Avatar f tn My family doctor reluctantly agreed to let me start the Cytomel again. My psychiatrist started me on 25 mcg of Cytomel. I felt better for one day, and then everything went down hill. I started having night sweats, shaking, constantly sweating during the day, chills, some wheezing at night when laying down, and a productive cough. My temperature never went higher than 99.0 F.
Avatar n tn I now am getting closer normal levels but I feel horrible. Because we are trying for a baby I cannot be put back on the cytomel until I am pregnant again and give birth. Since I have been off the cytomel though I instantly gained almost 10 lbs already. I am back to my afternoon naps.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?
Avatar f tn I know Cytomel is supplement for T3 and stronger. If anyone has experiences with Cytomel, your input is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am recently diagnoised with hypo-been taking 100 synthroid for almost a month. I work out 5 days a week I was wondering if anyone has taken cytomel along with synthroid? If so has it helped in weight loss? I work out so very hard and go to the gym twice a day, The doctor says until my metabolism and thyroid get on track my weight won't change. I have been doing some research on cytomel and am thinking of asking my Dr. if I can try it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn The GMC have agreed that Dr Skinner was not acting dangerously in initiating treatment with thyroid hormone replacement for those patients who had normal thyroid function tests but who suffered several symptoms and signs of hypothyroidism. They also agreed that for those patients who did not do well on levothyroxine-only therapy, the use of natural desiccated thyroid extract (i.e.
Avatar n tn I am getting worse the longer I am self dosing with cytomel only (currently 2.5 mcg, 3xday). Is that a normal amount for cytomel or a small amount? I have an appt this week to go over my labs from last Thursday but feel like I will collapse before then. My doctor will not want to do labs for a month. Is it possible to do them after two weeks on Armour and see if it is working? I get scared as soon as I start feeling worse on a new medication.
Avatar n tn Are yoiu on any other thyroid meds as well, or just Cytomel? If so, what is your dosage? If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
Avatar f tn Seems to me that it would be far better to get your thyroid med adjusted so that it is adequate for you. That would increase your metabolism to normal and perhaps solve your weight problem. What, if any, other symptoms do you have? Please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.
Avatar f tn when I was taking my thyroid meds which are levothyroxin 137 mcg 1 a day and cytomel 25cg 2 a day I was having suicidal thoughts and the least little things would upset me. now i have been taking these meds for about a year now. I feel that the medician was causeing me to have these thoughts so on my own I stoped taking the cytomel and have been off of it for three weeks or so and all the bad thoughts of suicide have gone away and I dont get as upset as easy as I did before.
903476 tn?1242237037 I receved a letter from my endocrinologist recently saying that he was switching me from desiccated thyroid to cytomel, I had only been on the desiccated thyroid for 6 months with what looked like normal thyroid levels.
Avatar n tn I was doing really really well on .137 mcg of synthroid and 50 mcg of cytomel and my dr. took me down to 25mcg on cytomel. So I stopped taking all of the meds about 2 months ago. Will the portion of my thyroid that wasn't removed begin working again? Will I have more weight gain without meds, or will it go to hyperthyroid? Or will I have more weight gain or less on the smaller dosage?
Avatar f tn have you ever had your iron or Ferritin levels checked? Ferritin is needed to metabolize the thyroid hormone. Also have you been checked for vitamin B-12? If that is below about 700 you might want to supplment B-12 as deficency can cause fatigue. Cortisol can also throw things out of whack. So maybe that is worth checking as well. Hashi's is a progressive condition, so that the thyroid gland produces less and less hormone over time.
Avatar f tn How long should I wait before starting cytomel. Backing down from 112mg tirosint to 100mg. Was previously on 100, but t4 levels were below midrange and t3 below. T4 levels now above midrange and t3 levels below. I tried starting 5mcg cytomel after 1 week but having issues tolerating it. I'm having horrible issues with hairloss too. My hair volume has decreased in half. Is that from the chronically low t3?? I have a history of not doing well with t3 meds.
Avatar n tn She has had me taking various levels of Synthroid and one Cytomel tablet daily for the two years I have been seeing me. She requests that I get my TSH tested nearly every 5 weeks and nearly every time the dosage needs to be adjusted. My sister and my dad both have hypothyroidism also, but they only have the levels checked about once a year. My question is: Does it seem normal that my thyroid meds should need to be adjusted constantly?
Avatar n tn I had a total thyroidectomy in October. I am currently taking 112mcg of synthroid. Although my blood work is where the dr wants it to be I cant seem to lose the 15lbs I have gained & everytime I eat my stomach becomes extremely bloated. I have even been asked when I am due! I weighed 120 before surgery & 135 now. I have been reading a lot about Cytomel. What is the criteria for adding Cytomel? Why are some pt's on it & some not?
Avatar m tn I'm 54 and have been taking thyroid medication for years - always hypo. My doctor put me on 50 mcg of cytomel and 50mcg synthroid. Then, recently I had my blood work done and results were TSH .05 and Free T4 -.44. My doctor took me off the cytomel today. He seemed confused with my blood work considering I've always been hypo. Could this indicate too much meds or pituitary glad problem. I seem to have brain fog, extremely tired,(at times- my speech is slurred. And I have osteoporosis.
Avatar f tn He has recently been seen by oncologist for various complaints including weight loss, PET scan ordered. Results showed all clear except for activity/uptake whatever in the thyroid. He ordered some lab studies, a thyroid scan and a referal to endocrinologist. When the scan office called they told my husband he had to stop taking the synthroid for 6 weeks before the test. Both the oncologist and the endocrinologist are new to us.
