I 23 and have been suffering from pain for a very long time, and all other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.recently a doctor decided it was fibromyalgia. I have started on Cymbalta 4 weeks ago, 60mg and have found no pain releif, but have found that im getting some energy back. Is it known to be benificial to be on cymbalta and lyrica at the same time?
any recomendations i would greatly appriciate!!!!!!

I thought it was from the Effexor and Lyrica withdrawal so I kept taking Cymbalta for quite awhile. Finally realized it was the Cymbalta. I went to my doctor and he ended putting me back on Effexor and Gabapentin. So I went through all of that hell and was basically back to where I started. That's about it in a nutshell.
I have been on Lyrica for my fibromyalgia and after a year or so it caused my legs to swell. I stopped takng it the swelling never went away and my nerve pain is back with a vengence. Is there any other pain treatments for nerve pain n Lyrica and gabother theapenton?
What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia. Remember, Fibromyalgia is treatable without side effects but you need to find the right doctor and minimize all stresses.
My mother, also soon to be 89, has been taking Lyrica for about 6 months. It was prescribed for Fibromyalgia, which I personnally think should be call "we don't know what the hell is wrong with you disease".
I have also noticed a change in behavior. At times she is downright mean! She doesn't seem to be able to figure out if what she is saying is hurtful, and doesn't really care.
Cymbalta is a strong AD..very much so but also used for pain..as is lyrica and neurontin being the top 3 drugs for fibro..trams nor narcotics are among the drugs of choice...stretching, ice, heat, massage, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers when needed all help as well as exercise.
Seratonin release is a big part of tram addiction and u r getting pleny from the AD's...it may be best to talk to ur dr about it as 2 days off and going back and tapering now???? dunno....200 mgs..
I was diagnosed and treated for my fibromyalgia by a pain management doctor several years ago, and then my primary care doctor continued that same treatment. My daughter was seen, diagnosed and treated by a Rheumatologist, and my mother was treated by a Rheumatologist. I went to a Rheumatologist for the first time today, I finally have insurance after 1 1/2 years without.

ve tried both Cymbalta and Savella for my fibro - Cymbalta did nothing for my pain at all - Savella made me HORRENDOUSLY jumpy, irritable, heart racing, loose stools, etc. I will NEVER touch it again. I've heard of it helping some people, but I've heard more negative reports on it than the good. Mine was definitely one of the negative experiences.
I've been on Lyrica for seven years. It made a huge difference when I first started it, but my pain control has gone downhill over the past six months.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My primary Dr prescribed Cymbalta 60mg and 1800 mg Gabapentin. I was still having debilitating pain after 5months. I recently saw another doctor who for once actually listened to me and took time with me which I did like and he did not write me off as someone just seeking medication. My doctor is sending me to be "tested" for Fibromyalgia. She has told me, and from what I have read, it is a disease that is difficult to diagnose. What test(s) do they use and how painful are the test(s)?
Also, is Fibromyalgia a hereditary disease? My mother had it and my aunt has had it for the last two years.

Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).
Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
