Cymbalta patient reviews

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta patient reviews

Avatar f tn You are explaining my diagnosis exactly-I began Cymbalta and Lyrica February 2008.It truly helped the nerve pain and brought my muscle pain down to almost manageable. The medication that you are on I would think would be extremely dangerous. They are very addictive and they are only a stop gap for the pain you are going through. Depression is a real waste of time and it pulls you down into a dark and deep. pit. I believe when we grieve for a loved one we are grieving for ourselves.
956292 tn?1334058469 I can't advise you on the meds he mentioned, although I've heard some bad reviews with cymbalta. Good news that Lyme test was negative, but I like the idea he will be re-testing to be sure. Take care.
1675455 tn?1328481707 Like you, I'm a pain patient. I'm not addicted mentally. I've never taken more than I was prescribed. I am just very uneasy about being on so much medication. I was on a lot more than you. When I was taking everything prescribed, I took 75 mcg. Fentanyl every 48 hours, 30 to 45 mg. oxycodone every 4 hours for breakthrough pain, 90 mg. Cymbalta a day for nerve pain, 800 mg. ibuprofen every 4 hours, compounding creams, .3 mg. Clonidine a day and 3 mg. Ativan a day.
Avatar n tn Why do doctors never suggest ultrasound as a treatment for fibromyalgia? I bought a machine off the internet for under $250, and it improved the severe pain I had for more than 20 years by about 80%, and allowed me to function better. This technology is 60 years old, but it fell out of favour about the same time soft tissue injuries began to rise. Coincidence? Let me ask my doctor. I spent $100,000 on shockwave treatments, which are basically just a ruinously expensive form of ultrasound.
900697 tn?1246542502 From what I read, this medication is similar to Cymbalta and Lyrica. I know Cymbalta takes a month or more to build up in your system. Based on this information, I think it is also a medication that you cannot just quit, you have to gradually step down. With Cymbalta they recommend stepping down over the course of several weeks, but it has been my experience that it is better to step down over the course of months.
Avatar n tn For me, the symptoms lists sounded alot like what Cymbalta did to me. Some do well on Cymbalta; some don't. It (Cymbalta) was a nightmare for me, and yes, I also believe it brought on a real uptick in just about uncontrollable anger (even tho I was really sick with fibro and a really bad, long acute Epstein Barr experience and other personal events).
Avatar f tn It's always been true that we find the best care when we build a trusting patient - doctor relationship. It's even more true today in this opiate phobic and complex climate. I suggest that you research your local medical providers - place their names in a search engine and spend time researching - read reviews and learn which ones are rated the best. It's not an easy task but it will be worth it. Once you select one - make an appointment and begin to build a good relationship.
Avatar f tn I do NOT want to be a problem patient. I honestly feel like a junkie, the way this woman has treated me. If I was ONE day early on a refill, I got this "look". I've had a horrible year, back surgery after not even recovering from the first one, major foot surgery before I was 100% from the back---constant pain and anxiety. I'm on Cymbalta which has begun to help, and Klonipin for the anxiety. Honestly?
1508881 tn?1313118501 Yeah the reviews are not good. But I take anything that my doctor tells me to. I figure I'll at least try it until my next appointment on the 23rd. I'm having RAF in January and her goal is to get me off opiates after that. So I think that's why she gave me this new drug. I doubt she would give me anything stronger even thought the Norco was not working at all for me so I'm not sure how this new drug will work since it's weaker.
1767882 tn?1331412769 Does anyone have any ideas here? Possible causes? Should she look into Cymbalta? How hard is it to get diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? Help!
1693900 tn?1306296819 , he finds nothing, sends me to ortho shoulder-nothing, EMG nothing, MRI of neck only-nothing. Rheumatologist throws Cymbalta at me and now on that. Meloxicam didn't help, Tramadol doesn't help. One day I take Tramadol with .5 Ativan and my pain was relieved. I sleep on my sides, it feels like a tight wide rubber band holding my fingers and hand/joint pain during day like I punched someone and it's the next day. Wrists when squeezed shift/crack.
Avatar f tn I am 100% honest with my doctor and we have always had a good patient/doctor relationship. With how extreme the damage is to my back and the nerves they have said "it is inoperable and all we can do is try to keep you comfortable". So you can imagine my shock when I got to my appointment yesterday and he told me "we have a problem".. I was baffled and asked "what?".. he said "I have the results of your urinalysis here and it's not good"...
Avatar f tn and frequent muscle cramps, including spasms in the neck/shoulder area that lock my neck at an angle, pull my shoulder back and are extremely painful. Seeing a neurologist for headaches. he has me on cymbalta; it worked for 2 months and now the headaches/eye pain/numbness is back. seeing a gastro guy for stomach stuff, he has me on Nexium for gastroparesis. Any ideas what might be causes all or most of the symptoms? Most doctors seem to focus on one symptom and don't look at whole.
Avatar m tn I filed complaints with patient relations to no real benefit. I'm now a patient of another medical facility out of the area because UCD kept screwing up. They routinely couldn't find a cancerous lymph node on ultrasound so I finally got fed up and went elsewhere...a hell of a note for a patient like myself who is highly educated, did their homework, and thought they had chosen wisely in their surgeon and facility.
190559 tn?1280615967 All those things should be done and handed in to the doctors office for her to review the case prior to your visit - As arranged she will do this free of charge and you will be involved in a short paid visit with this doctor after she reviews the reports to go over real results to get kalina back and away from those butchers ready to shock her. I am horrorified at this whole ordeal! 8. For you Debbie - research the Free T3 hormone and neurologic side effects online.
Avatar m tn You were an FDA drug reviewer from 1998 to 2008, working on well-known drugs like Cymbalta, Zyprexa, Concerta, Invega, Provigil and Saphris, and encountered the same kind of coercive working environment as the device reviewers. Ronald Kavanagh: That's correct. In the Center for Drugs [Center for Drug Evaluation and Research or CDER], as in the Center for Devices, the honest employee fears the dishonest employee.
489228 tn?1291535054 Lingeman is world reknown and only aceppts the worst of the worst cases, he is very selective The nurse states that my Insurance may be a problem as I am not covered in Michigan. I am hoping that after the Doc. reviews my films we can do an ER thing. Just a way to get around the insurance if ya know what I mean. I will Fed-Ex today and keep all posted.
Avatar n tn After trying a few differents things my doctor and I found that Cymbalta treated my exhaustion, aches, and some GI problems. After a month on 60 mg Cymbalta I was feeling better but couldnt focus for the life of me. We talked and as much as I hate stimulants, we tried 40 mgs of Vyvanse, which has worked wonders...took some getting used to, but helps a ton. Additionally, I am taking Oleptro occassionaly for sleep, Ammodium/Pepto/Tums for the stomach, and Klonopin for occassional anxiety.
193953 tn?1272078626 I want you to know, I am not a Doctor of any sorts. Please do not be misled by my Screen name. I am but another patient suffering from pain of a different kind than yours but what we do have in common is the use of the drug Lyrica.
Avatar f tn Then the diarrhea started again. He switched me to Cymbalta -- another six or eight weeks, same result. Immodium made no difference. (I stopped going to that doctor and stopped taking the Cymbalta. Big, big mistake -- had awful, terrible agony from stopping Cymbalta cold turkey -- felt like electric jolts in my brain.) Only this time the diarrhea didn't stop when the medication stopped. It's abated some since then -- August 2007 -- but has never fully gone away.
Avatar f tn Currently on Vicodin, Neurontin, and Cymbalta. Ok...where I am going with this is last March I had a hysterectomy. I had fibroids and endo, and my pain management DO thought perhaps my uterus was causing secondary pain to my back. I was put on Oxycodone-acetaminophen (Percocet) after my surgery. I really thought, WOW this has helped the back pain...until I went off the Oxy. I now know that the oxys were taking care of the back pain.
Avatar f tn I have read very mixed reviews. Some say it works and others say it doesn't do squat. I have children and don't really want to give up a month of my life finding out. Why change things when I have something that works? I just need a longer acting maybe slightly stronger dose? D)Just the general thought of taking something "off label" that is normally prescribed for heroin and narcotic addicts.
Avatar m tn Some doctors feel depression automatically comes with chronic pain. Maybe it does. I tried Cymbalta as it was supposed to help nerve pain and help with depression, but I had an adverse reaction to it and became very depressed. Now I could probably use an antidepressant but am nervous about trying another one. Migraines are brutal. I had them until I had my first baby at 30. Now that I'm in menopause, they're coming back, though not as often.
Avatar f tn but how you get there is different with each med, hence why there are so many varying experiences. Cymbalta tends to be a bit activating, so that may not be the best choice, ask your doctor about it. There's no way to predict how you will do on something else, but let's hope well. I STRONGLY urge you to have a back up plan in place to help deal with any side effects, should they occur. A short acting benzo would be appropriate.
Avatar f tn Prozac and Paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of Adderall and all the amphetamine products. [Wellbutrin and Cymbalta can block 2D6 at their higher doses.] If you take either of these two antidepressants together with an amphetamine, just watch out. You can significantly become overdosed on the amphetamine and suffer significant side effects. Often this interaction can unpredictably occur several months later.
Avatar n tn But I am not extremely overweight to begin with, I could certainly use to lose 15-20 lbs that I have gained since taking SSRI's (Zoloft, Effexor, Cymbalta, Lexapro, Prozac and Paxil). After only two days, soda tasted flat and gross. I do find myself thirsty and drinking lots of flavored water. My heels are tingly and I actually have insomnia (and I take the pill at bedtime). Today I feel like a walking zombie.
Avatar n tn Maybe, but I just don't have the chronic fatigue that often accompanies it, so the jury (me) is still out. As of today, I am not treating the fibro with Cymbalta or any of the other prescribed meds, and instead staying as active as possible - zumba, water aerobics, dancing, walking - but low impact things - regular massages and taking the odd OTC pain reliver as needed. On the flip side, My energy level is remaining high and has been since soon after EOT.
Avatar n tn I'm new to this forum. I take Lyrica and Cymbalta for Fibro and Depression. Been on Lyrica and Cymbalta for 6 years. Been working well together but the change temps kill me. I just want to curl-up in bed and wait it out. I just turned 41 this past week and I swear this disease gets worse each year.
Avatar n tn This after 24 years with the same company with nothing but excellent to exemplary reviews. Is this coincidence? None of these issues or symptoms had presented themselves before treatment. Despite having been told that I would most likely not be able to return to work and handle the responsibility and decision making my position required, I fought it and worked hard trying to overcome these deficencies I had aquired. Obviously I failed. No wonder I am struggling to fight depression.
Avatar n tn it lasted for about 1 year after i quit taking Cymbalta and now it coming back again.. i dont take any meds at all for fear of it happening but here it is.. again!! i just dont know what to do. its not painful but at the same time its SCARY! i need help with this and i cant find help anywhere.. they all just say well you have migraines.. so its got to be something with that.. i dont think it is.. i think its something in MY BRAIN. it just hit me out of no where..
