cymbalta

400867 tn?1371753094 I have experience tremendous hair loss from Cymbalta. Has anyone else? It is very scary!
Avatar n tn I have gained alot of weight taking cymbalta. Is there any way to lose weight while on this medication. I exercise daily and watch what I eat but it has not helped.
Avatar f tn They sent a pain specialist in and she said I think there may be something wrong with her parasympathetic nervous system. They put me on Gabapentin and Cymbalta. Over the next couple of months I healed and was able to eat without pain. Fastforward to today. I weaned off Cymbalta in June and was down to a low dose of Gabapentin. The nerve pain started in my teeth after dental work two months ago.
Avatar f tn I suffer from OCD and have tried numerous serotonin meds, all of which I have had extreme side effects. My doctor put me on Cymbalta, but I have notices increased weight gain. I recently lost quite a bit of weight and no have put back on 15 lbs. She has suggested I try Luvox, but don't know if I should or not. I worked so hard to lose this weight and don't want to gain any more. I am at a loss of what decision to make.
Avatar n tn Yes it is true that Cymbalta helps with pain, it is often used to help people coming off strong painkillers, I don't know the full details though. It sounds like you have been prescribed the anti depressants to help with the anxiety, as they treat both.
Avatar f tn Well that's very great news. Some of us are on medications that don't cause weight gain and it is much better. But some of us still are and the medications still work and don't cause other problems. For myself, the mood stabilizer I take Clonidine causes weight gain. I bought some chocolates today and I had already eaten dessert. I was going to snack on them anyway but I told myself not to or the weight gain would start so I didn't.
102999 tn?1326855784 I work my butt off and still the weight stays. I am beginning to think the Klonopin may be hindering weight loss. I will talk to my Dr about all of this when I do see him - but that isnt for months. So, I am curious what some of you may have to say about whether or not Klonopin may be the weight culprit and/or suggestions of whether or not I should try to taper off (and how). Or I would just like to hear your stories about the medication. Thanks a lot!!
Avatar f tn I have yet seen any horrible side effects, I have gained weight but that is more than likely due to the lithium I take. Cymbalta is expensive, and a lot of insurance companies won't cover it, so make sure to call your insurance company to see how much of it they will cover.
Avatar n tn I sometimes think doctors don't tell you the real percentage of weight gain with a drug. I was on cipralex for years and it didn't matter how much I worked out, weight loss was minimal. On a high carb diet and no excercise, I gained 40 or so lbs. Everytime I go off of cipralex I lose weight. I don't care what they say, cipralex causes weight gain. I was on mirtzapanine for a short while and I felt happy for once but together with the cipralex the 30 lbs came back within a month!
Avatar f tn The paroxitine is an SSRI and the weight gain can be a side effect. I just looked on the web for a statistic and it said about 25 percent of people experience weight gain. As with any medication, it should never be stopped suddenly. These medications need to be tapered down slowly so that you don't experience side effects. The best thing to do is to talk to your doctor as soon as you can and tell him/her that you have stopped taking it.
Avatar n tn anyone had - done had this happen- putting on weight is a pain in the *** cos i feel so down about it.... any advice peoples? im new to this forum - im from AUSTRALIA & would LOVE to find someone HERE that actually is an EXPERT on this stuff- they are all so HAPPY to dispense it but - alot of docs have no idea what they are doingto our lives....
Avatar n tn Namaste, Clinical studies of Cymbalta have shown that up to 11 percent of people taking Cymbalta reported a loss of appetite, and up to 2 percent of people reported weight loss. On average, people lost about one to three pounds while taking Cymbalta.
1610967 tn?1314811101 I have had other medications cause changes in weight and appetite including some that caused weight loss and a decrease in appetite.I have not had the two occur together but it would be worthwhile to discuss this with your psychiatrist. Also it could be an interaction of the various medications so depending on the cause and extent of the problem they should be able to decide how to appropriately address this and adjust and/or change your medications as needed.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Concerta is quite well known to cause weight loss, common complaints of appetite being suppressed, not being hungry, feeling full etc occur in all ages and gender. Significant weight loss is probably one of the more common reasons for a change in medication, so i would definitely recommend discussing your weight loss concerns with your prescribing dr.
Avatar n tn t advocate the use of B12 injections for weight loss. You might find more help asking your questions on The Weight Loss Alternatives forum.
403156 tn?1290150018 Thanks for the suggestion. Sure, we can Remeron to the list of treatments. We'll let you know when it's available.
Avatar m tn I've been on Cymbalta for probably 7 years. I'm at the 90 mg dose once a day I was thinking of asking Dr. To up it or change it to something where I won't gain weight or helps in weight loss.
5377229 tn?1367102940 Sister having horrible reactions during withdrawl from cymbalta and abilify. What can she do to help herself? She w as taken off both on Wednesday and put on prozac. Can she use tylenol for the headache? Someone told her it is not safe to do. Another person suggested melatonin. Is that safe? She is bi polar and has gained over 100 lbs on these meds over the last 6 years. This is ridiculous! Will she gain on prozac also? What is wrong with these psychiatrists, anyway?
Avatar f tn I ended up trying topomax after that and it worked pretty well. One of the side effects of topomax was weight loss and I think it had a hand in helping me lose 50lbs. Which helped with joint pain, of course because I didn't have to carry that 50lbs around on my small frame. The side effects you've had from cymbalta/savella sound like the ones I had with paxil/ultram. I developed Seratonin Sydrome (which was acknowleged as a risk).
1305597 tn?1275336446 What if you control your food intake do you still gain weight. I am on cymbalta and I am never hungry but it is giving me other bad side effects so I am afraid the doctor is going to change it and all the other options I have read about all say weight gain. I also have an eatting disorder and for me weight GAIN is not an option.
Avatar f tn Is weight gain the norm for Cymbalta? I excercise regularly, watch my diet and still am not able to loose anything. It is very frustrating. I am on thyroid, but have it checked regularly, am a breast cancer survivor, take fosamax, and prescription Vit. D. Could any of that be associated with being unable to loose weight?
Avatar f tn I took Cymbalta for two years and I found it to be weight neutral - no weight gain. Your weight problems are more likely because of your thyroid than Cymbalta.
Avatar f tn I called my doctor today and the nurse told me the reason for the 150 mg was that my family doctor wanted to help me with extra weight loss and thought this might do the trick. I asked about Cymbalta as I am taking 60 mg and he increased it to 120 mg, sort of nervous about this as it is designed at high doses for people with pain. That isn't me. We will see. The endocrinologist indicated my doctor had me in hyperthyroidism.
