialist tomorrow. I would like to know what outcomes you experienced with your son.
Avatar n tn why do i get nightsweats, headaches, stomach pain and bloating after eating anything, heartburn...

168348 tn?1379357075 Garlic and onions are sulphur foods. People who have a sulfite allergy or sensitivity are usually sensitive to garlic and onions and eggs. For least common, I would name some that both a friend of mine and I have a sensitivity or allergy to: lettuce, spinach and dandelion greens. I don't know if I would call cinnamon an uncommon allergy, because I am sensitive to the stuff myself.
