cytomel

Avatar f tn Thanks for all your advice. I didn't take cytomel yesterday so I'll see how it goes for a couple of days and go see my doctor.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I have been having pretty bad insomnia and anxiety after starting the Cytomel. Does anyone have advice on taking Synthroid with armour. I am afraid to switch completely off of Synthroid because when my T4 drops I get really achey. I also know that there is less T4 in armour or the dessicated version. Does anyone have suggestions so that I can get my extra T3 needed? I do not convert on the Synthroid alone. My last test results were: Tsh .999 (.45-4.5) Free T3 3.3 (2.0-4.4) Free T4 1.
Avatar f tn Hi, Hashimoto's for 18 years. Fluctuating TSH and on different Levothyroxine doses (never based on FT3 or FT4). Last labs: FT4-0.97 FT3-2.2 Taking .112mcg Levothyroxine. Just started Cytomel 5mcg (split in 2 doses am and pm) because I was having intense brain fog, fatigue, lethargy and weight gain. I'm having palpitations, insomnia, headaches and feel pretty anxious while taking Cytomel. The great thing is that brain fog is gone and I have more energy. Let me know what you think.
Avatar f tn I just picked up a 25mcg prescription of Cytomel. I already take 100mcg Synthroid in the morning. What's the best time of day to take the Cytomel? My dr. said in the evening, but I heard it causes insomnia if taken that late. Also, should I take the whole dose at once or split it in half?
Avatar f tn How long should I wait before starting cytomel. Backing down from 112mg tirosint to 100mg. Was previously on 100, but t4 levels were below midrange and t3 below. T4 levels now above midrange and t3 levels below. I tried starting 5mcg cytomel after 1 week but having issues tolerating it. I'm having horrible issues with hairloss too. My hair volume has decreased in half. Is that from the chronically low t3?? I have a history of not doing well with t3 meds.
1369218 tn?1282423884 They keep telling me I could take more Cytomel, but I am having really bad insomnia and anxiety. The more T3 I have taken has actually helped lower me on the T4. I really think armour could help me, but I want to get the right one. Thanks!!
1369218 tn?1282423884 I was having manic episodes and had insomnia I decided to stop one of the Cytomel and bump myself back to 150 of Synthoid. My Free T3 got lower, but I could sleep again and not feel manic. I have suspected for a while that it may be my adrenals. I had an elevated test that indictaed non classical adrenal hyperplasia, but the ACTH came back normal. I found out later though it was not done correctly. It is supposed to be done by IV and mine was injected. I do not tolerate T3 well.
Avatar m tn I take cytomel 25mcg. A few months ago TSH shot to 42. I raised from 18mcg to 25mcg. TSH went to 5.6, FT3 7.0 ( 2.0-4.4), T4 5.5 (4.5-12.0), RT3 8.6 ( 9.2-24.1), and Antithroglubin Ab 2.2 ( 0.0-0.09) Am I taking too much cytomel? N.P. wants to cut it back an add in T4, which I've never done okay with.
Avatar f tn I take my levoyxl at 5 am, I guess I can add the 5mcg of cytomel then and take the other 5mcg of cytomel at 2pm like you suggested. Do you think that would be alright?
Avatar f tn How would one know if they're getting too much Cytomel (T3) ? Are there things to watch for before I get my next set of Blood tests done? How long should I give T3 before I give up? I'm so darn tired I just want to crawl in a hole. I'm currently using 12.5mcg of Cytomel and .75mg of Synthroid since July 14th. Help!
Avatar m tn I have been on a Synthroid/Cytomel combo for 10+ years, and it has worked great for me. The only possible side effect was that my resting heart rate was running 90-105 for the last few years. Over the last year, I've been slowly building up with new hyper symptoms and annual lab tests confirmed that my T3 level was too high. Most frustrating symptoms are heat intolerance, insomnia, and lifestyle-altering anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have now been prescribed a lower dose of synthroid (100mcg) once a day, and 5mcg of cytomel 2x a day since my conversion was not doing well. My question is how do people take cytomel twice a day when you also have to take iron and calcium? I can take the first dose in the morning on an empty stomach with my synthroid and wait half an hour to an hour before breakfast. I usually take my iron at lunch an calcium at supper.
1369218 tn?1282423884 77) I am being told I could bump up the T3, but I am having terrible insomnia and anxiety. I stopped taking 1 of the Cytomel last week and now I am starting to feel achey and irritable. I want to switch to armour or the compounded version, but I am scared it will not give me enough T4. My last doc said that armour does not contain enough T4. What does anyone think about this? I do not convert to T3 well so I know I need it.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I take Synthroid first thing in morning and Cytomel a few hours later. When should I do labs to check thyroid? Before any pills? Or does it matter if I take Synthroid?
Avatar n tn 08, diagnosed with microscopic papillary carcinoma. Felt fine for a couple of months and now I am very tired, insomnia, and right neck pain. I take cytomel 5mcg and synthroid 0.125mcg. I also have fibromyalgia , RLS, and Hashimoto's and gained 5 lbs. I just feel miserable!! Does anyone has any advise?
Avatar n tn I was so excited to finally find a doctor to listen, and considerfr adding the T-3 to my Synthroid. The 5 mcg 2 x daily generic Cytomel he added, to my reduced from 100 mcg to 88 mcg of Synthroid, was way to much, with heart palpatations and breathing distress. So we cut it to 2.5 twice daily, mostly only once a day. I found increased anxiety, insomnia and irritability somewhat tolerable, although uncomfortable and was striving to deal with this.
Avatar m tn decided to add cytomel 15 mcg...I was experiencing mood swings uncontrollable crying and nightmares... I gained about 5 pounds more with this drug ( I swear it made me hungrier than normal) ...so my Dr. adds Welbutrin XL 300 mg to regulate my mood and help with the crying jags I guess ...now I am experiencing insomnia, trembling hands, ringing in the ears and instead of helping I am getting awfully agitated at times....someone please help!! I feel like I am on a roller coaster...
Avatar f tn I have brain fog, memory issues, depression, fatigue and at times insomnia. I am getting very frustrated. My Endo has not even checked my T3 levels. I have done lots of research and am reading alot about Cytomel. I need to find an Endo in NJ, who for one will check my T3 levels but also prescribe me Cytomel at least on a trial basis and see if my symptoms improve.
Avatar n tn I have had Hashimotos hypothyroidism for 10 years now, and am taking 125mcg levoxine per day, i recently saw a programme about Cytomel being used for a sleeping dissorder, if i ask my GP to see if he thinks it may suit me , would it help to decrease my tiredness and improve memory lapses,
Avatar f tn I started having swelling, weight gain and joint pain and the night sweats and insomnia came back. I convinced my doc to allow me to add an additional 5mcgs generic Cytomel to see if it improved things. Had been on this 3 days when I started again with a pounding rapid heart rate when trying to sleep and today feel somewhat jittery, but have not slept much in 7nights now. This has been a hypo symptom of mine and had been gone for some time until now.
Avatar n tn put me on 112 mcg. Synthroid, I got really sick with terrible pain and insomnia. Then he tried putting me on 50 mcg with 25 mcg Cytomel. My heart started to race so I stopped, plus fibro pain was still bad. For the past 6 weeks have been on compounded armour, but I could feel it wasn't working like the original formula. I don't know what to think of these test results. The nurse called me and said they were all normal. I told her, for me, that tsh was not normal, but high.
