Cymbalta withdrawal long

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta withdrawal long

cymbalta

Avatar f tn I stopped Cymbalta cold turkey 1 month ago.. I had taken it for 5-6 months... The brain zaps, what you are describing as electrical shocks running thru your body and brain, lasted for 3 weeks. Now I'm brain zaps free. The withdrawal torture can last for 1 month maybe a bit more depending on how long you've been on the medication.
Avatar n tn The only other thing ive been taking is the lowest dose of ativan 3 times daily, ran out about the same time as the cymbalta, and started at the same time as cymbalta, So my question is, is this some kind of withdrawal from either drug? I would think only one month wouldnt be long enough...
Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for a little over a month. How long will I experience withdrawal symptoms such as brain zaps and dizziness?
Avatar n tn some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
Avatar n tn I'm guessing you're suffering Effexor withdrawal, not Cymbalta withdrawal. It's not impossible to get a withdrawal from a short stay on a med, but unlikely. Sometimes a med just affects someone more profoundly than one would expect. But given you just came off Effexor, that being one of the hardest meds to stop taking and one that can have long withdrawals, I'm guess you didn't successfully stop it slowly enough to prevent withdrawals.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Cymbalta for depression? If so, how long...what were the side effects if any? How long have you been taking it....are you happy with it?
530150 tn?1284658880 At that point, then it is safe to introduce the Cymbalta. On the day you introduce the Cymbalta you will discontinue the Effexor 37.5Mgs. This will ensure that your body is clear enough of the Effexor before starting the Cymbalta. These two meds do not mix well together. That's why it's important to reduce the level of Venlafaxine (Effexor) in your system before starting the Cymbalta.
750716 tn?1263734643 I ran out of my anti-depressant 6 days ago, and decided I wouldn't renew the request for more as I've done almost a week without them. The withdrawal symptoms are absolutely dreadful, there are pages and pages on google about the very subject. I'm not convinced the anti depressant was helping anyway as I'm often having mixed episodes even with a mood stabiliser added in, which is Tegretol.
18283265 tn?1463778032 It has also been suggested to me to switch from paxil to cymbalta, as cymbalta will help with all the aches and pains more than the paxil. But I am literally TERRIFIED to change meds as I have had such difficult experiences in the past. I do have klonopin that I can take as needed, but I'm so afraid of addiction to another med that I have taken like one in the past two years. I practice lots of meditation, yoga, and other therapeutic practices.
Avatar f tn Past two weks my anxiety has tripled so my doc put me on cymbalta. Will Cymbalta increase my anxiety like the Lexapro I hear they are similiar? Are there any odd side effects. Doc is starting me on 30 mgs.
Avatar m tn d go even slower getting off the Zoloft before going to Cymbalta to avoid withdrawal -- the protocols usually call for a six week taper just to be safe, and some need longer. So I'd listen to the cautious docs. I know you want to fell better quickly, but you don't want to feel worse and you're quitting the Zoloft very quickly as it is. Good luck.
Panda I cannot diagnose your current symptoms but it certainly could be that you did experience a withdrawal reaction to Cymbalta. In my patients with similar reactions I would expect that these symptoms may take 7-10 days to clear but certainly close follow-up with your physician is necessary, In my patients, when I attempt to wean my patients off cymbalta, I will sometimes have them reduce just one dose a week (ie take 60mg 6 days a week and 40mg once a week). I hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn I would be reluctant to say you need to change your medication. I take zoloft and the biggest difference with zoloft and Cymbalta is Cymbalta is also prescribed to treat chronic pain. So I don't know exactly how long you have been taking it but it seems like it would be beneficial. If it is being prescribed as a long term therapy medicine than it likely you won't have to be worried about the withdrawal symptoms anyway.
Avatar f tn Hi y'all, I've been struggling with clinical major depressive disorder/ anxiety for 11 years and have been on multiple meds. At this time I'm on lamictal, Wellbutrin, Klonipin, and cymbalta (treating to detox off and try fetzima). I am only 27 and just want relief. I've been on Klonipin for 4 years ( far too long) and I am at the point where I only take it to avoid getting sick with withdrawal.
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if cymbalta along with colonidine will help at all with tramadol withdrawal im on my first day of cold turkey and someone handed me these meds and said these would help please let me know as soon as possible im in a dark place right now but i am dam determined to succeed at this effort Thank You.
Avatar n tn Also ask you doctor and pharmacist for a proper tapering schedule for Cymbalta. Maybe for withdrawal reasons you can break the capsules and take some twice a day and slowly taper off. At that point I really don't know. My advices for now is that you should talk to your doctor and pharmacist to tell them your intention of quitting this drug. Being referred to a psychiatrist sounds like a possible option to maybe try other medications for withdrawal purposes.
Avatar f tn I haven't taken Cymbalta or Paxil, so I can't give a personal withdrawal experience for those specific drugs. However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
1442059 tn?1340240952 Feeling pretty down does anyone have anything good to say about cymbalta.? I have high anxiety as well as lupus and a hep c treatment on the horizon. I know they will give me an anti depressant and I was hoping for some input. Most others make me feel bad.
Avatar m tn Hi! I have been taking Paxil for 20 years. I have recently been struggling w/ more intense anxiety and depression and irritability. I am switching from Paxil to Cymbalta, and am down from 30 mg of Paxil to 5 mg, and then up to 60 mg of Cymbalta. I feel like I am having a racing heart/palpitations. I am not sure if it's anxiety, Paxil withdrawal, side effects from Cymbalta, or there is something wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn It's not the way I would do it, especially since they're different classes of medication, cymbalta being an snri and Paxil an ssri. Further, if you take both at the same time, you won't know if something you feel is a side effect of Cymbalta or of withdrawal from Paxil. Both are very difficult for many to quit. If it were me, I'd want to quit the Paxil slowly, tapering down, getting through any withdrawal before starting another strong med like cymbalta.

Avatar n tn Is it possible that my rash that I thought was from Cymbalta is actually a withdrawal symptom of it? I have been trying to get off Cymbalta because of the rash, but it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I have this all wrong...
Avatar f tn Everybody's been sued already, and the cases have been won. You're very late to the game on the legal stuff. It started with Paxil a long long time ago and it's still on the market, so you're not going to get anywhere suing. By now, everyone is probably considered to be fairly warned that these drugs are very very very hard to stop taking.
