cytomel

Avatar f tn t posted in a while, but I am experience some distrubing issues wiht my thyroid meds. Early last spring my endo prescribed Cytomel (5 mcg 2x per day) along with my synthroid to relieve lingering hypo symptoms. My Free T3 levels were low. We rechecked my blood after a couple of months and my Free T3 was still low and so was my Free T4....TSH was suppressed. He increased the dosage of Synthroid to 75 mcg daily and the Cytomel to 5 mcg 3x per day.
Avatar f tn I discontinued Cytomel and began the low-iodine diet 2 days ago in preparation for radio-iodine. Those who have been through this, do you feel tired, or totally incapacitated? Are you able to work and take care of children, or is it difficult to accomplish anything?
Avatar f tn I was orginally diagnosed and treated as hypothyroid with Hashimotos. Was orginially on 25mcg of synthroid and 5mcg of Cytomel. Had to increase it to 88mcg Synthroid and 5mcg Cytomel twice a day. That was great for about four months but then started feeling bad again. Thus the recent visit to endo. She now has me taking more Cytomel as needed. Twice in the morning (5mcg each spaced out which is a real challenge with eating) and my usual 5mcg in the afternoon. Does that sound right?
327369 tn?1326119908 Just for info, I noticed something in the medical info that came with the Cytomel. It stated that Cytomel has no known side effects. How many meds do you know that can say that?
Avatar n tn Hello RenKat Have you tried taking cytomel only without adding synthroid. I am from india and I am not hypothyroid but I have fatigue, brain fog. So I tried the generic version ( which is only available in my country) of levothyroxine ( eltroxin). On the fist day brain fog and fatigue were lifted but later on brain fog and fatigue became more severe. Anyway I have ordered cytomel and I am waiting for its arrival. I dont know whether synthroid can make you more fatigue .
Avatar f tn Exist others thyroid treatment like the combinaion of levo/cytomel (T4/T3) or dessicated thyroid gland tablet like Armour or cytomel only (T3 only). But T4-only or levo alone not necessary work for everyone. If your physician is orthodox(the majority of the physician are orthodox) you will have to seek another physician because orthodox physician arrongantly believe that the hypothyroidism should be treat with T4-only.
Avatar m tn I was getting frustrated from being in the gym and dieting and losing no weight that my trainer suggested it was because of my hypothyrodism so I saw a naturopath and she Saliva tested me and found that I have Stage 2 adrenal fatigue. So the stage right before adrenal exhaustion. I was taking an adrenal formula (with glandular adrenals and vitamins) and another adrenal support with different vitamins and supplements. I used to get my thyroid medication compounded.
252327 tn?1250183976 So then he gave me the cytomel, so far I feel much better especially with the brain fog and fatigue, I still work full time so I still need my energy. My results are ( this is the day he gave me cytomel) Ft4 1.31 range 0.61-1.76 t3 uptake 34 range 24-39 antithyroidgrobulin 39 range 0-40 FT3 1.8 range 2.3-4.2 LOW tsh 0.460 range 0.450-4.
Avatar m tn at what size is a nodule biopsy performed? Question 2: Is this the correct time to be adding Cytomel?
Avatar n tn 5 cytomel. I never felt better in my life! I was on 125 levothyroxine and 12.5 cytomel to clarify. My doctor said I would not lose weight due to the cytomel. I don't know if it was the cyt or just me feeling better with no more fatigue that made me lose weight. I dropped 25lbs. Two months ago found out I was pregnant and was taken off the cytomel and my levothyroxine was raised to 150. I miscarried a week later. My thyroid levels got so messed up because of the all the hormonal changes.
Avatar n tn I called and asked to add cytomel because I was still having alot of fatigue. they called it in.
299155 tn?1235489269 hello everyone. what exactly is cytomel? my background: on synthroid 125 with a tsh of 0.82. hair loss since first diagnosis in April of 07. I still don't feel like I am where I should be. NO WEIGHT LOSS whatsoever etc. Would cytomel help me feel better? Also, what is the thyroid Pub? Can I join? Thanks.
988694 tn?1332359479 Does anybody know a T3 only medicine without fillers? I was added Cytomel and my NT was reduced to 2 grains due to RT3. So far feeling awful, but I am more concern, despite all the pain and discomfort I am in, about Cytomel causing me allergies. My nose is itching and I have been sneezing. I had a similar episode a couple of years ago and I quit it. I cannot do compound pharmacy since I have to travel and it is too much trouble. Any idea about an existent hypoallergenic T3 only medicine?
Avatar f tn It has been 5 weeks and I would like to get retested so I can get redosed and possibly add T3 as Cytomel taking a half dose in AM and PM. I know I am not right and would like to speed the process up. The extreme fatigue, moo, and weight issues are not even close to being where they should be. I was first diagnosed in 2002 after my first pregnancy but I know I have been hypo for years as I have taken 1 1/2-2 hour naps for years and have always been extremely sensitive to cold.
Avatar n tn When TSH is too high Cytomel dose might be too low. If TSH was optimal F/T-3 would be high and F/T-4 low. Cytomel may decrease T4. I don't think your Cytomel/Synthroid ratio is correct. Unless other things are going on; you didn't care to share your levels.(?) T3 dose should be split and taken every 6 to 8 hour interval, if not time released. For instance, if the dose is 25 mcg, then take 5 mcg. pills, four times a day or every 6 hours.
1202943 tn?1347840652 I was feeling pretty hypo with fatigue, facial/eye swelling, constipation, and always cold. My dr wanted me to lower my dose but I convinced her to increase my cytomel(from 5mcg twice a day to 7.5 twice a day) and decrease synthroid(137mcg to 125mcg). I have had improvement on all symptoms, but still feel hypo. My dr said my levels looked a little high and if I feel jittery I can reduce the dose or stay where I am.
Avatar f tn It all changed after my diagnosis. I take my levothyroxine +cytomel at night. If I take it in the morning i feel nervous. At night I don't notice any difference.
Avatar f tn I got a call from my gynecologist stating that my thyroid levels came back very low. We were trying to identify some of the symptoms since I have PCOS. My doctor stated my TSH level was at 0.29 and Free t4 level was at 0.24. I've been on daily 50mg of Cytomel since 2005. What all does this mean? I have symptoms of hypothyroidism (hair loss, fatigue, weight gain, muscle aches, etc). Everything that i read is very confusing.
Avatar n tn Anxiety is a side effect of Cytomel. Why are you on Cytomel alone and not combined with a T4 med? You should not be as anxious as you are. Do you know hat your free T3, free T4 and TSH were prior to starting Cytomel? Do you take your Cytomel in one dose or split it?
Avatar n tn I am on 125mcg of synthroid and want to add cytomel because of still suffering from fatigue and weight gain. My physician prescribed 25mcg of cytomel and said to discontinue the synthroid. I cannot get into an endo until Feb. and would like to combine the two but am not sure what doses to take reducing my synthroid and adding the cytomel?
