Cymbalta neuropathy

Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta neuropathy

cymbalta

Avatar f tn I am 2 chemos away from finishing my round of six and have developed peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet. I am on 300mg Neurontin 3 x a day and it still seems to be getting worse. The pain keeps me from walking long distances and I cannot hang my hands down; I have to keep my elbows bent. I have also tried acupuncture. I use warmth to alleviate the pain but it is only a temporary relief. Any ideas or experiences?
Avatar f tn I have had neuropathy for quite some time. I've been a diabetic (type II) since '95 and my doctor has put me Cymbalta for neuropathy pain. It's a capsule and comes in 60 mg. It is also prescribed for people w/anxiety, but it seems to help me. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn One of the main ones is Duloxetine, which is a generic for Cymbalta. I take that for my neuropathy… It helps considerably, but doesn’t eliminate the pain. If you look it up, Cymbalta (Duloxetine) is listed as an anti-depressant, but it’s used “off label” quite often for pain. Check with your doctor and see if that might be possibility for you.
Avatar f tn I went to one doctor that was right on with regards to reducing but not eliminating the pain and neuropathy from the chemo. He gave me RX of both Lyrica and Cymbalta (which work better together) and this combination reduced the pain conciderably. I hope this helps others.
Avatar n tn She said I can use steroids and sometimes it goes away or if that doesnt work then cymbalta which is an anti depressant and it does the job but I dont want to take any heavy duty meds like that for a swollen foot! 596143 tn?1226648054 I've been off and on Cymbalta for about a year. It works great for the neuropathy in my feet, but that's about it. I can't go off it unless I want to give up sleeping and walking forever, but it hasn't really done anything for my other FMS issues. As for no referrals, you might just be lucky enough to have a knowledgeable doctor! I got one referral after another and test after test and medication after medication until I ended up in the emergency room. Hang in there!
Avatar n tn Is Cymbaltal the only prescription option for mild depression and neuropathy pain?
Avatar m tn i want to change an AD i'm on, cymbalta, to something else. i take it at nite, lo dose. i feel its run its course over the years and don't want to increase mg's as it always make me way to "dull-dead" if that makes any sense due to lack of better description. i have appt soon with doc that gives this to me so now is a good time to check on a few alternatives to cymbalta, if there are any and what opinions the folks here have of them.
Avatar n tn Dr (Neurologist) prescribed Amitriptilyne for painful Neuropathy in both feet, extreme sensitivity and a burning sensation. This is caused by disk problems in my back, as diagnosed after an MRI. It seems that this med is for severe depression(I am not), mental problems and the like.I am nervous about taking it, worried about side effects.Understand from others it sometimes is used for pain, but then why is it not approved for this by the FDA.
1490607 tn?1288379690 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
136956 tn?1688675680 Hi there! It would be very difficult to comment on the situation without a definitive diagnosis or even an examination. Other than restless leg syndrome other possibilities that may need to be considered are vascular issues, peripheral neuropathy, musculopathies, hormonal/ endocrine issues, micronutrient deficiencies, infections, stress/ depression etc. Without an evaluation it would be difficult to say what effect would a particular drug have on it.
Avatar n tn I have tried it all! Everybody is different. I am on 60mg of Cymbalta. I can't not take it though because it messes me up (if my insurance is messing around etc...) but if youre ready to be consistent, I'd try it.
1094370 tn?1317134825 My doctor had started me on 20mg of Cymbalta on January 18th and I started ABX treatment on January 27th. Within a few weeks, I felt way better. I know that Cymbalta is good for neuropathy stuff. Now, all the sudden, I'm worried that it's the Cymbalta that is actually doing the job and that the ABX aren't working like maybe I thought they were. Literally, I felt better within two weeks of starting the ABX.
Avatar f tn I had a stroke in January of '09 and have chronic neuropathy in my left arm. I have tried ammitryptilene, neurontin, lyrica and cymbalta but none of them has really helped. Does anyone have a suggestion about other treatments that have worked for them?
373683 tn?1218997212 I am 26 years old and I have had Fibromyaliga since I was 17.... I went to the dr yesterday and he gave me a new medication to be taking with my Cymbalta. He gave me Zaneflex. Went to bed....Has anyone taken or been taken this drug ? Does it help ? I am also taking 60MG of Cymbalta a day...... Any input would be nice.
Avatar m tn I just had a blood test and the Dr. said it might be from the cymbalta that it is showing hep in the blood. Is there any one out there that would know what kind I would get from that and then would it be contagious. Thanks.....
Avatar f tn I am currently on Cymbalta and the doctor increased my dosage but I am still having problems sometimes with depression. Does anyone have any suggestions on what medications would work with someone that is also diabetic with thyroid, neuropathy, asthma and allergies?
Avatar m tn Exercise 5 days week, golf three times week and care for home and lawn. Have had lumbar arthritis surgery in June 2015. Have confirmed neuropathy in both feet. Have moderate pain in lower back from lumbar/sciatic nerve. Self and doctors cannot diagnose pain all over body.. starts in the AM 15 minutes after rising.. terrible calf pain. Seems muscles are tight and when I start walking they explode. Must sit down unable to stand. That eases off by sitting..
Avatar f tn I've had increasingly bad dysautonomia for about a decade, and just found out about 6 months ago that it's because I have peripheral neuropathy from Sjogren's (also autoimmune). Personally, I couldn't take Cymbalta or any antidepressants because they drop my BP like a rock, but I know it helps some people.
Avatar n tn Right hip replacement. I'm on requip, lyrica, cymbalta, celebrex, just starting actonel plus vitamins & calcium. thank you. I'm 76, female. I have osteoporosis of the right hip and osteopenia of the left hip. I have peripheral neuropathy (familial), and two bad knees.
Avatar n tn I am finally being treated by a PNE specialist in Houston(Ken Renney), Texas. He believes it is Pudendal Neuropathy / Entrapment. Here is an image of the area, http://tipna.org/info/anatomical_images/MalePudendalNerve.jpg I believe that I have perineal neuropathy as well, where the pain coming from the tuberosities may be the perineal branch of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve. In the image, that is the nerve right over the tuberosity.
Avatar m tn Sounds like some neuropathy. Do you have diabetes? The treatment of neuropathy is medication one of which is neurontin. See your PCP if problem persist.
