Cymbalta with or without food

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta with or without food

cymbalta

Avatar f tn Hepatic failure, sometimes fatal, has been reported in patients treated with Cymbalta. Cymbalta should be discontinued in patients who develop jaundice or other evidence of clinically significant liver dysfunction and should not be resumed unless another cause can be established. Cymbalta should not be prescribed to patients with substantial alcohol use or evidence of chronic liver disease.' Also Cymbalta should never be stopped suddenly.
Avatar m tn m confused.......is your doctor giving you Suboxone with Oxocodone ? As far as the Cymbalta It is very effective on depression and pain. The only thing is you need to taper off it or you will feel sick. It's great that your doctor is helping you get off the Oxy just don't let him load you up on too many other meds. It's too easy to swap addictions.
Avatar f tn My son takes a medication that is specific WITH food and also another that says you pick with food or without food, but stay consistent with it. I think Coreg, from my reading, is food optional but the recommendation is that with food is better because it slows the rate of absorption. This is to prevent orthostatic hypotension (this is when bp drops and you get dizzy when you stand up). If you aren't having that problem by not taking it with food, then may not be a worry for you.
Avatar m tn m a little confused did the symptoms start a week later or four days later, or before you started taking the full time meds again (with pregnancy a lot of time your doctor will keep you on low dose or as needed with SSRIs and bezos to keep the withdrawal symptoms from affecting your baby) You asked if it could be withdrawal from the Klonopin when did you stop/restart taking it?
Avatar f tn Hi there. Ugh, weight gain. I certainly don't need any more help with that considering my love of food! The thing with antidepressants and medications is that it is very individual. What happens to one person does not mean it will happen to another. In the literature of many medications, you will read that studies show it to be weight neutral meaning that as many people on it gained weight as lost weight.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was in a smiliar situation with the effects of Cymbalta not helping. I was on Cymbalta about a year and honestly I don't think it did alot for me, however, I was going thru my Dad's illness and death at that time so it is hard to say. Anyway the doc switched me back to Effexor XR without any tapering or down time nd I had no side effects at all. Effexor is normally started at low dosage of 37.5 mg. and increased to 75, 150 and the maximum dosage is 225 mg.
1094370 tn?1317134825 You stated that you excessively worry about what is wrong with you. Hopefully, the Cymbalta will reduce your anxiety. If it turns out that anxiety was the root of your problems. Please come back and post. A lot of people are not willing to give SSRI's a try. You could help others with a similar situation. Congratulations on getting better and keep a positive and open mind.
1610967 tn?1314811101 I am currently taking cymbalta. I know it has helped me lose weight and my food also taste strange or it could be that I am not as hungry as I usually am and food just has no more meaning to me like it used too.
Avatar n tn wanted me to try low dose Cymbalta for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and did not have the 30 mg samples so i was given the 60 mg with instructions to empty the capsules into food, as this would reduce the dose by approximately half. I became very ill with vomiting and severe diarreah. I was up all night running to the bathroom and was concerned when i looked up information on cymbalta that said not to open capsules.
804276 tn?1480858056 i take adhd meds along with a host of other meds for various reasons but i've heard cymbalta helps with pain so i'm hoping it will help enough to get off pain meds. i don't know if you will be able to get off pain meds but it's worth a try, maybe we can at least cut down on them! narnia41, posted above, said it didn't help and may cause mania which i don't need, and is hard to get off of.
Avatar f tn Sorry you're going through such hell. I am not a doctor, so please consider that when I give you my advice. I don't know if the Cymbalta is a pill or capsule. If it's a pill, could you go back on it every two days for a short while, then VERY gradually taper off? I'm talking using a pill slicer to cut the pills into carefully sized reduced dosages, so you wean yourself off over weeks instead of days. Just an idea. Ask your doc first. I wish you all the best, Cary.
Avatar m tn t done talk therapy in a couple years, I should venture down that avenue again, Cymbalta was the only one that got rid of a lot of my aches and pains you can feel when your dealing with depression, I definitely have a chemical imbalance so not taking any meds wouldn't be beneficial for me. What are you taking now?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm a 20 year old male with no major previous medical problems except for IBS I rarely need medication for. The only other thing worth mentioning is arthroscopic shoulder surgery 4 years ago from a sport injury. I have fair skin and have had rosacea for about 6 years. Over the past several months, however, I have noticed that my face gets very red and hot the same time every evening. It's so precise now that I can estimate the time just based on how I feel.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been on Cymbalta 60gm for almost 7 years and when I lost my health insurance for a few years, it was extremely expensive to have cymbalta without insurance---14 pill for $80.00. So I know where you are coming from. The longest I went without is 4-5 days and I felt dizzy, empty minded, had to really think before talking, major sweating at night, and crying all day or most the day. I have heard antidepressants are the hardest to get off of.
Avatar f tn What dosage of Effexor were you on, and what dosage of Cymbalta did you start with? My doctor said that he was going to put me on Cymbalta also. I'm on 150mg of Effexor and it just don't seem to help anymore. I wondered if I would go to the same dosage of Cymbalta.
1452582 tn?1285093344 He said the klonopin was a band-aid, and the Cymbalta will really start fixing the problem with my neuro-transmitters and serotonin or whatever. He said that Cymbalta could initially CAUSE anxiety (which is apparently what I have), so the Klonopin will help with that. He also said I should take the full prescription for the Klonopin (.25mg three times a day). I'm really not wanting to go on all these drugs, and wanting to get better on my own.
356518 tn?1322263642 The agency plans to post a quarterly list—in compliance with a requirement of the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act, which was signed into law in September 2007—of medications being investigated for such problems. Despite the agency's concerns, patients shouldn't stop taking medications on the list without first talking to their doctors, the FDA advises.
Avatar f tn Has anybody ever tried cymbalta or savella and does it help ,quickly sigh....I have been on 3ml of ativan a day for 3 years (too long) in hopes that I would be able to find a SSRI to help so I could wean off as it doesnt do much anymore and makes me cold brrr....With fibro it makes one more sensitive to meds and I find the SSRI's make my fibro worse.
Avatar f tn Whenever you start two drugs or treatments at once you can never be sure which to credit with improvement or blame for problems. You might want to ask your doctor what he thinks but I would want to start the one that targets the most pressing problem first. I'm guessing that would be the Cymbalta because it is given for pain and mood and that always seems to be #1 priority. Pain relief itself can give you a little extra zip.
Avatar m tn t know if you have a history with drug use or criminal behavior or mental confinement that led to his being your legal guardian, but strictly as a parent, any contact he has with your doctors is an invasion of your privacy. Simply tell your doctors they don't have your permission to speak with your father, and that ends that.
Avatar n tn hello, even though this post was years ago, I wanted to reply anyway since I have personal experience with this medication. I was put on Cymbalta right about the time it was new on the market. I was given the medication for depression, but mainly for chronic pain linked to depression as a symptom of being in pain for near 2 decades. From the first day I took it, it seemed to make me feel better and increased my mood.
233622 tn?1279334905 My stomach really reacts to the other ingredients in advil. And always always always take it with food.
1487057 tn?1288157745 My doc is of the school that people with BP should NOT be on ADs...or only rarely and with the addition of a mood stabilizer or anti-psychotic, and greater supervision. Other docs are of the other (older school). So I think both positions are now considered controversial. As for myself, every AD (including St. John's Wort) and with the possible exclusion of Wellbutrin has precipitated some form of mania...mixed, hypo, or full blown.
