For personal experience I can tell you that Cymbalta does cause withdrawal symptoms (abstinence syndrome). I was on Cymbalta for 6 months as prescribed for my Psychiatrist, after that I decided to do some research about possible withdrawal symptoms because my bad experience with lexapro in 2005. I found that Cymbalta can cause severe symptoms from withdrawal abruptly.

Hello LA, Thanks so much for the response to my rant yesterday. I feel better today. Still have the double vision but like always my friends here cheer me up. To answer your question. I was on Cymbalta for about 6 weeks. I asked to be taken off of it. It was making me feel strange. Very "short Fused", irritated, grouchy. I started taking Effexor when this started and I went back to it just a higher dose now. I have seen where people here have got on it and it has helped very well.

I have found a website regarding cympbalta i am on 90 mg and my doctor was going to add 2 other kinds of depression meds ( we never got there) She told me to stop everything ( I think I am pregnant) before I took my cymbalta off I was having Dizzy spells enought to fell like I am fainting but not, vomitting A LOT.

My husband was perscribed Cymbalta along with Imitrex and Relpax for migranes. He went into a coma and had to be on a respirator in ICU for 3 days. Is this seretonin syndrome? The doctor claimed it was just a coma brought on by an intese migrane! Weird, Huh?

About 4 weeks ago my Doctor put me on Cymbalta. I tried it for a little over a week and had to stop taking it because of the sx. About a week after I stopped taking them was when I started feeling better. I don’t know if the Cymbalta may have “triggered” something or it is just a coincidence. For over a year now, I have been taking Cymbalta for depression. I didn't find out until last December that I indeed have MS. I have noticed that the Cymbalta does help the MS pain along with relieving my depression. Due to insurance changes, it will be less expensive for me to take a generic antidepressant in the same category as Cymbalta. I believe it is a Seratonin Uptake. I could be wrong. Does anyone else take Paroxetine (Generic for Paxil) and does it help you with the MS pains?

He told me that it would be dangerous to stop taking hydrocodone and going straight to Cymbalta. For the first two months he wants me to take the hydrocodone as prescribed and 30 days of Cymbalta 30 mg and another 30 days at 60 mg after that he said he would be able to get me off of the hydrocodone completely but it was unsafe if I didn't do both at the same time.

Hi, My doctor wants to put me on cymbalta for nerve pain that I have been having from an injury I have from 2005. It's nerve pain from a fall I took. He says it will help to calm down the nerves and signals from my brain to help with the pain. The prescription is for 30mg, 1 tab a day then increase to 2 tabs and recheck with him in a month. I'm alittle scared to take this, as I have never had to go on this kind of medicene and I'm afraid what the side effects might do.

Only took Cymbalta for 3 months but had side effects of being off balance lightheaded feeling like I am walking in a boat now I being taken off the drug and having nightmares the sweats headaches anyone had this experience with this drug?

Would you recommend stopping Effexor and switching to Cymbalta? Will Cymbalta reduce the withdrawal effect? My daughters were both recently put on Cymbalta, and their depression is much better, and they claim they are "thinking more clearly". Thanks for your input.

Did your doc just tell you to stop the Effexor and start the Cymbalta? What dose of Effexor are you stopping at, and what dose of Cymbalta are you starting at? Some people have seamless transitions, while others report some symptoms of a discontinuation syndrome, like you mentioned above. Hopefully, you'll have a smooth transition. Definitely let us know how you're feeling.

I have tried it all! Everybody is different. I am on 60mg of Cymbalta. I can't not take it though because it messes me up (if my insurance is messing around etc...) but if youre ready to be consistent, I'd try it.

That being said, her doctor was wise to switch her over to another medication like Cymbalta. 30Mgs of Cymbalta is a good starting point and this gives him option to ramp the dosage up as needed. Regardless of this fact, Cymbalta, May or may not be an effective medication for her. I tried Cymbalta for 7 weeks at 60Mgs per day (after 4 years on Effexor) and in my case it did NOTHING to help with my condition.

Cymbalta made my depression worse and made me pretty nauseated. But then, I never do respond to psychotropic drugs or antidepressants very well.

My Dr. wanted me to try low dose Cymbalta for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and did not have the 30 mg samples so i was given the 60 mg with instructions to empty the capsules into food, as this would reduce the dose by approximately half. I became very ill with vomiting and severe diarreah. I was up all night running to the bathroom and was concerned when i looked up information on cymbalta that said not to open capsules.

I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !

I was recently prescribed Cymbalta for severe Anxiety. I am taking it but I haven't been on it long enough for it to start working yet. Does anyone have any personal experience with this medication? Does anyone know how well this medication will work? I am worried it won't work at all. My Psychiatrist has tried me on so many different medications.

So pcp says don't take the Gabapentin here try cymbalta? They both seem to have bad side affects!? Anyone have experiences or advice on cymbalta? Oh, and now am having a horrible pulling sensations in my throat?
