Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel strengths

cytomel

Avatar f tn I remember starting on Synthroid and Cytomel in the beginning and worked my way up to 175 mcg Sythroid with no more cytomel. Did fine for 4 year until my endo decided I looked heavier and upped me to 200mcg and in a couple of weeks all hell broke lose and I'm fighting for life now and scaed as hell. I was so hyper that another endo said if I had still had a thyroid I would have been in a Storm. After that I became hypersensitive to meds, food, chemicals, etc.
1755386 tn?1312584941 I recently started taking 5mcg of Cytomel daily. I started on August 24th and have had no problem. I am also taking 125mcg of Synthroid. As you can see from my lab values that my T4 which is a total is way over range. I have faxed my doctor that I was concerned about that and could she lower my Synthroid. Of course as usual no response. Anyway today I am extremely nervous for some reason. Kind of like a panic attack. I have never had these before. I really don't like it.
Avatar n tn My numbers after 6 weeks on levothyroxine. Had total thyroidectomy last Apr. Have been on several different strengths of levothyroxine. Can't get it right. Tsh was 0.15. After 6 weeks on lower dose today reads 0.690. (0.340-5.600) MICRO IU/ML FREE T4 1.52 (0.58-1.64) NG/DL TOTAL T3 100 (87-178) NG/DL Any help appreciated.
Avatar n tn She has had me taking various levels of Synthroid and one Cytomel tablet daily for the two years I have been seeing me. She requests that I get my TSH tested nearly every 5 weeks and nearly every time the dosage needs to be adjusted. My sister and my dad both have hypothyroidism also, but they only have the levels checked about once a year. My question is: Does it seem normal that my thyroid meds should need to be adjusted constantly?
479481 tn?1219708409 just tried cytomel. lasted a month, constant headaches. hate it!!! Thyrolar will be back on the market, the question is just...when???
4359189 tn?1353351059 My doctor started me on 3 grains ( I think! I take 2 pills every morning). I was on .225 synthroid and 1/2 of a .25 mg pill of cytomel. I know it takes time but I was wondering what other people experienced with Armour compared to Synthroid, what tips you can give me, am I on a decent starting dose. I would really appreciate it. Thanks you so much.
Avatar f tn I have been on the latest doses for 6 weeks, and I am particularly reactive to lowering the Cytomel. There was NO release from symptoms until I added it to T4. TSH consistently below .04 since medicated. Have multi-nodular thyroid, which shrank with medication. No antibodies according to both types of testing, although my sister has Hashimoto's. I take BHRT. All labs from Quest. May 23, 2011 100 mcg T4 25 mcg Cytomel Free T4 Direct 1.1 ( .8 - 2.7 ) Free T3 3.
Avatar f tn It is the Pfizer website. They don't actively say it but when I was trying to find some explanation for my problems, I found their latest package insert at it listed 2 additional inactive ingredients that were not in the formula change since 2002, and my current package insert still had the old 3 inactive ingredients. So I investigated thinking this was my problem. I finally got someone after months to tell me the real story.
Business woman2 25, 37.5, 50, 75, and 100. Also, the extended release forms of Venlafaxine capsules come in many strengths too: 37.5, 75, and 150. Most of the tablet forms will contain Lactose and Gluten. Some of the extended release capsules do not contain neither Gluten nor Lactose. It will help me very much, if I know the dosage form and strength. We might be able to find you a supplier that do not use Lactose and Gluten in its Venlafaxine. Thanks and be well.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.

Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
407745 tn?1230850087 I am taking Synthroid 100 MCG & Cytomel 5MCG what happens when you have too much T3 ? i have been looking for a new endrcrinologis, the dr.
Avatar n tn d have to reduce the amount of levo and replace with an equivalent amount of Cytomel (1/4 the Cytomel for the reduction in levo, e.g. drop the levo to 100 mcg and add 12.5 mcg Cytomel).
252327 tn?1250183976 Before cytomel I was tired , brain fog, joint pain. Cytomel gave me no palputaions..nothing..
Avatar f tn I have been on thie Synthroid for over 15years. I have been on the Cytomel for about 10 years. I feel like the Cytomel is a waste of money. I was thinking about gradually dropping it to see if I notice any changes. I feel that 5 mg is hardly enough to notice a difference. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to stabilize or to notice the change. I have forgotten to take it on occasion and I don't notice a difference in energy.
Avatar f tn First day of taking generic Cytomel 5mg. Feeling tired after the second dose. Is this normal???
