I am saying a tolerance as in it calms me do down an relaxes kind of like a sedation effect. The cymbalta works pretty nicely.

I tried Cymbalta prior to trying Pristiq. I had to stop Cymbalta because after 3 months even at high dosages it just was not helping with the symptoms of my depression. On to Pristiq. I ended up on 100Mgs a day with Pristiq and took it for a good 5 months, it worked ok, but not well enough to cover my symptoms. I then got off Pristiq. (I must tell you that the withdrawl from Pristiq is very strong. MUCH worse than even with Cymbalta or Effexor.

Lexapro was one I recall, but honestly I believe many of them raise your tolerance for pain. Part of the chemical make up. A nice side effect.

I have been taking 30mg of cymbalta for POTS for 2.5 years. It solved my rapid heart rate but recently my dizziness and lightheadedness and fuzzy vision have been worse. Do you think I am getting used to this drug? And after reasearaching on the web, why do I never see info about POTS and cymbalta?

i currently take cymbalta 60 mm once a day 2 mg kolipin in morning and 1 mg at night and now dr has put on 1mg ativan as needed. does anyone have any thoughts.

How long have you been on this med? Sometimes we can build up a tolerance and they quit working. Are you taking an antidepressant too? I'm sorry to hear your Dr won't listen to you. If you meds are not working then it's time for a change.

Hello, I took zyprexa (antipsychotic) for 4 years and have taken cymbalta (antidepressant) for 5 years. I gained a lot of weight (50lbs), and started to have insulin resistance problems and high glucose levels. I was put on metformin 500mg once a day for a year. I was told that if I lost the weight my numbers would go back to normal. I lost 40lbs, I am exercising and eating healthy. My doctor told me that I could quit metformin.

I want to know if anyone has switched safely from Cymbalta to Prozac? I was previously on Prozac for a couple of years and my dr. & I believed that it had stopped being as effective. I changed to Cymbalta with great results. However, I am starting to believe that it is no longer working and am considering changing back to Prozac. Has anyone else had trouble with the drugs effects tapering off like that? And if so, how do I go about safely making the change?

Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. Yes, I was in a smiliar situation with the effects of Cymbalta not helping. I was on Cymbalta about a year and honestly I don't think it did alot for me, however, I was going thru my Dad's illness and death at that time so it is hard to say. Anyway the doc switched me back to Effexor XR without any tapering or down time nd I had no side effects at all. Effexor is normally started at low dosage of 37.5 mg. and increased to 75, 150 and the maximum dosage is 225 mg.

Feeling pretty down does anyone have anything good to say about cymbalta.? I have high anxiety as well as lupus and a hep c treatment on the horizon. I know they will give me an anti depressant and I was hoping for some input. Most others make me feel bad.

I have three choices. Add buspar(trying this first), switch to Cymbalta or increase my Klonopin. I originally started out at 2mgs of Klonopin many years ago, so I haven't built tolerance quickly. I am a recovering addicted of Vicodin, im 8 days clean. I started my Cymbalta today. I was just wondering If anyone is on it or has used it and has it worked? I was also put on klonopin to reduce the jittery speedy feeling that cymbalta gave me. I had to increasingly take more klon cause my body was building up a tolerance. Dr jeremy matuzak psych. Who needs his license revoked decided to take me off the klon overnight cause i was "taking too much" so therefore i stoped the cymbal overnight too. I have severe anxiety and SAD and i was taking it as needed for the extra anxiety the cymbal was causing. He was a total idiot.

OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.
