Cytomel side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel side effects

cytomel

Avatar f tn In addition to the medications, there are fillers or binders in the different preparations that cause some people problems. We are dealing with a lifelong condition, so side effects, etc. are not something you just put up with for a couple of weeks like when you take an antibiotic, for instance. Furthermore, we are all different and have different comfort levels of FT3, FT4 and TSH. So, adjusting meds to proper levels is time consuming and trying.
Avatar f tn I could not tolerate the added cytomel. Had every hyper symptom and lost 12 pounds in two weeks. I stopped cytomel, and after 3 days I have tried to resume the 137 MCG of tirosint. I have been on this increased dose for 8 days. I am experiencing exhaustion, muscle aches, racing heart and anxiety with major crying spells. Should I just try to ride this out? I was no where near hyper in labs on this dose before. Is this just my body adjusting?
Avatar f tn I would say that any hypo type symptoms you have are not side effects of the dose increase, but are due to inadequate level of Free T3, compounded by excessive Reverse T3. Many of us have found that we needed Free T4 to be at least mid-range, and Free T3 to be in the upper part of its range, and adjusted from there as needed to relieve symptoms.
Avatar n tn I just started cytomel a week ago, I am on 5mcg twice daily, I have noticed now at exactly the 8th day that my face is starting to really break out?? Is this one of the side effects of cytomel, and does anyone know if Phendimetrizine is allowed to be taken the same time as cytomel??
988694 tn?1332359479 It has been more than two years dealing with thyroid medicine and I have not seen significant changes. I feel I am getting worse. if Cytomel does in fact give me side effects (allergies) I think there is nothing my doctor can do. He has been great. However my body is not cooperating. Thanks for the good wishes though.
Avatar f tn ll get past these side-effects I will keep taking the Cytomel. Do people commonly have these types of side effects at first? Do they usually subside?
Avatar f tn I have taken Cytomel or a generic for a number of years without any identified issue with it. From what I have read Cytomel is the only med with no known side effects. The symptoms that people report when taking it are most likely due to inadequate levels of Free T4 and/or Free T3, low B12, low D, or low ferritin. And of course you are now aware of the need for cortisol levels to be optimal, in order to successfully take T3 meds.
1040628 tn?1268654906 I am 6 mos post op (thyroidectomy) and I felt wonderful on Cytomel. The problem is my doctor switched me to Synthroid because he indicated Cytomel has a short half life and can cause "cardiac" side effects. In place of taking Prozac for depression, I was wondering why the doctor won't consider adding Cytomel to the Synthroid dosage so we can kill two birds with one stone.
Avatar f tn I would like to know if changing from half of .25 synthroid to .5 of cytomel causes my hair to become britol and break off? I was on half of the synthroid I mentioned, and my level was at a 4. The Dr. thought it should go lower so she put me on .5 of Cytomel. I noticed the weight around my middle seemed to have trimmed down some. I teach aerobics and really didn't have any of side effects except did get tired if I did too much.
327369 tn?1326119908 Just for info, I noticed something in the medical info that came with the Cytomel. It stated that Cytomel has no known side effects. How many meds do you know that can say that?
1139187 tn?1355706647 I was taking naturethroid for 10 days. Felt good at first, but then had really odd side effects. The worst effect was that my throat swelled up really bad and i couldnt breathe through my mouth and was diverting to my nose but my nose was clogged up so i was gasping for air. Also had really really bad thryoid pain which went away the day after i stopped.
Avatar f tn Well, the initial surge of energy most experience with starting T3 is not necessarily a good thing. Its actually a medicine induced hyper state that wears off as the body adjusts and hopefully turns into an alert but calmness feeling. If the cytomel does not give you any negative side effects, maybe that's a sign that good side effects are on the way. Changing to natural, no matter what the brand takes a while to get used to, that period is not initially comfortable either.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with hypo 1999 – had many side effects when trying to increase synthroid then levoxyl to get β€œin range.” Finally felt best being slightly hypo on 50 mcg brand levoxyl and 12.5 mcg. brand Cytomel taken each morning. Labs pretty stable until June 2010. My TSH went up to 7.75, had many uncomfortable symptoms, very tired, period twice in one month, hot and cold spells for 2 months which finally resolved after I increased my cytomel to 12.5 twice per day for about one month.
Avatar n tn And Is it possible to just add Cytomel in while taking the Armour. I am on 120mg now of Armour and have no side effects. I have taken as much as 240mg and still not side effects. Can you suggest what to do?
