Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel uk

cytomel

Avatar f tn m really concerned about finding a doctor that will test Free T3/Free T4, prescribe Cytomel, take my symptoms into account and ignore TSH. At six months since starting medicine for Hashi/Hypo, we moved to London. At the time, I was taking T4 only. On my first visit/labs they reduced my T4 dose based exclusively on TSH which was in range (.8), but they wanted my TSH over 1.
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist suggested that Cytomel may help some with depression and also with the tiredness and sleepiness I have had for years.I went to internet and read about hypothyroidism and how it often is undiagnosed due to normal blood test. Well I was uneasy about the Cytomel at first but when i saw how many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism I have I wondered if that isn't my problem. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia also and wondered if that has anything to do with the thyroid.
Avatar m tn That is incisive and decisive. Thank you. I've tried familly in UK but they can't get cytomel without prescription. I'll try US now.
171867 tn?1271044148 I feel my body is not converting the t4 into T3 if I up my meds I become breathless, and addiing cytomel makes me feel like I gonna have a herat attache with pressure! Avatar f tn I am wondering about armour thyroid as I have actually taken it before, albeit not very successfully, as a few years ago I saw Dr Peatfield in the UK as I suspicioned that my symptoms were caused by my thyroid. He started me on armour and after 2 weeks on 2 grains I noticed a definite improvement - my head felt clearer and I no longer needed to sleep in the afternoons. But it only lasted a few days and then I was back to square one again.
Avatar n tn 75 Levoxyl and 25 Cytomel, My range is optimal. I took extra with me, from the States to the UK, where I am looking to live, or possibly France, as I have EU citizenship. USPS attempt to ship meds returned to the States. I will investigate DHL with Endo statement, labs, documentation. In the interim, NHS informed me they do not prescribe those brand names.
Avatar f tn You seemed to have isolated the palps to the Cytomel. Why not try to stay off Cytomel and try increasing your Levo again? If take Cytomel once a day maybe try taking it mid day?
Avatar f tn Starting you out on 20 mcg of Cytomel (T3) is way too much! Most doctors will always start a patient out on 5 mcg per day to start, then work their way up from there according to what your labs say. Your Free T4 is only a 13.7 and you need more T4 in order to convert to T3. Most feel best when their T4 level is mid normal range and their T3 level is mid level to high normal range. You are very low normal range for T4 and below the normal range for T3.
Avatar n tn TSH: 0.02 (L) T3, Total: 83 (76-181 ng/dL) T3, Free: 3.3 (2.3-4.2 pg/mL) T4, Free: 1.0 (0.8-1.8 ng/dL) T3, Reverse: 6 (8-25 ng/dL) Vit B12: 511 (76-181 ng/dL) Vit D, 25-OH, Total: 37 (30-100 ng/dL) Switching to NatureThroid he prescribed to start: 975.5 Would that be equivalent to what I am on now, which is getting closer but not yet there? This Dr.
Avatar m tn so good of you to answer quickly FT4 1.91 (0.71-1.85) FT3 2.84 (2.0-4.43) TSH O.14 (0.49-4.67) These are from Feb 2.
Avatar n tn s own because I started to realize that *I* need the Cytomel. I have since gone back to Levo and Cytomel with a switch up in ratio between the two based on MY needs. I like Levothyroxine the best and have (I think) finally found where I should be (pending lab confirmation...). But having no thyroid, (I was never on replacement meds prior to TT), it is my feeling that you need a combo of T3 & T4.
Avatar m tn T3 1.47 (1.30-2.60), T4 11.8 (9.0-19.0), TSH 2.52 (0.32-5.00). Ok, as I said before I don't think everything is quite right, so I'm wondering if to ask for the medication (Cytomel- T3) to be upped. Should I ask for other vitamins/ minerals to be tested? I was thinking about magnesium but I was reading somewhere that the blood tests for this might not be accurate because the body will always make sure it has enough in the blood and will even leech it from the bones....
Avatar f tn June 2017: (Dr.Mai) 125mcg Synthyroid 5mcg Cytomel. Felt much better with the added 5mcg cytomel but I still would like med increase my weight won't budge and my body pains are terrible. FT4 - 1.62 (0.93 - 1.7) T3 - 121 (80 - 200) TSH - 0.812 (0.27 - 4.20) With 5mg of Cytomel added.
696092 tn?1238616767 so what questions, in your opinions, should I ask? Here in Pembrokeshire, UK, it is not routine procedure to test for T3, should I ask for a test? Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
