Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel experiences

cytomel

Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced these symptoms using Synthroid with Cytomel--and/or re Cytomel? Are your adrenals balanced? There seems to be some difficulty testing Free T3 on cytomel also at certain ranges Can someone comment on/point to info on that too?. How have people done on Naturethroid/transitioning to Naturethroid. Any/all info most appreciated.
458072 tn?1291415186 Has anyone used Cytomel for anxiety? If so, would you mind sharing your experiences. I am having major anxiety and wondered if this would be of any benefit. Thanks for your input.
1070570 tn?1283436213 I was up to 125 mcg synthroid, then dropped back to 75 synthroid, then switched to 75 generic levo and added 10 mcg cytomel. That was too much cytomel, so dropped back to 5 mcg cytomel and switched to generic; then up to 88 mcg levo, staying with 5 mcg generic cytomel. Am currently on 100 mcg Tirosint and 5 mcg generic cytomel. I take the Tirosint first thing in the morning, per instructions (my day starts 3:30 am). I take my T3 med about 7-7:30 am.
1205917 tn?1265745553 Can anyone, doctors especially included, tell me anything about their experiences with adding Cytomel to their daily regimen of thyroid hormone replacement? My main concerns are appearance & weightloss, energy, and mood (including anxiety & concentration).
Avatar f tn I know Cytomel is supplement for T3 and stronger. If anyone has experiences with Cytomel, your input is greatly appreciated.
988694 tn?1332359479 Cytomel does not work for me, I had too many side effects when I have taken it in the past. That is why I was on a combo NT along with Synthroid. I suggested my current endo to add some NT again, but she said the plan was go only with Synthroid and continue to decrease my dose due to my TSH. She said she wants to see my TSH at least at the bottom of the range :( I don't agree with her.
299155 tn?1235489269 hello everyone. what exactly is cytomel? my background: on synthroid 125 with a tsh of 0.82. hair loss since first diagnosis in April of 07. I still don't feel like I am where I should be. NO WEIGHT LOSS whatsoever etc. Would cytomel help me feel better? Also, what is the thyroid Pub? Can I join? Thanks.
Avatar f tn m really concerned about finding a doctor that will test Free T3/Free T4, prescribe Cytomel, take my symptoms into account and ignore TSH. At six months since starting medicine for Hashi/Hypo, we moved to London. At the time, I was taking T4 only. On my first visit/labs they reduced my T4 dose based exclusively on TSH which was in range (.8), but they wanted my TSH over 1.
Avatar m tn dosage were you on when you tried cytomel before? What dosage of cytomel and how did you take it - all at once or multiple times/day?
Avatar n tn Without it, no one will perscribe Cytomel (T3). If your thyroid is slowly giving out over the last ten years, I'd want to know why... and I'd also want to have the Free T's tested. Are you having any symptoms? Is this an endocrinologist your dealing with your just a GP? I'd find an open-minded endo and ask for a full thyroid panel. Welcome to the forum.
Avatar n tn i am on synthroid and now my newest medicine added to the mix is cytomel. my t3 is low my primary care dr prescribed the cytomel last week. i look forward to going to the new endo. and yes i know i will have to get a fna again but maybe this doctor will do the right thing as far as this is concerned.
Avatar n tn If not, why are you on T3-only med (Cytomel)? What were your labs a week ago before going on the Cytomel, and were you on any other meds then?
Avatar f tn She told me she was 20 lbs over weights due to being hypo and was only be able to loose few lbs even with teaching many aerobic classes and eating healthy until she heard of Cytomel. She started taking 25mcg of Cytomel 4 yrs ago and noticed the fat melted quickly. She is now at her ideal weight and very fit.
Avatar f tn s fairly rare for somone to be on Cytomel only. Usually a small dose of Cytomel is added to the Synthroid, which may have to be reduced to accomodate the Cytomel. Cytomel (T3) is very fast-acting, so it has to be taken several times throughout the day if taken by itself. This leads to intra-day ups and downs in hormone levels. Do you have the results of your latest lab tests (FT3, FT4 and TSH) and their reference ranges?
765572 tn?1234697366 Can you take just Cytomel? I am on levothyroxine and feeling awful. I heard that this generic of Synthroid is actually not the same as Synthroid and that it is not as good. I heard some people have fabulous results on Armour and Cytomel. Why are Dr's so reluctant to prescribe these other meds? I heard Cytomel really helps with fatigue. All I want to do is sleep, it's awful.
Avatar f tn I thought that the generic cytomel was exactly as the brand cytomel. no difference what so ever. I thought I read this somewhere in these forums???? i am on the generic for 3 weeks now and I really feel no different. the doc gave me 25 mg of cytomel to add to my 75mcg of synthroid. advice from you guys, so I cut my synthroid in half and taking only 6 mcg of cytomel. but I have been taking 1/2 of cytomel in the morning and breaking the other half in two. so yeah that is 25 mg.
1956603 tn?1325036186 My doctor added the Cytomel around Dec 28th, I believe. I took the Tirosint first thing in the am with one 5mcg Cytomel and then took the other 5mcg Cytomel between 1-3 pm. I had been on Tirosint 150 mcg for several months prior to the Cytomel. I'm not sure what the change was between the past two results, but I am glad it happened. This is the best I have felt in years! My doctor would like to lower the Tirosint to 137 mcg but keep the Cytomel the same.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr. Lupo, We are trying desperately to help our 19 year old daughter with her thyroid issues. She is a College swimmer and has been hypothyroid since age 9. She has been hitting the "wall" in her races so we had a breathing test done. She also has times when she experiences a tight chest for no apparent reason. The breathing test showed what appeared to be airway inflamation (she improved her small airway lung function by 51% after taking an albuterol type drug).
407745 tn?1230850087 I am taking Synthroid 100 MCG & Cytomel 5MCG what happens when you have too much T3 ? i have been looking for a new endrcrinologis, the dr.
Avatar n tn d have to reduce the amount of levo and replace with an equivalent amount of Cytomel (1/4 the Cytomel for the reduction in levo, e.g. drop the levo to 100 mcg and add 12.5 mcg Cytomel).
252327 tn?1250183976 Before cytomel I was tired , brain fog, joint pain. Cytomel gave me no palputaions..nothing..
