cytomel

Avatar f tn He increased the dosage of Synthroid to 75 mcg daily and the Cytomel to 5 mcg 3x per day. This really helped for a few months and then around the beginning of September, some old symptoms started returning...hair loss, fatigue and body aches. Increased Synthroid to 88mcg and it helped, but the hair loss continued and after a couple of months I started getting episodes of fast heart beat (about 88 bpm.) This may not seem that fast, but my normal HR is in the 50s.
Avatar f tn I discontinued Cytomel and began the low-iodine diet 2 days ago in preparation for radio-iodine. Those who have been through this, do you feel tired, or totally incapacitated? Are you able to work and take care of children, or is it difficult to accomplish anything?
Avatar n tn Anxiety is a side effect of Cytomel. Why are you on Cytomel alone and not combined with a T4 med? You should not be as anxious as you are. Do you know hat your free T3, free T4 and TSH were prior to starting Cytomel? Do you take your Cytomel in one dose or split it?
Avatar f tn Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?

327369 tn?1326119908 I'm on cytomel also -- I find it very helpful in alleviating my symptoms (mainly lifting the fatigue and brain fog). My insurance company switched me from cytomel to generic also, I've been on generic for approx a month and doing well so far. But then I do better on generic levo than I did on synthroid too. I'm currently on only 5 mcg/day - taken about 7:00 am, which is mid morning for me.
Avatar f tn Had to increase it to 88mcg Synthroid and 5mcg Cytomel twice a day. That was great for about four months but then started feeling bad again. Thus the recent visit to endo. She now has me taking more Cytomel as needed. Twice in the morning (5mcg each spaced out which is a real challenge with eating) and my usual 5mcg in the afternoon. Does that sound right? Considering I'm now "hyper"? I also have a deficiency in D3.
Avatar f tn s) - and ended up with adrenal fatigue .....experiences, tests for, treatment. I am not sure what to do next if the Cytomel doesn't help.
Avatar n tn I dont know whether synthroid can make you more fatigue . But you can try taking cytomel alone for a while for a change. Its only a suggestion.
Avatar n tn I am getting worse the longer I am self dosing with cytomel only (currently 2.5 mcg, 3xday). Is that a normal amount for cytomel or a small amount? I have an appt this week to go over my labs from last Thursday but feel like I will collapse before then. My doctor will not want to do labs for a month. Is it possible to do them after two weeks on Armour and see if it is working? I get scared as soon as I start feeling worse on a new medication.
Avatar m tn I was getting frustrated from being in the gym and dieting and losing no weight that my trainer suggested it was because of my hypothyrodism so I saw a naturopath and she Saliva tested me and found that I have Stage 2 adrenal fatigue. So the stage right before adrenal exhaustion. I was taking an adrenal formula (with glandular adrenals and vitamins) and another adrenal support with different vitamins and supplements. I used to get my thyroid medication compounded.
Avatar m tn Need lab reference range to further assist.. If notdule is visible, biopsy can be performed. As for Cytomel, depends upon labs/reference and how you are feeling.
252327 tn?1250183976 the doc was going to write a rx for Amour Thyroid but there seems to be a shorage nationwide he said cytomel is the syntheic for Amour. I feel great!
Avatar n tn My home computer is crashed - I would have had a ton of articles for you. You can google up - Cytomel - and Free T3.
Avatar n tn I now am getting closer normal levels but I feel horrible. Because we are trying for a baby I cannot be put back on the cytomel until I am pregnant again and give birth. Since I have been off the cytomel though I instantly gained almost 10 lbs already. I am back to my afternoon naps.
Avatar n tn I called and asked to add cytomel because I was still having alot of fatigue. they called it in.
Avatar n tn There is no one medication or combination of meds that is suitable for all of us, the same goes for doses of Cytomel. It takes time and trial and error for all this to figure out, unfortunately, but you are , already, a lucky one, since your doctor prescribes Cytomel, as many endo WOULD NOT do that.Thank you.
299155 tn?1235489269 ARis right - you should only use it if there is a conversion problem - but a small portion will add it to their patients for Brain fog, fatigue, and very hypo symptoms. I do not know if I agree with these doctors using it - or not agree. I never used it - I switched to Armour in Oct 07 and it was well worth it. I was one of the ones that had a problem with the conversion process. The pub is fun - you really have to have a sense of humor to lock in on some of the conversations.
Avatar n tn m in the normal range. Doctor just put me on Cytomel for insomnia and fatigue. For several days I felt awesome for the first time in years but am but I am starting to feel even more awful then I first did. Could the Cytomel dosage be too high? Has anyone ever experienced this. I'm almost tempted to start cutting my pills in half to try to see if a lower dose helps like it started to.
Avatar n tn When TSH is too high Cytomel dose might be too low. If TSH was optimal F/T-3 would be high and F/T-4 low. Cytomel may decrease T4. I don't think your Cytomel/Synthroid ratio is correct. Unless other things are going on; you didn't care to share your levels.(?) T3 dose should be split and taken every 6 to 8 hour interval, if not time released. For instance, if the dose is 25 mcg, then take 5 mcg. pills, four times a day or every 6 hours.
988694 tn?1332359479 Does anybody know a T3 only medicine without fillers? I was added Cytomel and my NT was reduced to 2 grains due to RT3. So far feeling awful, but I am more concern, despite all the pain and discomfort I am in, about Cytomel causing me allergies. My nose is itching and I have been sneezing. I had a similar episode a couple of years ago and I quit it. I cannot do compound pharmacy since I have to travel and it is too much trouble. Any idea about an existent hypoallergenic T3 only medicine?
1202943 tn?1347840652 I have an appt in March and if I still feel hypo I will push for an increase in cytomel up to 10mcg twice a day. Not sure if she'll go for it, but I believe it will help. Maybe talking to her in person I'll be more convincing than through the nurse. I would like to increase without decreasing the T4, but if she wont go for it should I ask to decrease synthroid and increase cytomel again? 02/02/12 TSH .05 (.45-4.5) FT4 1.1 (0.8-2.2) FT3 2.7 (1.7-3.7) 11/10/11 TSH .006 (.
