Cymbalta withdrawal crying

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta withdrawal crying

cymbalta

Avatar n tn I'm guessing you're suffering Effexor withdrawal, not Cymbalta withdrawal. It's not impossible to get a withdrawal from a short stay on a med, but unlikely. Sometimes a med just affects someone more profoundly than one would expect. But given you just came off Effexor, that being one of the hardest meds to stop taking and one that can have long withdrawals, I'm guess you didn't successfully stop it slowly enough to prevent withdrawals.
Avatar f tn I stopped Cymbalta cold turkey 1 month ago.. I had taken it for 5-6 months... The brain zaps, what you are describing as electrical shocks running thru your body and brain, lasted for 3 weeks. Now I'm brain zaps free. The withdrawal torture can last for 1 month maybe a bit more depending on how long you've been on the medication.
534105 tn?1226157177 the same way the cymbalta. Who knows. I tried before Zoloft, and I was a mess, all day in bed crying for 20 days. I think I was dying. That was when my Dr change to Cymbalta. Now I am not sure at this momernt if it is possible to change to another AD. My main problem always since I was very young (I am 51 now) has been anxiety, not depression.
Avatar f tn I have been on 60mg Cymbalta for about 7 years. I decided to go off the medicine since I felt it was making me emotionally numb, foggy, hungry all the time, basically a zombie... the list goes on and on. I started to stop taking it slowly and when I reached the every 2 days part of weaning I went off cold turkey from there. The brain shocks and other withdrawal reactions were unbearable. I started feel great for about 1 week and then crashed. I have been severely depressed and anxious.
Avatar f tn My own opinion, and it's only that, is that you suffered one of the big drawbacks of snris, which is a wallop of a withdrawal when you try to stop taking it. You stopped almost cold turkey, two weeks being a very short time to stop taking these drugs. The Zoloft doesn't substitute for Cymbalta -- no drug would, really -- and the symptoms you describe are classic withdrawal symptoms.
Panda I cannot diagnose your current symptoms but it certainly could be that you did experience a withdrawal reaction to Cymbalta. In my patients with similar reactions I would expect that these symptoms may take 7-10 days to clear but certainly close follow-up with your physician is necessary, In my patients, when I attempt to wean my patients off cymbalta, I will sometimes have them reduce just one dose a week (ie take 60mg 6 days a week and 40mg once a week). I hope you feel better!
Avatar n tn The only other thing ive been taking is the lowest dose of ativan 3 times daily, ran out about the same time as the cymbalta, and started at the same time as cymbalta, So my question is, is this some kind of withdrawal from either drug? I would think only one month wouldnt be long enough...
Avatar f tn How long does it take for the withdrawal symptons to go away? I got off Cymbalta 5/31 and had severe reactions, my dr put me on Prosac for six weeks, it helped. But I have been off Prosac since 7/25 and am still having some pretty bad withdrawal symptons. Head and body aches, electric shocks, paranoia, my feet hurt really bad, it's hard to walk on them and my ankles swell every day. Does it ever get any better?
Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for a little over a month. How long will I experience withdrawal symptoms such as brain zaps and dizziness?
4753943 tn?1359934569 Could anyone give me insight or advice on Cymbalta? Today my doc switched me from Effexor to Cymbalta because I have chronic back pain and she felt the Effexor was not helping me at all. My main concern is stopping the Effexor. Has anyone switched like this before? I want to know if I should still expect the intense Effexor withdrawal symptoms such as brain zapping, nausea, dizziness, and crying spells. Any advice would greatly help. I want to know what I'm getting myself in to!
1348086 tn?1370783185 Pristiq is ''the new Effexor, if you had success with Effexor and Cymbalta in the past I think it's a good choice. It depends on what you are expecting from a drug. The tricyclic SNRIs are rather sedating while the SNRIs are stimulating. Do you want to take your medication at night or during the day? Do you suffer from insomnia or hypersomnia? Those are questions that needs to be answered for a better medication choice even tho everyone can react differently to drugs.
480448 tn?1426948538 Just wanted to get some input from those of you who have had experience with Cymbalta. I post this poll with the understanding that everyone is different....I just would like some info. Thanks all!
Avatar f tn I haven't taken Cymbalta or Paxil, so I can't give a personal withdrawal experience for those specific drugs. However, I have taken other SSRIs and SNRIs, and while the withdrawal effects can be really unsettling and uncomfortable, they do decrease in severity and eventually go away with time. I wonder whether the tremors are a side effect from starting Paxil, or a withdrawal symptom from weaning off the Cymbalta, or both?
Avatar n tn some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn It's not the way I would do it, especially since they're different classes of medication, cymbalta being an snri and Paxil an ssri. Further, if you take both at the same time, you won't know if something you feel is a side effect of Cymbalta or of withdrawal from Paxil. Both are very difficult for many to quit. If it were me, I'd want to quit the Paxil slowly, tapering down, getting through any withdrawal before starting another strong med like cymbalta.
530150 tn?1284658880 At that point, then it is safe to introduce the Cymbalta. On the day you introduce the Cymbalta you will discontinue the Effexor 37.5Mgs. This will ensure that your body is clear enough of the Effexor before starting the Cymbalta. These two meds do not mix well together. That's why it's important to reduce the level of Venlafaxine (Effexor) in your system before starting the Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn Is it possible that my rash that I thought was from Cymbalta is actually a withdrawal symptom of it? I have been trying to get off Cymbalta because of the rash, but it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I have this all wrong...
Avatar f tn I 'cold-turkeyed' cymbalta several years ago, and I suffered fatigue, severe mood swings, crying jags and rebound depression. Once I started an SSRI antidepressant these largely went away. Someone else I know had a terrible time with the brain-zaps and other weird sensations even when tapering so it varies widely. I think doctors can use another antidepressant like prozac to replace the cymbalta and then taper that one down to help with the side effects of withdrawal.
Avatar f tn Would you recommend stopping Effexor and switching to Cymbalta? Will Cymbalta reduce the withdrawal effect? My daughters were both recently put on Cymbalta, and their depression is much better, and they claim they are "thinking more clearly". Thanks for your input.
1168718 tn?1464983535 t have luck with either one. Cymbalta had more side effects for me than Gabapentin. You can try Cymbalta, but the withdrawal is terrible. Be careful !!!
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there on Cymbalta? My Dr. switched me today and I am so afraid of the side effects. Ive been on Lexapro for the past 3 years but feel I might be immuned to it. He added Wellbutrin but it made me extremely anxious.....
Avatar f tn For personal experience I can tell you that Cymbalta does cause withdrawal symptoms (abstinence syndrome). I was on Cymbalta for 6 months as prescribed for my Psychiatrist, after that I decided to do some research about possible withdrawal symptoms because my bad experience with lexapro in 2005. I found that Cymbalta can cause severe symptoms from withdrawal abruptly.
396332 tn?1320003615 Digestive problems are one of the most common symptoms of antidepressants. If the drug is working for you otherwise, you can try remedies such as aloe juice and digestive enzymes. If it isn't working for you, then yes, you should try something else, but taper slowly and work with your psychiatrist when doing so. If the psychiatrist doesn't seem to understand or empathize with withdrawal problems, find another.
Avatar f tn i have tried several....effexor, celexsa....but this i only took about 5 days. after two nites of severe nite sweats, i was drenched, the third nite...nothing. Thought this was great....that's when the diarrhea started. Didn't connect it, but after 4 days saw doc again...gave me half dosage to take to wean myself off. everytime i would take any dosage the diarrhea would start...finally just stopped taking it.. the withdrawal symtoms were scary...
1442059 tn?1340240952 Feeling pretty down does anyone have anything good to say about cymbalta.? I have high anxiety as well as lupus and a hep c treatment on the horizon. I know they will give me an anti depressant and I was hoping for some input. Most others make me feel bad.
