Cymbalta norepinephrine

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta norepinephrine

cymbalta

Avatar m tn I have to go off of Cymbalta because of side effects. The norepinephrine part was helping tremendously. Any way to help get the good stuff naturally. I would wake at a regular time like clock work. I had a sense of cognitive clarity that I did not have on Celexa.
Avatar n tn The Valium-Cymbalta combo is safe and is something I used in the past. He's behavioral changes are due to the new norepinephrine reuptake inhibition that he is getting with Cymbalta that he wasn't getting with Paxil. Of course taking 3 Valiums will make most people act like you described as ''He is slurring words, falling over, and just out of it.'' but it's not due to the Cymbalta of at least I really don't think so.
Avatar m tn Hello there, Prozac is an SSRI and Cymbalta is an SNRI. Prozac won't affect your norepinephrine level and will only affect your serotonin. Effexor is a cheaper SNRI that should gives you less side effect by preventing a norepinephrine withdrawal that might happen during the switch to Prozac. Please consider that I'm not a doctor and this should be discussed with your doctor.
480448 tn?1426948538 s a gamble because lack of serotonin can cause anxiety and too much norepinephrine can also cause anxiety. One thing i can tell you is that whith Cymbalta, healthy diet and exercise my anxiety and depression is gone. Not that effective for the occipital neuralgia tho. When i started it i had the common nausea side-effect and it was gone after 1 week.
Avatar m tn It seems that if norepinephrine is blocked via the alpha blocker than it would cancel out the effect of the norepinephrine re-uptake and subsequent positive effects of an SNRI.
Avatar m tn s a mild stimulant, but before I could suggest anything my doctor decided to send in a prescription for Cymbalta, which is an SSNRI. I figured that since Wellbutrin effects the norepinephrine AND dopamine in your brain and Zoloft just the seratonin, wouldn't combining both of them just create and overall increase of all three chemicals which is good? The Cymbalta only affects the seratonin and norepinephrine and still has the sexual side effects that I very much DISLIKE.
Avatar f tn , brain/spinal cord) recognition of pain. One major neurotransmitter involved in this is norepinephrine. Cymbalta works to modulate this change. Also, chronic pain usually has a strong underlying psychiatric mechanism which serotonin plays an important role. Effexor (or venlafaxine) is another SNRI that is similar to duloxetine in mechanism and usefulness. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
Avatar f tn Past two weks my anxiety has tripled so my doc put me on cymbalta. Will Cymbalta increase my anxiety like the Lexapro I hear they are similiar? Are there any odd side effects. Doc is starting me on 30 mgs.
314833 tn?1263259499 I had jerking movements the first months on Cymbalta. It might be due to the norepinephrine which is basically adrenaline. So if we put it into words with Cymbalta you are having a serotonin reuptake inhibitor and also an adrenaline ( norepinephrine ) reuptake inhibitor which might explain the stimulating effect and jerking movements.
Avatar f tn First, did you taper slowly off the Pristiq first before switching to Cymbalta? If not, it could be a withdrawal symptom. Second, these are both stimulating antidepressants targeting norepinephrine as well as serotonin, and if you're not metabolizing the Cymbalta as well as you did the Pristiq you might be missing the artificial stimulation of adrenalin you get from this class of drugs.
1237757 tn?1323143119 Does anyone know how close these two are related and if similar side effects could be expected. I noticed Cymbalta is also a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor which worries me. When he saw his psychiatirst initally he did mention that both myself and our other brother also have mental issues. But I'm not sure if he mentioned if I was Bipolar.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor). It's possible smoking pot may have affects these neurotransmitters. Dr Kaslow has a very indepth article entitled Neurotransmitter Repletion. I added a few excerpts... "Neurotransmitters are the naturally occurring chemicals inside your body that transmit messages between nerve cells. In the brain alone there are 183 different neurotransmitters.
Avatar f tn Desvenlafaxine ( Pristiq ) is a novel form of the isolated major active metabolite of venlafaxine, and is categorized as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It works by blocking the transporter "reuptake" proteins for key neurotransmitters affecting mood, thereby leaving more active neurotransmitters in the synapse. The neurotransmitters affected are serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline).
1344219 tn?1279201027 Cymbalta is not indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders. This is an adrenergic agent that primarily effects the turnover of Norepinephrine in the central nervous system. The drug is a stimulant, which is why it is used to treat more severe forms of endogenous depression. Therefore, it is more likely to worsen anxiety. Never-the-less, the drug takes several weeks to accumulate to a steady-state (therapeutic) level, and adverse reactions would not appear following a single dose.
Avatar m tn t work for you after giving it a month to take effect try a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI) like Duloxetine (Cymbalta, Yentreve). It acts a bit differently than the common selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) like Zoloft you are taking. So if Zoloft really don't work i would realy sugest the Cymbalta. Some info on Cymbalta Duloxetine (Cymbalta, Yentreve) is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor manufactured and marketed by Eli Lilly.
409410 tn?1251072712 I also noticed having them when Docs tried giving me Cymbalta and Effexor, which work on both. Can Tremors be a common side effect of psychotropic drugs. It's very annoying and worrying sense most of the shakes occur in my torso region in the middle of my chest. (By the way I've had many tests and there is nothing wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn I have felt like this probably for the last 5 years and the only thing that worked well was Cymbalta. Initially when I took it, it worked great, but then it seemed to stop. I have tried other antidepressants but nothing has worked as well. That is when I really began looking into my thyroid as the culprit. Anyway, here is my question.....should I begin Cymbalta again (doc says yes) even though I am just beginning a thyroid med.
396332 tn?1320003615 Ok so I have been taking Klonopin along with Cymbalta for a good 6 months. I started off taking .5 mg of klonopin about 1-2 times a day. Naturally over the months I started to gain tolerence to the drug. Now I take about 1mg of klonopin but just once a day. I notice this is starting to lose its effectivness now. If I taper down slowly can I gain effectiveness? Also how are klonopin withdrawl symptoms? I was on xanax for a while before this and I got off it with no problem.
Avatar f tn A common approach to this problem would be to add more norepinephrine activity either by switching to a medicine like Cymbalta (duloxetine) or Effexor (venlafaxine) or by adding a small dose of Wellbutrin (bupropion) to the Prozac. Increased norepinephrine activity should enhance motivation and focus. An alternative approach might be to try reducing slightly the dose of the Prozac... the apathy inducing effect of Prozac and other medications like it definitely seems to be dose related...
Avatar m tn I doubt that this is from the Cymbalta, and it may be that you don't even need the Cymbalta. Something is out of whack with your thyroid or something else in your endocrine system, which can also cause depression. I would make an appt. to see an Endocrinologist ASAP. Let us know what you find out and take care.
1345272 tn?1276400328 The reason why your doctor is tapering Celexa so quick is because Cymbalta is doing the same job as Celexa by inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin but what is different is the norepinephrine reuptake which make Cymbalta a SNRI (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) rather than a SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) like Celexa. I do think if you keep going with Wellbutrin and Cymbalta you will be doing just fine.
Avatar n tn some people have very uncomfortable symptoms, and others have none at all. Starting the Cymbalta may reduce your withdrawal to some extent, as Cymbalta is a serotonin (and norepinephrine) reuptake blocker, and some of the withdrawal from Tramadol comes from changes in serotonin activity. The withdrawal is not 'dangerous', so do your best to avoid concentrating on them. Distraction is one thing that can help reduce withdrawal symptoms.
