cymbalta

310072 tn?1209735352 I can tell you I've been on Prozac (still am), Zoloft, Cymbalta, Elavil, and Trazadone. I am about to supplement the Prozac with a very low dose of Remeron (to assist in sleep--which is probably the biggest issue for me). And I am one who absolutely hates having to take medication. This has been a long time, ongoing battle. But I've found I am better able to cope and find my way through on these drugs then not. I'm down to a low dose of Prozac.
432223 tn?1206552625 I have severe peripheral neuropathy in my hands in feet. I am treated with Neurontin, 800 mg. TID, Elavil, 100 mg. at bedtime for the pain which blunts the pain somewhat. I have also had tarsal tunnel release surgery on both legs with little success. In your experience prescribing medications for neuropathy pain management, have you found Lyrica to have better results than the meds I am currently on?

Avatar n tn I would recommend that you get an EMG of the upper and lower extremity and a SSEP (somatosensory evoked potential) to assess the degree of problems that are coming from pinched nerves vs spinal cord compression. I would also recommend that you switch pain medications. Each person responds a differently, and if one is not working you should give others a try. Medications such as neurontin, elavil, effexor, cymbalta, tegretol, etc.
Avatar n tn There are many numerous medications used for this purpose, some of which include elavil (amitripyline), Topamax (topirimate), Nadolol, verapamil. That being said, I would also suggest an MRI of your brain and cervical spine with contrast to evaluate for additional pathologies (such as tumors, vascular malformations, multiple sclerosis). Multiple sclerosis in particular can present with episodic dizziness (which should show up on the MRI of that is the case).
Avatar m tn I have taken all non narcotic pain meds and mucles relaxers, lyrica, nuerontin, elavil and nothing works. I am supposed to go to PT to help stretch out those muscles down there. I hope it helps but I heard its very painful. They only have one PT that specializes in that area in Louisiana. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Treatment also includes medications for neuropathic pain including Neurontin, Lyrica, Elavil, Cymbalta, Topamax, Effexor, etc. Given your history of suicidal thoughts, I would also recommend that you see a mental health profesional to help you cope with the stress this has placed on your life. I hope this has been helpful.
5079728 tn?1365553589 Anti-depressants such as Celexa, Cymbalta, Elavil, Effexor, Lexapro, Paxil, Prozac, Seroquel and Zoloft have black box warnings because they can increase the risk of suicidal behavior. Bupropion, also known as Wellbutrin (as an anti-depressant) and Zyban (as a smoke cessation aide) has a black box warning for suicidal tendencies and suicide completion.
Avatar f tn Tremor in right hand that comes and goes - but could be the side effect of one of my meds 2. Electric shooting - again I think side effect of anti depressant I no longer take - cymbalta- so it has decreased but still comes at times 3. Bowel difficulty - like it doesn't want to work - like I can't make the muscles work - weird but I have a bulging disc in my back and it showed up soon after a cortisone shot to my spine for lower back pain so I thouhg it was that. Lasted about 4 months 4.
Avatar f tn I had a very bad reaction of mania with anorexia with the Effexor-XR and same thing happen with the Pristiq and the Cymbalta... Also, my autonomic nervous system tend to be overstimulated easily by all the meds who touch the NE receptors... Maybe that's why I have a problem taking the Paxil cause it's the only one SSRI who affect the NE (noradrenaline)?... But anyway, I try the Celexa again in january and even at 1 mg I had a very fast pulse rate...
Avatar n tn I am on Neurontin, Tegretol, trileptal, seraquel, cymbalta, protonics, atenenol and clonopin also. I am always in pain, constipated, either sleep for days or dont sleep at all for days. I am so messed up by this pain. I have not worked in 2 years and my life is basically just falling apart. I saw that you all mentioned weight loss and I could really use that considering I have gained 50 pounds since this all started mostly due to lack of leaving the house and all the meds.
Avatar n tn Hello everyone! I just started on 50 mg of Elavil about 3 weeks ago. I only take it once a day before bedtime. My orthopedic doctor is actually who recommended it after I told him that I was constantly losing my temper (along with unpredictable mood swings), always in pain and just couldn't sleep. As a 34-year old mother of 3 with osteoarthritis in both hips, the lower back and left knee, along with mood swings out of control, this drug has done wonders!
Avatar f tn So the doctor wanted me to take either lyrica or cymbalta..I declined because of the weight gain I have read about. I have recently had 3 rounds of steroid injections in my back that did not help. So my doctor said that Topamax could help with the pain and will not make me gain weight. I am not trying to loose weight but would not cry if I did. I would however want to curl up and die if my hair fell out. I have had it fall out before from stress and from just getting older I am 43.
Avatar n tn Your medication check has detected interactions involving Cymbalta, Fenobibrate, Levothyroxine, Diazepam, Benicar and Lovastatin, and identified at least one medication with a red risk rating. This means you may be at increased risk of serious side-effects, and should closely monitor your progress on these medications with your doctor.
393685 tn?1425816122 I was dx with hypothyroidism Jan 08 after dealing with extreme fatigue, was put on 88mcg Synthroid after working with an endo and then sent to a rheumatologist who dx with fibromyalgia. Was put on Meloxicam, Soma and Elavil to help with "fibro symptoms." Starting feeling much better for about 6+ months until "crashing" with severe fatigue plus a new symptom - lacation- Dec 08. Gynocologist sent me to have MRI to look at pituitary even though prolactin levels were normal.
