cytomel

1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?
744962 tn?1270942038 I was on 50 mcg levothyroxin and10 mcg cytomel and I took the cytomel in 2 doses - the first with my levothyroxin first thing in the morning, the second about 10:00. I should tell you that MY "first thing in the morning" is at 3:00 am......... So the second dose of cytomel was approx 7 hrs after the first and that seemed to get me through the day okay.
Avatar f tn What is the reference range on your FT4? Ranges vary lab to lab, so you have to post the two together. Did they test your FT3?
1058524 tn?1285187240 I can't take Cytomel past one pm or I can't get to sleep until midnight. That stuff is strong. I suggest taking it earlier, and then breaking the 25 into three or four doses. Maybe 25 in the am. 12.5 before lunch and 12.5 before dinner. Also, I don't think you will feel your best until you get back on the Levo. How long until you are finished with treatment and can get back on the Levo? I am thinking of quitting my Cytomel and just going with the stronger Synthroid.
798555 tn?1292787551 Seems to be very consistent, even though I keep my supply in the fridge for a year or more (each bottle has 500 tabs, which is a year and a bit's supply for me. My TSH is very low, which does worry some docs. But my FT3/FT4 are right where they should be.
Avatar f tn My parathyroids were probably stunned after the surg, but I was on max dose calcilm citrate 2 tabs with D every 6 hours for 3 weeks. Now I take 2 tabs 3 times a day. Never had any tingle of symptoms. Saturday I will be taking 2 tabs 2 times a day for life, also 1000 IU of vit D additional .
Avatar f tn Hello, I just started taking Liothyronine 5mcg twice daily generic for cytomel on Sunday 8/2, today Monday I feel nauseated and have had a little diareha. Could it just be from the first day of taking it? Does anyone else experience nausea at first and then go away?
Avatar n tn The reason I believe this is because within 30 mins to 1 hour of taking cytomel (which is T3 only) I stop itching. This typically happens late day or at least afternoon. There are times I have to take cytomel to sleep becaue the itching keeps me awake.
Avatar m tn She declared me Hyperthyroid and wanted to cut my levo back and stop Cytomel. I agreed to stop Cytomel but became very resistant to lower levo. I have since been at 0.15 Synthroid for three weeks and have enough energy to feel normal. I still have RLS and less burning in my feet. It's true what they say about endocrinologists, they live by the TSH test. I asked her how my T3 and T4 could be in mid normal range and still have a TSH below 0.1. Her reply was t3 and t4 are unreliable.
Avatar n tn The only way you're going to know whether the 75/88 2 days/week, with the 5 mcg cytomel will work, is to try it and see. If you're taking a full 5 mcg/day of cytomel, maybe you could drop back to just 2.5 mcg/day and see if that helps. Once you get used to it, you could add back in the other 2.5 mcg. My generic T3 tablets are about the same size as the cytomel tabs. I've never had a problem with taking the generic T3 med, except from one manufacturer...
Avatar f tn Ask for the cytomel in 5 mcg tabs - then you can split the dosage much easier.......Mine are 5 mcg, which worked out perfectly when I was on 10 mcg/day - I could take one first thing in the morning, then another later in the morning, without having to split pills. Now that I'm down to 5 mcg/day, I still don't have to split the pills - they just last twice as long......... To get the 12.5, you will have to go with 1.5 pill twice/day, unless you can get it dropped to just 10 mcg/day.....
1518372 tn?1291011648 I don't have a thyroid anymore.. my synthyroid script cost me about $220 a month w/o insurance.. y can't my Dr just prescribe me cytomel.. right after my surgery I was on 25mcg cytomel twice a day and have never felt so normal in my life with the clearity in my head, the energy I had, the motivation I had to do things, the ability to listen to my Bio rhythm and go to sleep at a decent hr and wake up at a decent hr but ever scence then I have never felt that and yearn for it..
Avatar f tn I was taking 50 MCG Synthroid and 4 tabs of Cytomel 5 mcg. My last labs were is Sept 2014 (below) and my endo called me and immediately told me I had shifted to hyper and asked me to bring down my cytomel. The thing is that I can't remember if she told me to adjust my synthroid. :( I know, foolish. My job has been consuming ... I remained at one synthroid per day.. with one cytomel in the am and another in the pm. My Sept 2014 labs: TSH 0.14, T4 Free 0.6, T3 Total 63.
Avatar m tn I`ve heard so much about Stress Tabs and was wondering if they help ? If not what would help ?
277535 tn?1218136198 It may be that taking a slightly lower dose (ie 112mcg 6 1/2 tabs / week rather than 7 / week) may beneift, esp if you are experiencing agitation with the increased dose -- discuss w/ your endo. T3 therapy (ie using a low dose of cytomel) is usually not very helpful, but exploring this may be worthwhile.
1004097 tn?1251117610 I take Benazepril for my blood pressure and am on a combination of levothyroxin (T4 med) and cytomel (T3 med) for the hypothyroidism. I take my levo first thing in the morning (which for me is 3:30 am), then I take the cytomel about 7:00 am to help me get through the day. I take my blood pressure med at the same time I take my cytomel, but benazepril is not a beta blocker, it's an ACE inhibitor. T4 and T3 meds are NOT the same thing.
252327 tn?1250183976 t converting my t4 into t3, So today my doctor added cytomel 25mcg, should he have lowered my dose of synthroid? Is it ok to take the same dose with cytomel? I have hypothyroidsim and hashimotos.
Avatar f tn 37.5 mcg cytomel is too much to start with. Most of us start with about 5 mcg and work up as needed. Additionally, most of us find that splitting our T3 med into multiple doses each day works better than taking the whole dose at once. T3 is fast acting and out of your system in a few hours, so if you take it all at once, you get an initial "jolt", then before the day is over you run out and risk crashing.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
