1023657 tn?1251844941 Some options are - Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Savella. These are the only three drugs approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Lyrica is an antiseizure medication, while Cymbalta and Savella are antidepressants. All three have been known to reduce the pain of fibromyalgia significantly.
Avatar n tn hi. you might get more help if this wasnt posted in the dental forum. my mom just started taking cymbalta its an antidepressant but it seems to help her pain. i am not sure if its been approved for fibromyalgia but her dr had read a few articles about how it might help so he told the insurance company it was for depression caused by her pain so they would be sure to cover it. if your current dr isnt up to date with treatment options i would go to someone else. good luck!
1205402 tn?1268220272 I would do what you can to try to begin the Cymbalta as well. It is an approved treatment for FMS here in the states, so chances are that your doctor already has it in his/her mind that you may have FMS. If if you are unable to get relief from the Cymbalta after a month or two please have a discussion with your doctor about other options. Good luck to you.
735919 tn?1236444549 I am 30yrs old and i am taking Cymbalta for my Fibromyalgia pain but i have to stop it do to my insurance. It works REALLY well for my pain. I wanted to know if anyone is taking Lyrica for their pain and if it works.
Avatar f tn Also, you need to quit smoking if you want to have an effective treatment for your Fibromyalgia. Remember, Fibromyalgia is treatable without side effects but you need to find the right doctor and minimize all stresses.

Avatar f tn 6 months ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and put on Tramadol ER 200 and 50mg prn for breakthrough. I was also put on Lyrica, which I stopped taking, Concerta, which works very well at a low dose, and Cymbalta 60mg that I take everyday. I stopped taking the Tramadol 2 days ago and feel horrible. I have a script waiting at the pharmacy. Do I go pick it up and taper off or keep going since I'm already this far in? Help me please.
Avatar n tn meds that a lot of doctors tend to try - Cymbalta. How do you find the Cymbalta working for you? Have you noticed it has helped with your pain at all? Have you tried Savella? That also is a "newer" med that is used for fibro. Do you also take a muscle relaxer? If not, you may want to ask your doctor about adding one to your med regime. While I don't find that they help alone, I have found that they can be helpful when added to my other meds. How is your sleep?
Avatar f tn Personally, I am not a fan of EITHER of those meds for the treatment of anxiety. Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic and can be used as an adjunct treatment (along with an antidepressant) in treatment of depression and anxiety that hasn't responded well to just an antidepressant. Again, just in my humble opinion, I think there are better options out there, especially to START with. Have you tried any other medication? Therapy? How long have you had anxiety issues?
Avatar f tn ve seen more posts lately of those who have very similar symptoms after completion of treatment and most often the end diagnosis is fibromyalgia. It is a chronic disorder and there is really no cure.
4074293 tn?1351896693 Talking to the doctor next week to try something else. I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.
1577364 tn?1296689784 I have found some relief with the cymbalta for the FM. But, I also take other meds such as anti-inflam and muscle relaxants for arthitis and spinal problems, so I dont know if the cymbalta itself is helping with the FM, or if it is the combination of meds. I still have flare-ups of FM, but not as bad. From what I've seen, there isnt one thing that seems to be helpful for the FM. Everyone seems to have a med or combo of meds that helps for them. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Once your depression gets under control, the others will too. There are only 2 drugs FDA approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia and that is LYRICA, and CYMBALTA. When someone is suffer from depression, it not only affects you mentally but physically. That has been medically proven. Your immune system, cardiovascular, musculoskeltal to me seems the hardest hit. Aches and pains, stiffness, fatigue, panic attacks I too have suffered from.
177382 tn?1253041140 Cymbalta is currently being prescribed like crazy for fibromyalgia because it has been approved for the treatment of fibro. My doctor wrote me a prescription for it, but I have not tried it because I have panic-type symptoms on occasion. I have read that it may not be good if you experience panic attacks, but if your issues are pain and depression without panic, it may help. Cymbalta works differently than paxil, so you may not experience the same issues.
217229 tn?1192762404 Now - with that in mind - I need to tell you that I finished Treatment for Hepatitis C, with Sustained Virologic Response (what is considered a cure) - with Interferon and Ribavirin --- I finished it last year in March/February. But have had pain for the last 3 years, which I associated with Hepatitis C, etc. I ALSO HAVE ADVERSE REACTIONS TO MEDICATIONS and have ADHD.
Avatar n tn You need to see a rheumatologist, a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of fibromyalgia.
1290770 tn?1272075535 Cymbalta works for some and doesn't work for others. Personally, after a while of taking it I did start having thoughts of death. I thought it was because my pain was so horrible and nobody seemed to understand. But my husband pointed out to me that I hadn't been acting this bad before I started taking Cymbalta. I would ask someone to watch you or even keep a journal of your thoughts/feelings throughout the process so you can look back and monitor any changes yourself as well.
Panda I have been on Cymbalta (60 mg) for over two years for treatment of fibromyalgia/depression/anxiety. I recently went down to 40 mg, and after two days was a basket case. Constant brain zaps, a feeling like my entire brain was bruised, severe body aches, increased anxiety and agitation/aggression (which to me was the most frightening). I went back up to 60 mg. Four days later, I am still experiencing the bruised brain feeling and anxiety.
Avatar m tn Cymbalta is an SNRI which may make a difference for you. I took it for about 2 years and had no side effects.
324184 tn?1308076203 I'm on my second treatment of PPD and fibromyalgia with Cymbalta. The secret to using this medication effectively is sunlight exposure. The Cymbalta works better on the fibromyalgia pain and depression on sunny days and not so well on rainy overcast days. So, what I do, is got to a tanning salon on the rainy days, no more than 2x a week. I actually get almost 3 days of pain and depression relief from the tanning salon, where as one day of regular sunlight doesn't last thru the night.
Avatar f tn I have been on Cymbalta for several years and know that it does help. I was unable for a period of four or five months to obtain cymbalta so ran out. I noticed that my pain increased so for whatever it is worth; it does help in some way.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried or currently use Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. My primary care Dr. wants me to try it for my pain. I have glaucoma, it's under controlled but im still afraid to take it because of the side affects. Im in so much pain most of the time. I also have non hodgkns lymphoma and sarcoidosis and both are in remission , and I pray I can get some kind of relief. I really would like to hear some input on this.
