Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel profile

cytomel

Avatar n tn You need to be on meds....I would almost say that I would ask for a t3 med only like cytomel, because yoru t4 level is so high. Just my thought...
Avatar n tn So I quit Armour about 9 months ago because I had a horrible reaction to the new formulation. I started back on synthroid and cytomel, but the cytomel made me feel anxious. I stopped the cytomel and had thought I was doing great. I feel better than I had in over a year, but I guess I was feeling so bad before that anything would have been better. I just got my blood test results which I found suprising. My TSH is .049, Free T4 1.52 (72% of range) and my Free T3 283 (only 28% of range.
Avatar f tn I have had Hashimoto's for years. Recently was started on 5mcg of Cytomel twice a day in addition to the 175 mcg of Synthroid that I have been taking. My cardiologist just called and told me that he had checked some thyroid labs along with his cardiac labs and that I need to contact my endocrinologist right away. My TSH is 0.07 and my FT4 is 1.58. Is this anything to be worried about?
299155 tn?1235489269 hello everyone. what exactly is cytomel? my background: on synthroid 125 with a tsh of 0.82. hair loss since first diagnosis in April of 07. I still don't feel like I am where I should be. NO WEIGHT LOSS whatsoever etc. Would cytomel help me feel better? Also, what is the thyroid Pub? Can I join? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Recent Thyroid Profile II showed my TSH to be way low at 0.162. My Thyroxine (T4), T3 uptake, Free Thyroxine Index and Triiodothyronine (T3) were all within normal range. I currently taking 150 mcg of Thyrosid and 50 mg of iodine. Should I decrease my thyroid medicine?
1500735 tn?1289248838 Hello all :) I need some help understanding my lab results. I don't have a thyroid gland and I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I have had 5 miscarriages and have a 2 year old. Honestly I don't understand theese results. Are they good or bad? I'm currently taking 150 MG of synthroid and 10mg of cytomel. Theese test were done by a gp not a endo.
Avatar f tn For 18 months I took Naturethroid but could not get my TSH suppressed enough without severe hyper symptoms(Total Thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer) so Endo switched me to Synthroid and Cytomel. I started on synthroid 150mcg daily and cytomel 5mg twice daily, then 112 mcg of synthroid and same cytomel, now 125mcg synthroid with same cytomel. My anxiety has been terrible, esp. since switching to synthroid.
Avatar f tn I haven't felt this good in years and really don't want to go off of the Cytomel. The iodine alone didn't seem to do it for me, but I do like the Cytomel and 'find' myself doing stuff, instead of trying to figure out how I'm going to get another nap.
Avatar n tn I just started cytomel (5 mcg x 2) but I am having very bad headaches. I cut my pills in 4 pieces to see if the headaches would get better but physically I seem to need the full 5 mcg to feel better. My eyes also look a little puffy too. Has anyone had headaches from this drug and been able to work up to a higher dose eventually? I'm also on 88 mcg of synthroid.
Avatar n tn I also started to become very depressed. I was switched to 112 Synthroid and 5 Cytomel. The weight stabilized at 142lb - great! However, the depression is still here, I still get tired, and my toes and fingers get uncontrollably cold lately. I also started getting slightly sick in the morning about an hour after taking the Synthroid. My last blood test showed TSH of 0.1mIU/L.
Avatar f tn About 5 weeks ago my doctor added 5mcg of Cytomel twice a day. My anxiety, lethargy, ADD, depression, and hair loss have really calmed down but I still have a low body temperature - normally in the 96-97 range and my weight hasn't budged at all. I also am so bloated all the time - I am so uncomfortable in my body. Do I need to be on a higher dose of cytomel or should I may be looking into getting tested for insulin resistance?
Avatar m tn I could guess that you are on synthroid (or generic levo - T4), plus cytomel (T3 med) -- how much cytomel and why is your endo giving you a T3 med without testing your FT3 levels? Sorry to come back at you with so many questions, but can't give good answers without the right info.
Avatar f tn I am also getting a sex hormone profile, vitamin and mineral screen done, too, to see why I am still tired and not getting a refreshing sleep every morning I wake up. The minerals being tested are: ferritin, magnesium and zinc. Ferritin I am aware was done very recently and was 12 (30-400) but I am with a different doctor and I think she re-ordered ferritin so as to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh set of results.
8256587 tn?1399897506 Sex hormone profile - not just the testosterone, FSH, LH and prolactin my endocrinologist carried out but I would like to include the ones she has *missed* - the oestrogen, estradiol and progesterone. I am sure there are others in there... Full mineral/vitamin profile - but excluding the folate, Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 which were done recently and including a full iron panel. Repeat thyroid test - why oh why am I experiencing hypothyroid symptoms AFTER I take the Levothyroxine?
Avatar m tn Do you have the range for your FT4? Ranges are lab specific so have to come from your own lab report. Did your doctor test FT3 as well? What were you taking prior to the 50 mcg Cytomel and 50 mcg Synthroid? When he d/c'd the Cytomel, did he change your Synthroid as well? Sorry to ask so many questions, but need to know.
Avatar n tn Do you think the pneumonia was related to the Cytomel? Why were you taken off the Cytomel? If FT4 levels are too high and FT3 levels are too low, you are still going to feel hypo since T3 is what your cells can use. If your doctor has recommended trying selenium, I think I'd follow his suggestions. However, I also think you need to add Cytomel back into your meds, which may necessitate your dropping your Levoxyl a bit at the same time.
171867 tn?1271044148 I feel my body is not converting the t4 into T3 if I up my meds I become breathless, and addiing cytomel makes me feel like I gonna have a herat attache with pressure! What do I need to do.. I am currently on levo 37.5 mcg a day except tu & fri 50 mcg levo... now I having cramping cant sleep breathless is kicking up,,, I am lost this has been almost 4 years now, I NEED to find a balance ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!! THANK YOU =)...
Avatar f tn I have seen 5 endocrinologists who all refuse to believe the symptoms that are right in front of their eyes and get upset that my TSH is below normal even though my FREE T4 is in the lower end of the range and FREE T3 is inconsistent and has been measured AFTER I have taken Cytomel, so the results are questionable.
Avatar m tn t seem to figure out how to get your message. It takes me to a page to set up my profile, not messages. Where can I find your response?
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
