cytomel

Avatar f tn potato, carrots, anything that grows below the ground I will have instant weight on in one day (and its not water weight) and takes a week of severe dieting to lose it. Any help would be greatly be appreciated.
393685 tn?1425812522 What is the comparable dosage requirement from taking Armour thyroid to a Cytomel/Synthroid dosage. If a person was on 1 grain of Armour - what's the equvilant of Cytomel/Synthroid? Does anyone know the bovine ratios - compared to porcine? Either I am missing finding these questions out - or I am just to busy lately with everything else...
894666 tn?1274097896 Has anyone ever had a similar problem. If it is the cytomel, I think I need to stop taking it. I was hoping it would help with weight loss, which is has not.
822804 tn?1298226302 I am 27 years old and am hypothryoid currently taking Synthroid 150mcg and Cytomel 25mcg but am only taking 1/2 tablet daily.I am experiencing hair loss now...larger than normal clumps are in my hairbrush after brushing my hair and I am also losing hair throughout the day, strands here and there.Would this mean that my meds need to be increased or decreased?what should I do?I do not have a thyroid anymore - i had a total thyroidectomy a little over a year ago.
Avatar f tn About 5 weeks ago my doctor added 5mcg of Cytomel twice a day. My anxiety, lethargy, ADD, depression, and hair loss have really calmed down but I still have a low body temperature - normally in the 96-97 range and my weight hasn't budged at all. I also am so bloated all the time - I am so uncomfortable in my body. Do I need to be on a higher dose of cytomel or should I may be looking into getting tested for insulin resistance?
590006 tn?1221271520 Thanks for the advice. I will seriuosly reconsider using Cytomel. I'm a Hashi hypo sufferer. My T3 is in the normal range and my TSH is 1.4. My endo was going to put me on Cytomel 5 mcg just in the morning (not twice a day). I took Cytomel for a year a couple years back. It made me feel better (fatigue and brain fog gone), but I became hyper one year later. My TSH was .419. I thought trying the Cytomel again with a TSH of 1.4 would work with an adjustment to the unithroid.
6555161 tn?1382381862 Ferritin: 33 (lab range 15-150) Free T3: 2.0 (lab value 2.0-4.4) So, yeah. WAY low in both. I've been doing good taking my iron at night, but was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for iron? I'm just taking 325 mg of Ferrous Sulfate (says 65mg underneath that) but not sure if i need a larger dose or if this is a good starting dose to build it up and see what it's like down the road some. Just asking if anyone has a favorite iron?
Avatar f tn ve been complaining to my doctors for years (literally since 2003) about symptoms of fatigue, hair loss, inability to lose weight, and weight gain. Started testing for thyroid problems in 2003, but they only did the TSH test which always came back normal. Never did the free T4 test until 2005. I'm a concerned about pituitary problems as this is what i have read from various cites (mayo clinic and a couple of other good sites).
Avatar f tn My dosage was changed probably 3 times over the next year, and each time I gained probably 15 or 20 pounds. After staying on the same dosage (10 mcg) and my body finally adjusting (about 4 years) I began to be able to lose back down to my normal weight, but not without a lot of exercise and really, really watching what I eat. Today I had my blood drawn for a check on my levels and the doctor wants to change my dosage. He said my TSH levels are too high. Arrrggghhh!
Avatar n tn I also started to become very depressed. I was switched to 112 Synthroid and 5 Cytomel. The weight stabilized at 142lb - great! However, the depression is still here, I still get tired, and my toes and fingers get uncontrollably cold lately. I also started getting slightly sick in the morning about an hour after taking the Synthroid. My last blood test showed TSH of 0.1mIU/L.
Avatar f tn After 4 years on Armor thyroid, my MD switched me to synthroid 25 mcg and cytomel 5 mcg 1 bid (tid prn). I am a 50 y.o females who is s/p total hysterectomy for ovarian ca. I take Estratest FS 4 X's week. I am feeling MUCH better with the Synthroid and Cytomel, however, my latest labs have come back as follows: TSH- .062 Free Thyroxin-- 1.
Avatar f tn My dr put me on 200 MCGs of Tirosint and Cytomel (5 MCGs) per day. I noticed that this seems to be a rather high dosage of Tirosint since it's supposed to have a better rate of absorption than the other thyroid meds on the market. I'm wondering if anyone else is taking a dosage this high? i went to have labs drawn today because while i've only been taking this dose for 5 weeks, i am either hyper now, or the symptoms are coincidence. Will others share their Tirosint dosage? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn Even though health wise I felt better most of the time had issues with weight gain and most disturbing hair loss. I have almost gone bald and have been trying to adjust meds just to stop hair loss. 6 months back shifted to brand synthroid 62.5 mcg. Felt fine but hair loss didn't stop. Recently read a lot about cytomegalovirus so asked my endo about it. I am prescribed cytomegalovirus 5mcg + 50 mcg synthroid.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't advise adding cytomel without knowing what your actual thyroid levels are -- that's Free T4, Free T3 and TSH. T3 med (cytomel) is about 4 times more potent than the T4 med (synthroid) and it can really throw you for a loop if you don't need it. It can cause very rapid heart rate, palps, etc. Whenever cytomel is added, the T4 med should be dropped accordingly. Did you receive the cytomel from your doctor or as a script? What did your doctor say about adding it?
Avatar f tn 025 synthroid and 10mcg of cytomel twice a day. Recently I’m gaining weight, extreme water retnejnv and feeling anxiety. My dr told me to reduce the cytomel to 10mcg in morning and 5 mcg at night. I’m just so confused by my numbers. Can someone please help? I took one full day off the meds and lost 5 lbs.
Avatar f tn While on the cytomel, I was losing weight, about 5-6 pounds per week, (lost 23 pounds and was thrilled with this!) had energy, and was able to sleep through the night, which has been a rarity the last few years, and my boyfriend says I don't snore anymore!! I told the endos this that told me to get off the cytomel, that I was feeling so much better, etc. and they still said to get off of it immediately.
Avatar n tn Not clear on when your med and dosage changed and when blood was drawn for those latest tests. At any rate, your Free T3 has gone down, when it should be increased. Your Free T4 has also gone down. And it was not high enough previously. Your Vitamin D needs to be about 55-60, your B12 should be in the very upper end of the range, and ferritin should be 60 minimum for women. So you need to supplement to reach those levels for D, B12 and ferritin.
Avatar n tn If you are on a synthetic T4 drug like Synthroid and you are not taking a T3 drug like Cytomel, then you may need to find an endo who will test and treat the FT3 levels, so that you can lose the weight.
Avatar f tn Now that I have started the Cytomel, my doc wanted me to decrease it. My main concern is the swelling in my face and under my chin. Will it go down? My neck is not hard anymore and the headaches have gone away for the most part, but my current physician seems that the huge soft extra layer that goes all the way from one cheek to the other sometimes is not concerning. It goes up and down. What is it and will it go away, or is my dosage too low.
Avatar f tn I had my bi-annual thyroid checkup and my doctor said I was on too much meds due to my weight loss and reduced me to a half Cytomel and 100 mcg Synthoid. Got tested again after 6 weeks and was told I was slightly high but could stay at that level. However I was feeling awful on that (really tired) so I talked to my doctor and agreed to going back to 25mcg Cytomel/75 mcg Synthroid.
Avatar n tn however, when I first began taking it, I was on a higher dosage and also had stomach issues. Once the dosage was cut back, I no longer had the issues. Can you post your latest labs, along with the reference ranges from your lab report?
Avatar n tn I just passed on a doctors appt today to do one of those non conventional weight loss things. I have about 25 more to lose and my impatience is growing tremdously. Yet I was so ill for years before getting optimal just shy a year ago this month. I took a step back and thought I need more time right now to maintain a healthy balance instead of reaching out again for something that may harm all the good that I am know having.
Avatar f tn Will adding cytomel to your levoxyl help with hair loss? This discussion is related to Cytomel in addition to Synthroid.
Avatar n tn s, it will also depend on how much of your thyroid is destroyed, etc. I am on 100 Synthroid and 5 Cytomel. I tried 10 Cytomel and it was just too strong. My body is doing a pretty fair job of converting my T4 to T3, therefore, I don't need much Cytomel.
2033435 tn?1329943508 5 (32-100) ~ low Will the dosage I was supposed to take improve my labs and feeling? (upping Cytomel only, not adding T4 at all). On the wrong dose, I still felt tired although better than before... probably because the RT3 got normal again. I inquired about the low T4 and he almost wanted to add Armour to Cytomel, but I said I didn't feel well on it. He said okay, Cytomel only is fine, he said T4 should not worry me (even though it's low). He told me to take iron and vitamin D...
