Cytomel heart attack

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel heart attack

cytomel

Avatar n tn Lately the heart palpitations came back. They would go away within a half hour after taking an additional Cytomel. My doctor decided I need to take a timed release version of the T3 so I had made with a compounding pharmacy. So far I'm doing OK but I wondered if body can make antibodies against the medications? It seems that I have to keep going up on T3 and T4. The medication doses are constantly having to be increased?
519035 tn?1348275773 What does an attack feel like? I've heard of it but haven't found anyone who can say what it feels like. Are you able to do anything to lessen the attack? What are the signs?
Avatar m tn thank you for the quick reply. I have tried five cardios so far and none look beyond 'normal' lab results, for both heart and thryroid, to symptoms. In any case there's no Cytomel in Guatemala so I will have to get contacts in the US to bring or send it. Big question: Is it sold prescription only? Smiler: my cardio is surprised and diappointed that I'm not tip top. Why? because my EKG is normal.
Avatar f tn s very high and I was at risk for a heart attack. So telling him my heart rate was 84 last night might have led to an ER visit. Haha! Prior to hypothyroidism unwelcomed visit 2 yrs ago my pulse was 80 bpm. When hypo creeped in is when my pulse dropped to 50 and sometimes 40. When starting the meds it came up to 62, 68, and seldomly 72. Well 72 bpm if I was walking.
Avatar n tn And a low does Cytomel, as he had a heart attack in October, at 60. Not sure those labs are normal, compared to mine, but thought I’d run them by you. Thanks for any answers.
Avatar n tn Hi, I recently began having irregular heartbeats after being on cytomel 50mcg for 2 weeks. It initially started about a week after taking the drug, but has continually worsened. My doctor took me off of it on Monday and I had blood tests ran Tuesday. I have an appt with a cardiologist for an echo. My question is, if the cytomel was indeed not needed and my current TSH is 0.01, FreeT3 is 2.9 and FT4 is 0.8, will this normalize without more meds?
Avatar f tn My doc just put me on cytomel. She said to take it with Armour. Something about I need more t3ort4.. Can someone explain? And, I hear you guys talk about " grains ". What is a grain? I am on 60 mg of Armour and 5 mcg cytomel. My TSH came down from 7.04 to 1.92 in first 6 weeks of Armour only..that's good right? She said my TPO was 45 though....? Help.
Avatar m tn I got to have them change my levo down a bit before i add this cytomel or i might have a heart attack.lol.My body seems to respond within a few days and lets me know if the dosage is right or not.Glad to see my doctors are finally starting to care a little more.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I went back down to one Cytomel. I then about 6 months later started with the heart palps again and diarehha. This went on for about a month and then again cut out the Cytomel completely and I don't have issues anymore. The problem now is that I am completly achey, grumpy and have gained 15 lbs. I did Synthroid only for years and am always and emotional wreck! What do I do? Should I try Erfa? Will the T3 in it give me heart palps again?
556500 tn?1222338630 I have been taking cytomel 25mcg for 2 weeks now with my synthroid Prior to cytomel i was extremely cold and tired all the time. when i started the cytomel it seem to help immediately in the beginning. this pasr week i have fatigue cold intolerance and joint and back pain and also fluttering heart once in a while (not palpitations last 20 secs or so) is it the meds? or how long will this fatigue last? i am so dragged out tired lately i cant do much. will the cytomel kick in?
Avatar f tn t want to get any heart palpitations and hoping the Cytomel can help me feel better. I am basically exhausted, just feel flu-like, hard to function or want to do anything. My questions are: 1. Do you think this is the best way for me to take the Cytomel? 2. Do you think the reduction in Synthroid is a good one - enough? 3.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, just a thyoid patient. If your wife's thyroid has been ablated and she makes no thyroid hormone on her own, she will need to take replacement hormone for the rest of her life. A branded type of levothyroxine is the best, but there are others besides Synthroid that she may prefer. There is also T3 (cytomel) but taking that is a tiny bit more complicated. There is also Armour which contains both T4 and T3.
Avatar f tn Thanks for answering, FF and gimel. FF, that was my thought as well. And gimel, I took the medications the previous morning, 24 hours before the test, and did not take the current day's meds until I returned from the blood draw. The thing that confuses me the most is the radical drop in the FREE T4 in the October lab results. I lowered the Cytomel to 30 mcg this morning. I can feel pressure in my chest and have a dry cough.....
705042 tn?1228721787 The doctor should know that. Cytomel is 2 1/2 times as potent as Levothyroxine. By adding Cytomel your doctor more than doubled your medication in one step. A normal combination would be 75mcg of Levo and 5mg of Cytomel, or something like that ratio-wise. Maybe 88mcg of Levo and 10mg of Cytomel, or 100mcg and 10mg. One part Cytomel and two parts Levothyroxine is not a good balance. The Cytomel is metabolized very quickly and is gone in a few hours.
Avatar n tn s back again since I started on the cytomel. Last night was really bad, along with rapid, pounding heart beats that lasted for about an hour before I could fall back to sleep. Heart rate is fine now and I'm back to feeling cold again.
Avatar f tn T3 can be over-stimulating so even with a high TSH there can be periods of excess stimulation to the heart causing heart palpitations and dangerous rhythm disturbances -- talk to your doctor if this happens.
Avatar m tn Please dont use Cytomel as a weight loss med as it can cause massive heart attack if the dose is too large and even damage the heart muscles. Your Doctor is irresponsible in not telling you the risks of high Cytomel dosing. I hope that answers your questions.
Avatar f tn I took all 5 mcg in the morning with my Synthroid and within 5 days I was a mess. Heart pounding like crazy and shaky. Called the doc and he told me to take 1/2 of the Cytomel to see if it made a difference. I decided to take 1/4. Did that for a week and felt fine. Started 1/2 and two days later I'm a mess again. Not sure what I'm gonna do now. Hopefully you will have better luck than I have.
499534 tn?1328704178 I had been having very labored breathing all week and on Tues I went to my dr who decided with my thyroid labs to put me back on Synthroid with Cytomel. So I went from 120mgs Armour to 88mcg Synthroid and 5mcg Cytomel in the morning, started new med 2 days ago. Throughout the week my ribs have hurt more and more front and back and I have been coughing and getting more breathless.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I then went to one Cytomel and the racey heart was back again. I then started getting chronic diarreha. I have been to the GI doc, cardiologist and many endos without any help. I read about Plummer's disease and it says that a nodule/cyst can turn toxic. Could this be my issue? Can you remove a nodule without taking the thyroid. They found a small colloid cyst and it has been growing. It is only 7 mm though. Could this be the issue??? Please help!!!
