394774 tn?1235070839 I had some lyrica left before being prescribed the cymbalta and noticed that by taking only one cymbalta in the morning and one of the left over lyrica at night with the AmbienCr I have been feeling a whole lot better. If the weather is bad then I take Vicodin for pain as needed. So maybe it just may work for you and in that sense.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Hello there, Cymbalta is a SNRI which mean it will affect your serotonin level but also your norepinephrine level which can be translated into adrenaline which results into a energy boost and less pain. I am on Cymbalta and Lyrica for chronic nerves pain due to compression of the suboccipital triangle causing pressure on the C2 originating nerves resulting in occipital neuralgia and myofacial pain.
Avatar n tn Here are some of the treatment options - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
Avatar m tn I thought it was from the Effexor and Lyrica withdrawal so I kept taking Cymbalta for quite awhile. Finally realized it was the Cymbalta. I went to my doctor and he ended putting me back on Effexor and Gabapentin. So I went through all of that hell and was basically back to where I started. That's about it in a nutshell.
Avatar f tn I have been on Lyrica for my fibromyalgia and after a year or so it caused my legs to swell. I stopped takng it the swelling never went away and my nerve pain is back with a vengence. Is there any other pain treatments for nerve pain n Lyrica and gabother theapenton?
Avatar f tn What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
217229 tn?1192762404 OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.
217229 tn?1192762404 I take Lyrica & Cymbalta. I works very well for me. Lyrica is not a new drug, just "new" for fibro. It affects the nerve receptors in the brain. It has helped me a great deal. Cymbalta also helps with the nerve pain.I definitly recommend giving it a try. It is started at low dose, then increased slowly.(Lyrica)It took me to get to 200mg a day before I saw improvement, and 400 to rally take away the pain. My problem is I'm fighting my insurance company to approve it. It is $125.
Avatar f tn Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia. Remember, Fibromyalgia is treatable without side effects but you need to find the right doctor and minimize all stresses.
Avatar n tn My mother, also soon to be 89, has been taking Lyrica for about 6 months. It was prescribed for Fibromyalgia, which I personnally think should be call "we don't know what the hell is wrong with you disease". I have also noticed a change in behavior. At times she is downright mean! She doesn't seem to be able to figure out if what she is saying is hurtful, and doesn't really care.
Avatar f tn Cymbalta is a strong AD..very much so but also used for pain..as is lyrica and neurontin being the top 3 drugs for fibro..trams nor narcotics are among the drugs of choice...stretching, ice, heat, massage, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers when needed all help as well as exercise. Seratonin release is a big part of tram addiction and u r getting pleny from the AD's...it may be best to talk to ur dr about it as 2 days off and going back and tapering now???? dunno....200 mgs..
451366 tn?1211304932 ve been on cymbalta for a year and have been put on lyrica (25) for a month has helpped with restless legs and Fibro abit, just increased to 75mg, had problems.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed and treated for my fibromyalgia by a pain management doctor several years ago, and then my primary care doctor continued that same treatment. My daughter was seen, diagnosed and treated by a Rheumatologist, and my mother was treated by a Rheumatologist. I went to a Rheumatologist for the first time today, I finally have insurance after 1 1/2 years without.
Avatar f tn Actually cymbalta is not just an antidepressant. Cymbalta works to relieve fibromyalgia pain is not entirely understood but it's thought that by increasing the activity of two naturally-occurring substances -- serotonin and norepinephrine -- it suppresses pain. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out.
1187243 tn?1268397011 There are three medications that are FDA approved in the US to treat Fibromyalgia, Cymbalta, Lyrica and Savella; however, most people are on unique medication management plans due to differing needs. Many people, especially those with overlapping conditions need to treat those conditions as well. Additionally, some people do not tolerate the approved medications or they just plain do not work for others.
Avatar f tn oh sorry mines all over as well shoot its in my scalp and down to my lumbar and from shoulder to shoulder darn thing about it is you never know is it from pinched nerves or fibromyalgia i take lyrica for it.
Avatar f tn ve tried both Cymbalta and Savella for my fibro - Cymbalta did nothing for my pain at all - Savella made me HORRENDOUSLY jumpy, irritable, heart racing, loose stools, etc. I will NEVER touch it again. I've heard of it helping some people, but I've heard more negative reports on it than the good. Mine was definitely one of the negative experiences.
Avatar n tn I've been on Lyrica for seven years. It made a huge difference when I first started it, but my pain control has gone downhill over the past six months.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My primary Dr prescribed Cymbalta 60mg and 1800 mg Gabapentin. I was still having debilitating pain after 5months. I recently saw another doctor who for once actually listened to me and took time with me which I did like and he did not write me off as someone just seeking medication. I have never been one to take a pill to fix ailments including for a headache. This new dr. Prescribed hydrocodone 7.
Avatar m tn My doctor is sending me to be "tested" for Fibromyalgia. She has told me, and from what I have read, it is a disease that is difficult to diagnose. What test(s) do they use and how painful are the test(s)? Also, is Fibromyalgia a hereditary disease? My mother had it and my aunt has had it for the last two years. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).
Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
