Cytomel and blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Cytomel and blood pressure

cytomel

Avatar n tn I just wanted to add something. I have just realized that it was the abuterol? or one of the other inhalants that was causing me to feel that my blood pressure was dropping. I haven't taken it for 2 nights now and i can't tell you how much better i feel. I have been able to sleep and i don't have the feeling that my blood pressure is dropping to an undesirable level.
Avatar f tn Since then I have been on Synthroid by itself then with Cytomel, Tirosint by itself then with Cytomel , Nature-Throid and now compounded t4 and compounded sustained release t3. I cannot get rid of the heart palps and high blood pressure. I feel terrible. My latest labs 2 weeks ago were Tsh 0.06 0.34-5.60 Ft4 0.77 0.76-1.46 Ft3 2.49 218-3.98 rt3 21.2. Ratio -11.
Avatar f tn When I was hyper, I was taking 75 mcg of synthroid and a full cytomel. My T3s were really high so he cut the cytomel by half first and then every 6 weeks increased the synthroid (75, 88, 100) to get my T3 and T4 in the range.
Avatar f tn I wonder why you are only on Cytomel and not a T4 drug as well. I would suggest you go to an endo and get on the right combination of drugs so you can feel better. Get your TGab and TPOab tests for Hashimoto's. I have Hashimoto's. I get the chronic sinus infections, simply because my immunity is lower due to my disease. I take Flonase and Zyrtec. That has helped tremendously.
Avatar n tn My doctor added Cytomel and I felt so much better. That was 5 years ago and I still feel great! I have no symptoms of being hyperthyroid. My blood pressure is normal/low, heart rate fine, etc. I also had an ultra sound on my thyroid and it came back normal. However, my doctor retired and she had been my dr. and trusted friend for 23 years. Trying to find new doc.
Avatar f tn t done well on Levothyroxine. For the previous 8 months I was taking generic 137 mcg. I developed high blood pressure and insomnia with the occasional anxiety. Two months ago I started taking Tirosint at a lower dose 112. Blood pressure better but recently have been prone to extreme panic attacks. They have gotten so bad I have developed agraphobia. I recently had T4 & T3 checked but are at a normal level. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was taking the phendimetrizine before with my syn, was working pretty well, with no heart rhythm problems, but I have just gotten cytomel added to my agenda on Friday and have not taken the phen since, because I was not sure, but in reference to the cytomel, does this have to be taken on empty stomach and does calcium affect, kinda like the syn--and can the syn and cytomel be taken at the same time, or should I take one in the am and one in the pm?? I am on 5mcg of cytomel and 0.
1004097 tn?1251117610 I take Benazepril for my blood pressure and am on a combination of levothyroxin (T4 med) and cytomel (T3 med) for the hypothyroidism. I take my levo first thing in the morning (which for me is 3:30 am), then I take the cytomel about 7:00 am to help me get through the day. I take my blood pressure med at the same time I take my cytomel, but benazepril is not a beta blocker, it's an ACE inhibitor. T4 and T3 meds are NOT the same thing.
Avatar f tn Free T3 levels must be checked regularly, along with TSH and Free T4, when taking cytomel. Cytomel is usually not recommended unless you have a conversion problem or for some other reason, your Free T3 is out of line. In addition, you should constantly be aware of any symptoms that might indicate that you are taking too much. Oldie - I, too, have heard that cytomel should not be used by persons with heart issues.
458072 tn?1291415186 Cytomel is a T3 - the only way this would benefit you would be if your T3 is low and need to get that level up. Low T3 could cause anxiety but you need to know your thyroid blood panel to really see if you need it. Cytomel is not really a med to control anxiety. Xanax is the most given or a generic.
Avatar f tn I checked my blood pressure when I got out and it was 100 / 60 and pulse was 118. My husband wanted me to go to the ER but I wouldn't. A couple hours later it was 99/ 60-pulse 100. Two hours later it was 110/68-pulse 84. Before the surgery my blood pressure was about always 120/80 and pulse was in the low 70's. I don't know if it makes a difference but I also take Benadryl three times a day for hives. My endro is out of town till the 30th.
Avatar f tn well I had all of those on the list except for the joint pain, swelling around eyes, enlarged tongue, high blood pressure, and infertility/miscarriage (I've never been pregnant). The ones that kept me from living my life was the extreme cold temp(felt like hypothermia) and the fatigue. My doctor started me on ERFA to see if my symptoms would change. I was attached to my portable heater in the summer and it was just not right. I also slept my days away.
793305 tn?1493925518 I currently take 5 mcg of Cytomel and .88 mg of Levoxyl. After doing research I sought out a Dr. in my community that prescribed Cytomel. That little bit does make a difference for me. I have never felt like I did before Hashimoto's in many respects, but I personally feel that Cytomel helped my energy level much more than the traditional sole replacement therapy!
1018470 tn?1251333523 Thanks for your response! As people discuss Cytomel and the Frees in blood work, they state that the Free T3 and Free T4 be in the upper quartile. What is your thought on the Free's?
Avatar n tn I too have bee suffering horribly since the return of Levoxyl it was my perfect T4 med while I also added Cytomel and felt great for 9 years. But the recall left me chasing another T4 med and I haven't been the same since. They have obviously added more fillets and I'm reacting to the fillets they put in it. I remember the good days when it' was slightly chalky and dissolved quickly on my tongue if I used water but today it's coated really well and really hard to break.
Avatar n tn I find the buzzing in ears interesting, I have the same thing on my left side, I asked the Doctor when they did my biospys last week, he said my blood pressure was a little high, for a person who has always had low blood pressure, that day I had a migrane, and it was 130/88 but has come down since, just wondering if anyone else has had the buzzing, ringing in ears and any neck pain.
Avatar f tn ok, my doc initialy said when all this thyroid startrd was she was trying to figure out my depression lack of energy so she checked my throid levels and they were just a little off and said i was hypothroid, that was almost two years ago and i started with 25 mg a day in the morning and then my throid level dropped, again i wasnt paying attention to the numbers on whtat test, i had no cause for concern, shes my doc, i figired shes the one with the degree so i just did what she said so, in any ca
Avatar n tn I am on 150 mcg Synthroid and 12.5 mcg generic cytomel and my doctor thinks that I have too much medication, which is lowering my labs and creating worsening symptoms. I have cold intolerance, my hair is falling out, severe constipation, I am fatigued, and I still have all of the hypo symtoms so I am confused. Here are my labs: TSH: <.01 range= .40-5.0 uIU/mL Free T3: 2.4 range 1.7-3.7 pg/mL Free T4: 1.1 range 0.7-1.
Avatar n tn So, out of network, I saw a doctor willing to work with supplements and hormones and returned to a combo of Levoxyl/Cytomel, will bring in Selenium, some B12 and an Adrenal Support. Also recommended was a very small amount of liquid Iodine 1-2 x a week. Here are the past two labs and the medication doses I was on. Since the change to Tirosent and the increase to 30 mcg Cytomel, I am more tired. And can't seem drop an ounce of weight, despite a really strict diet.
Avatar f tn The bone density has actually gotten a little better and through blood tests and EKG and a stress test, my heart has been just fine. But my primary doc is always worried because she's out of her depth, though she reads the articles from medical journals I give her so she knows what I'm trying to do, and she's seen the benefit in my general labs. Having EKG today w/ a general physical. Thanks again for the help !
280485 tn?1249013844 I know this can happen with low blood pressure and did in fact, happen to me many times when I was young getting up from a laying down postion. But it hasn't happend to me in at least 20 years and my blood pressure is always at the tall end of normal. This fainting thing seemed to happen for no reason while I was standing up!
909086 tn?1242660764 25 mcg of Cytomel to start is huge! And, when you start cytomel your suppose to cut your T4 med back by 20 mcg I believe. Second...you cannot treat with a T3 med without testing your Free T4 and Free T3...that is how you dosage and treat. T3 will supress the TSH and you cannot go by this whatsoever when on both meds. You should be having a Free T4 and Free T3 done with your TSH EVERY time. Cytomel and generic comes in 5mcg dosages for easier dosaging.
