Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel suppression test

cytomel

Avatar n tn Hi quick question due to my symptoms my endocrinologist decides to put me on Cytomel along with my synthroid. 3 months ago these were my results. T3 feee was 3.0. Standard range for my lab is 2.0-4.4. My TSH was 1.09. Standard.450-4.5. Free T4 was 1.57 standard.82-1.77. These were my results before adding the cytomel. Today these are my results. T3 2.4, TSH 1.38 and Free T4 .99. I want to know if I’m moving in the right direction?
Avatar f tn 8) Endo wants TSH suppression for thyroid cancer. On Synthroid 112 mcg daily and 6.25 mcg of cytomel twice daily.
Avatar f tn I need a doctor that is great with cytomel, tsh suppression, hashimoto's, etc., I am sick of wasting my time with all these doctors that do not listen. Anybody know any cytomel friendly doctor's that are currently taking patients and working in or around the Seattle area???
Avatar f tn Very frustrated with doctor. On TSH suppression therapy for 7 years. New doc kept lowering meds despite good Free T3 Free T4. NOW, said if I change my med doses he cannot see me as a patient because I'm endangering my life. My TSH is very low, however my Free T3 and Free T $ are still on the very low end of normal. I feel like crap, but want to raise my Levoxyl and keep my Cytomel at the dose I'm at. Doc says NO, as A Fib is too real a possibility.
Avatar n tn 9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. I’m not familiar with Cytomel, will the addition of this medicine compensate reducing my synthroid? Will it help with my Simptoms? Thank you!
Avatar f tn m guessing so had my FT3 (if only endo ordered it)could I be sure.. and this is all while taking the 88mcg and 15mcg Cytomel (both test from May and June) new numbers will come in 6-8 weeks for Armour.
Avatar f tn I have never felt well since my TT and am wondering if i should try synthroid with cytomel or stick it out with naturethroid. Anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn So I am going to my 3rd doctor this month hoping to educate them in cytomel and tsh suppression, would you happen to know any articles or anywhere I can get my hands on something to download? I am running out of options and I need as many articles from viable sources I can get.
Avatar f tn usually your T4 med is DECREASED when Cytomel is started as T4 converts into T3 (cytomel) so you may be a little hyper at present. Get back to your Doc.
280485 tn?1249013844 I will try to keep this short, but I think I'm loosing it! I went to a friend's vacation home about 3 & 1/2 hours away from my home, but then thought I had to come home two days later because I "literally" forgot what day it was... and came home an entire day early! To an organized person who traveled almost to excess for business before I had my daughter about 5 years ago, this seems almost frightening to me. I had a TT in Sept '07, RAI in Nov.
Avatar f tn had me on 50mcg Tirosint and 25 mcg Cytomel am and 25 Cytomel pm. The Cytomel was adjusted from 5 and 5, to 20 and 5, to 25 and 5 to 25 and 25 over the course of 3 years. I really felt better with a pm dose, but still not great. My last Free T3 with old Dr. was 3.7 and she wanted me above 4. Then she retired. New Dr. looked at year old blood work and the doses and proclaimed I was on way too much, but my labs were not bad, so maybe a malabsorbption issue and set me up with a Gastro.
Avatar f tn results from thyroid panel is T3 uptake is 37.8; TOT T4 is 9.75; FTI is 3.69 and TSH is 0.031. I take .100 synthroid and and .05 cytomel once daily. I'm concerned about the low TSH level. What do you think?
Avatar f tn I have tried several doses of synthroid as well as several combinations of cytomel and synthroid but I am still not feeling better. After bouncing from meds to meds, after only being on them for a few months i decided to try a new approach....I changed Drs. This new dr. Recomended that i stay on my meds for six months before reassessing and changing meds.
Avatar m tn I could guess that you are on synthroid (or generic levo - T4), plus cytomel (T3 med) -- how much cytomel and why is your endo giving you a T3 med without testing your FT3 levels? Sorry to come back at you with so many questions, but can't give good answers without the right info.
905502 tn?1245176370 I was very concerned about taking decadron for the suppression test, but I figured I needed an answer and in spite of my apprehension I started the doses. By the 7th dose .5 every 6 hours for 48 hours, I was feeling great. No more aches, I felt I could breath better and I had more energy than I have had in a long time. It is now the 2nd day of no dose and I'm starting to get achy, neck and lower back pain, and breathing is OK. Why was I feeling so much better? Is this significant?
Avatar n tn Hello. I am currently on 125 mg of Synthroid and 2.5 mcg of Cytomel. I began to feel a little hyper, which is how I have felt pretty much on any Cytomel. My results are below. Can I please get your opinion on the lab results? Also, can you please tell me approximately what the Free T4 should be? Thank you so much.
Avatar n tn confusion, intense muscle cramps, joint pain, carpel tunnel, stopped exercising, lowered synthroid to 137 mcg, added cytomel 5 mcg 1x a day, then cytomel 2x a day, TSH goes to .07. I lowered on my own 137 mcg synthroid 3x a week cutting 1/2 4 days a week...skip one dose a week for 4 weeks, TSH goes to .20...still feeling terrible. After cutting up synthroid, potassium starts to rise, but TSH drives back down to .12 and T4's go from 1.7 to .7. During all of this potassium drops from 5.
