cytomel

445949 tn?1222717490 She said to stop taking it, but I told I felt really bad and asked her if there was any thing I could do so she suggested I take 2 of my pills. I did and felt very nervous. She said it would not do any good to change medicine because all thyroid medicine is the same. I don't know what to do any suggestions.
988694 tn?1332359479 Does anybody know a T3 only medicine without fillers? I was added Cytomel and my NT was reduced to 2 grains due to RT3. So far feeling awful, but I am more concern, despite all the pain and discomfort I am in, about Cytomel causing me allergies. My nose is itching and I have been sneezing. I had a similar episode a couple of years ago and I quit it. I cannot do compound pharmacy since I have to travel and it is too much trouble. Any idea about an existent hypoallergenic T3 only medicine?
Avatar f tn My TSH is 9.08 and my T3,T4 is normal. is medicine required to treat it. can it be cured after having medicine. In my family nobody is having problem of thyroid so i can still hav or not. I am not feeling any kind of symptom. If i will not have medicine and to workout on regular basis will help me to treat against it. And finally why my TSH is high and t3,t4 normal. Pls suggest me something.
Avatar n tn 9, he decided to change my synthroid to 100 much and added Cytomel 5mcg twice a day. I’m not familiar with Cytomel, will the addition of this medicine compensate reducing my synthroid? Will it help with my Simptoms? Thank you!
723952 tn?1231857532 I was taken off of Cytomel yesterday. I just started on Dec. 31st. 50mcg twice a day. It was cauing heart palpitations. So, anyone taking Cytomel watch out for this symptom.
Avatar f tn I take Cytomel and Eltroxin for hypothyroid(born without one). Right now, I have a cold. A measly common cold, that I can't take anything for. I experience an incredibly rapid heartbeat and tremors when i take ANYTHING for cold or flu. My doctor told me to expect this. I've tried many, many different types, brands of cough syrup and pills, advils, tylenols but anything with a decongestant makes me feel like im on speed. Is this really normal?
Avatar n tn I thought a good compromise would be more t4 meds and 5 of cytomel along with a switch to a medicine that worked better for me before like Unithroid. I am having trouble with the current regimen he proposed and am right now only able to take 75 of synthroid and 5 cytomel instead of 10. I will go see him in a couple of days but given the labs I list below I just wondered if anyone here agreed with my assesment that I need to take more t4 and less t3.
Avatar f tn I was born with a goiter, had it partially removed when I was two days old. I was placed on medicine at a young age, and taken off in my late teens. I was sluggish a lot of times but the doctors had always said that I was in the normal range. I finally had a doctor who tested me for Reverse T3, and it came back in the high range. I was put on Liothyronine, 12.5 mg for the first two weeks ........then to 25 mg. I noticed a surge of power for about 3 days, now I'm back to the sluggish ways.
Avatar f tn ok just started taking cytomel w/ my sythroid and the doc gives me a script for vyanase which is basically speed. I am scared to take it b/c cytomel is also a stimulate. will this freak me out or what? i haven't taken the speed yet b/c i am so scared i will die of a heartattack!! anyone else on this? thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn My thyroid doctor determined high reverse T3, small amount of antibodies, and generally low range T3 and T4, TSH varied high to low. Gradually switched from synthroid to cytomel only, and after much better t3/reverse t3 ratio, added synthroid. I'm taking 25mcg cytomel (half in AM, half in afternoon), and 25 mcg Synthroid. I don't have my recent labs, however my TSH was around 2, T3 in the top of the range and T4 in the very bottom of the range. Reverse T3 ratio was perfect.
Avatar n tn Could going off of cytomel after so many years do this? I am on synthroid now (low dosage) and one cytomel (25 mcg). maybe it isn't enough. i don't know what to do. thank you.
Avatar f tn My sons TSH is 6.77 (high normal is 4). Endo started him on cytomel. He says he feels worse since going back to school. Very tearful, body aches, still needs sleep during day. When will he start feeling better? Started med 1 wk ago.
988694 tn?1332359479 Back in November I had these results, I was taking 2 grains of NT and something like 30 mg of Cytomel. I felt very nervous and anxious and could not concentrate, I had constipation, hair loss, bleeding before period, and headaches: TSH: 0.01 0.4-4.50 Free T4: 0.8 0.8-1.8 Free T3 4.2 2.3 -4.2 Reverse T3: 28 11-32 I started then taking 100 Synthroid and 2 and 1/4 grains NT. After a month in this dose: TSH: 0.01 0.4-4.50 Free T4: 2.2 0.8-1.8 Free T3: 5.
Avatar n tn I will be going for a I131 scan in December and my doctor took me off of my 100 levothroxine. He prescribed for me one 25 Cytomel tablet a day. At 2.5 weeks before the scan, I am to go off of Cytomel and not take any medicine. Someone mentioned to me that Cytomel wouldn't do anything since I don't have a parathyroid. Is that true and will my hypo symptons start? Generally when do the hypothryoid symptons start after you go off of them? Any help or information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn m really concerned about finding a doctor that will test Free T3/Free T4, prescribe Cytomel, take my symptoms into account and ignore TSH. At six months since starting medicine for Hashi/Hypo, we moved to London. At the time, I was taking T4 only. On my first visit/labs they reduced my T4 dose based exclusively on TSH which was in range (.8), but they wanted my TSH over 1.
1406230 tn?1281202564 you need to be on cytomel for your depression, it helped me and I have even researched that it is the hormone that is most needed after a TBI.
Avatar f tn suggested i take cytomel with my medicine to see if it should help work. does anyone have any feeback i would greatly appreciate it. i'm also on 50 m. of synthroid for 2 1/2 years and when i went up to 75 it made me more anxious... thanks i'm hanging in over here, but it's been a huge struggle and want my life back.
694885 tn?1232649948 Any generic T4 med is very inexpensive. However, Cytomel, a T3 drug, not so much. The Cytomel, to ease your mind, you will only be taking for a very short time. You take this prior to your surgery and pre-RAI only. Because T3's short lived in the body (about 4 hours), they can take you off of any T4 meds early, prior to surgery. Then they don't have to wait and weene you off post surgery and wait for RAI. Because of this, you will be quickly ready for RAI.
Avatar n tn When I was on Synthroid (50 mg) I was very depressed. The doctor added Cytomel, 5 mcg and lowered my Synthroid to 25 mg and I felt great for 2-4 days, but then it was back to being miserable. I then went to a different doctor who is obsessed with T3 and added up to 15 mcg Cytomel which made me feel like I had an electric shock running through my veins. QUESTION #1: Why did I get suicidal depression every morning when I was on the 50 mg Synthroid?
1369218 tn?1282423884 I have hashis, have had for about 8 years now. About a year ago I went on Cytomel too. My free T3 was low, so my endo agreed. I started with 5 mcg once a day and then went to twice a day about 4 hours apart. I started getting heart palpatations even though my levels were looking better. I went back down to one Cytomel. I then about 6 months later started with the heart palps again and diarehha.
Avatar f tn I had a TT on 7/18 (papillary thyroid cancer) and am on Cytomel, 25 mcg twice a day, pending a decision about whether I'm going to be given RAI. I do better on 25 mcg three times a day, but my endo is seriously nervous about that third pill, so I haven't been taking it at her request. The only other med I'm on is my long-established 10 mg a day of enalapril for high blood pressure.
Avatar f tn The fact that your depression lessens when on a thyroid medicine (T3 cytomel) would lead you to believe getting your thyroid levels optimized may have a positive effect for you. I too agree with Barb. 25 mcg of Cytomel is HUGE dose. And many people here have reported that they need to have a pretty narrow balance between Free T4 and Free T3. And yours are definately askew with FT4 very low and FT3 higher.
Avatar f tn OH my! 150mcg levoxl and 50 mcg cytomel is a lot higher dose medicine than the equivilant of 120 Armour, no wonder your having more palps! Not only that, but the cytomel to levoxyl ratio is higher than most, seems to me you need less cytomel. This is a rough estimate I have been on both types of meds (I am not a doctor). 120 Armour is about the same as 112 mcg synthetic T4 with 10 mcg cytomel per day. Are you sure on the amount per day of old verses new meds you take?
909086 tn?1242660764 25 mcg of Cytomel to start is huge! And, when you start cytomel your suppose to cut your T4 med back by 20 mcg I believe. Second...you cannot treat with a T3 med without testing your Free T4 and Free T3...that is how you dosage and treat. T3 will supress the TSH and you cannot go by this whatsoever when on both meds. You should be having a Free T4 and Free T3 done with your TSH EVERY time. Cytomel and generic comes in 5mcg dosages for easier dosaging.
Avatar f tn Nope! But it takes time for the medicine to settle the levels.
