Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel la pharma

cytomel

Avatar f tn Why are you switching if the doctor wants to add T3 in addition to Synthroid?
Avatar f tn He made a recommendation of another endo in Santa Monica and then quizzed me some more about my problem. When I told him I was taking Cytomel, he said that went against what any doctor in LA would prescribe and against anything learned in medical school ! When I told him of the cessation of my symptoms with it plus T4, and the normalization of my metabolic labs, he said that was highly unusual. NOT.
Avatar f tn Did he tell you to lower your Synthroid at the same time as adding the Cytomel? How much Cytomel did he prescribe?
Avatar m tn The key future market players covered are Novartis, Gilead Sciences, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., Cytheris SA, LG Life Sciences Ltd, Enzo Biochem, Digna Biotech, Daewoong Pharma and IRX Therapeutics" quote are from: http://www.informationbible.com/article-aarkstore-enterprise--hepatitis-b--pipeline-assessment-and-market-forecasts-to-2017-51853.
Avatar n tn My pharmacy uses generic Cytomel made by Sigma Pharma. Googled it a lot of people seem to have complained about it. I have some left from the fall made by Paddock but it won't help me much if my refill will be by Sigma.
Avatar n tn The only thing that can treat hypothyroidism is replacement thyroid medications, such as T4 medications containing levothyroxine (brand names include Synthroid, Levoxyl, etc), T3 medications containing Liothyronine (brand name Cytomel) and desiccated hormones that contain, both T4 and T3 (these include Armour, NatureThroid, WP, etc). Although there are plenty of articles online about "curing" Hashimoto's, there is no real cure.
Avatar f tn T4 generic and 25 mcg. Cytomel. I insisted on the brand. When I said that that seemed like a strange ratio, he said "Well based on what you said, your body seems to like T3 better." !!! I didn't know what to do except do it until the next blood test. He wrote a letter to my primary saying he wanted to take me off meds altogether if my TSH remained supressed. She shook her head when she gave me a copy of the letter. So I got the latest labs from him back yesterday.
581310 tn?1253029550 I posted the other day on this site. I was switched from natur-throid to synthroid and also cytomel. I think I am on to high of a dose. He started me out taking .88 of synthroid with 5mcg of cytomel in the morning then .75 of synthroid and 5mcg of cytomel in the afternoon. I don't know why he split the doses. Since taking both these doses for the last couple days I have been nauseous, headache, sweating, dizzy.
Avatar n tn I recently went to the doctor with blood work that showed a high TSH level. The doctor increased my Synthroid to .175 from .150. She would not discuss Cytomel and did not want to refer to an endo. She wrote an order for bloodwork in 8 weeks. Honestly, I am so miserable that 8 weeks seems like an eternity. I have no problem going through the internet and getting my own bloodwork done. It really isn't that expensive any more.
Avatar f tn I know what you mean. I was doing the best on Armour, but when I couldn't get it anymore my endo (who did not prescribe Armour) here in Texas wanted me just on Synthroid (or Levoxyl) My PCP finally realized that I wasn't converting to T3 after my tests showed TSH was finally down again, FT4 was ok, but the FT3 was below normal. Even with Cytomel, I didn't budge on FT3. So we're gradually upping the dose of it.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you are not aware of Nature- Throid. Is similar to the old Armour. Goggle there site, and tell your pharma to order it if you want to try it. If they say they cant get, they aren't trying to hard for you. On the other hand you dont mention your doc suggesting T3 Cytomel to use with your T4 you are on now...........? Do you know about Cytomel?
Avatar f tn they are trying to corner the market like big pharma has done for years with pills and such...
Avatar f tn Wow, congratulations Pharma on one year clean!! You truly are an inspiration and give us hope that this fight is possible to beat. Just look at you - ONE WHOLE YEAR - wow, it sounds like a lifetime to me now, but I'm sure to you it really IS a NEW life. All the best and cheers!!
Avatar m tn however, in your case it seems it would be easier to adjust FT3 and FT4 independently by decreasing your T4 and adding some T3 med. What happened when you tried Cytomel? I ask because Cytomel can be truthfully advertised as having no known side effects.
Avatar m tn Have you tried Nature-Throid or compounding pharmacies? It might be easier to switch from one dessicated brand to another. Synthroid will not be the same because it is a T4 only drug. Armour has T3 and T4. If you can't find any dessicated drugs, then your MD should have suggested a combo Synthroid/Cytomel.
