cytomel

1355431 tn?1369975306 Hello all I need some advice on how to take my cytomel to get the best results. Let me start off my saying Im 31 and had a total thyrodectomy 2 years ago due to graves disease. Anyhoo since the surgery I have when hypo and have been feeling very sluggish and tired. I was on synthroid only up untill aug 2012. Now my doc has added 10mg cytomel also. I am suppose to take it twice a day. My question is whats the best way to take the cytomel?
299033 tn?1393301417 t think the calcium in the yogurt is enough to interfere with your cytomel. Are you splitting your cytomel dosage into more than one/day? Most of us find that it works better than way. You should NOT take calcium/mineral supplements within 4 hours of any thyroid hormone medication. I know you need the minerals for your BC, but can you start taking those in afternoon/evening? It shouldn't really matter when, during the day you're taking them, just that you're taking them.
Avatar m tn When you were on the Cytomel, did you split the dose? Are you taking the Tirosint at a different time of the day? Just trying to figure out this difference because it is not at all logical. Bottom line is that you have apparently found the magic bullet. Congratulations and I hope this continues to work for you for a long time!
186166 tn?1385259382 saturday morning was told that i could leave that day and was given my first dose of cytomel (25). within 30 minutes i felt "loopy" and my head started to pound. i am also to chew tums (3 - 3 x day) until i go for a followup in two weeks. i feel like crap and am not a happy camper...gggrrrrrr.
Avatar f tn m going to go on a slow liquid taper and it could take me about a year to get off completely. Problem is, my thyroid levels are not up to where they should be (low T3) but I am convinced that antidepressants are contributing to the sweat/hot spells I am experiencing with the ERFA and cytomel mix. Do you think the tapering will affect my T4/T3 levels? I am doing a 10% taper every month so it should be very slow.
1211076 tn?1303519440 t even tolerate the B12 shots..they make me anxious! My question is, can I stop the Cytomel and just take the B liquid..or should I stick with the cytomel? Today was my 2nd day of taking it and I just don't feel right. I see my GP this week to get the frees tested. I just feel like the endo is guessing at this point and trying to find a way to get me to stop complaining about these weird symptoms! I think he's disgusted with me because I just cant seem to tolerate alot of things.
Avatar n tn So, out of network, I saw a doctor willing to work with supplements and hormones and returned to a combo of Levoxyl/Cytomel, will bring in Selenium, some B12 and an Adrenal Support. Also recommended was a very small amount of liquid Iodine 1-2 x a week. Here are the past two labs and the medication doses I was on. Since the change to Tirosent and the increase to 30 mcg Cytomel, I am more tired. And can't seem drop an ounce of weight, despite a really strict diet.
Avatar f tn s common to adjust them both at the same time or lower synthroid when adding cytomel. Cytomel is a T3 only med and is about 4 times more potent than the T4 med (synthroid) and too high doses of either could very easily cause a swing to hypER. Cytomel is a fast acting med, but doesn't last in the body very long - so in effect, the doctor WAS raising her total dosage. Many people find that splitting the dose throughout the day helps.
Avatar n tn I am loosing excessive hair after taking a T3 cytomel cycle (3/4 handfuls a day) and have itchy skin around my neck and bellybutton I really regret it now. I went onto a body building website and brought it as i was so despret for weight loss. I did research on it and didnt think much of it as i followed instructions on how to dose it properly. Its the first time i took it and now i dont know wats going on can you please help me?
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
