Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta for ms

cymbalta

233622 tn?1279334905 I have tried it, did not do anything for me, my godmother has back pain unrelated to ms and it did not help, my friend has fibro and it did not work for her, but none of which have ms, as for a me, I'm just looking at ms as a possibility, so it had relatively little side effects, and worth a try if your doc thinks so, but nobody I know had had success with it, but nobody I know has ms that uses it.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Candy, I was on cymbalta for pain a while back. It worked great for me but I got headaches on a daily basis so my neuro took me off of it. I loved it for the pain though. The meds wont interfere with your injections. Your neuro has a list of all your meds and I am sure he/she is making sure that the combinations are safe. It is crazy all the meds we end up taking.
233622 tn?1279334905 Hello LA, Thanks so much for the response to my rant yesterday. I feel better today. Still have the double vision but like always my friends here cheer me up. To answer your question. I was on Cymbalta for about 6 weeks. I asked to be taken off of it. It was making me feel strange. Very "short Fused", irritated, grouchy. I started taking Effexor when this started and I went back to it just a higher dose now. I have seen where people here have got on it and it has helped very well.
611606 tn?1315517767 I am so disappointed. I have been on Cymbalta for three weeks for the awful internal nerve pain I have been living with for almost four years now. On a daily bases. The first two weeks I was on 30mg once a day, this made me feel very drugged for about three doses and it also messed up my vision where my eyes could not focus and vision was very blurry the from the end of the second week I noticed a bit less pain, not a lot but some.
1094370 tn?1317134825 I took Cymbalta last year for nerve pain. Cymbalta is in clinical trials now to help such pain, maybe you already know that. Anyway, my symptoms did not disappear but improved so much that i got excited about being able to do stuff I hadn't been able to do for months like going to the mall with my daughter and actually being able to go in the stores and look around with her rather than sit on a bench outside.
Avatar n tn thanks for the cymbalta suggestion. i am going to look into that as well as a bite plate.
Avatar n tn Tthe people at my dispensary are able to provide me with varieties specifically suited to my MS needs; and I have some for sleep, for relaxation and some that just makes me philosophical about and amused by this crazy little thing called Life. I also laugh more, and that is *always* a good thing! Thanks for being here people.
1627868 tn?1333886342 did you also post this on the MS board? folks with diabetes also take it for neuropathy, so perhaps you could poll some folks in that discussion group.
Avatar f tn For over a year now, I have been taking Cymbalta for depression. I didn't find out until last December that I indeed have MS. I have noticed that the Cymbalta does help the MS pain along with relieving my depression. Due to insurance changes, it will be less expensive for me to take a generic antidepressant in the same category as Cymbalta. I believe it is a Seratonin Uptake. I could be wrong. Does anyone else take Paroxetine (Generic for Paxil) and does it help you with the MS pains?
Avatar f tn Could anyone tell me if they have gotten Duvanta-30 as a generic for cymbalta? Due to the money crunch we have had to look to the canadian drug companys for my husbands meds that he takes, and when I ordered the cymbalta that is what they sent, and when I questioned it they said it was the same... So a little feed back would be great. thanks.
Avatar f tn For 2 months, I have the "MS itch" on one part of my lower back. It is unbearable. Creams don't help. Ice pack provides relief for a few minutes. Sleep is fine. After up & moving for several minutes, the itching starts. Simply, my neurologist doesn't know what he's doing. He recommended Cymbalta & Lyrica!! Instead, I showed him a prominent MS website regarding itching, so he prescribed their suggestion, Neurontin.
Avatar f tn Sounds somewhat similar to that (which I have) and there are all kinds of reasons for that diagnosis. I would be curious to see if you have. I also had a brain MRI for MS and had several lesions but was told that I don't have it. Very common to be told no and later find out you do have it, so I try to stay on top of any new symptoms. Please stay on top of what is going on and get a different opinion, like you have been advised.
Avatar m tn Now, I have another question. My Rheumatologist asked me to stop taking my daily cymbalta for a week before my Brain MRI appointment. So, its been 7 days and since then my vision has changed and I feel disoriented..spacey like. When I stare at something and then turn to look away I get dizzy and feel like I am NEO in the Matrix movies..everything moves slowly. Even there are times while walking I get that wierd matrix like feeling. I guess I really cannot explain the feeling correctly..
Avatar f tn Hi,i habe been on the cymbalta since thurs.Im done with the antibotic it was Bactrim for a UTI. My anxiety is so out of control and the cymbalta seems to be making it worse,It consumes me i can think of hardly anything except how i feel, And i am scared its a mild reaction to the cymbalta and if i keep taking it i will get worse and all tday i have had a pain behind my left be]reast into my shoulder and arm.I havve had this before i know and its never been my heart but im scared.
Avatar f tn I did well with all but lyrica, cymbalta and MS Contin . So I managed to get to 15 mg of MS Contin with 4 norco per day and the pain was tolerable. I also use ice at least eight hours per day on my spine. My prescription was for 120 of the norco which I filled every few months. As I went down on the opana and transitioned to the MS Contin I felt my pain was better. Unfortunately this was short lived so I begain taking the MS Contin at 8:00 am and 8:00 pm with 4 norco spread out evenly.
Avatar f tn I have been told by a neurologist that i may have a very mild case o ms and maybe fybromyalgia.I have been taking cymbalta and gabapentin for about 18 months. it does not seem to help me that much,Iwas taking 60 mg for a while and stated having a lot of body movement on its own.The doctor took me down to 30 mg.it has been a while now and I am still having body movement.I have very bad muscle cramps to.
Avatar m tn Brain MRI showed lesions but my doc did not think this indicative of MS. She sent me for lumbar MRI. Nothing significant showed on that to explain foot problems. By now pain had been so bad I could hardly walk at times. Then it would ease up a bit. Numbness, paresthesias and fasciculations driving me mad. My podiatrist reluctantly prescribed hydrocodone which hardly touched the pain. I had been prescribed gabapentin which did little for the neuropathy.
237053 tn?1258828426 I am luking here, awaiting MS diagnosis after brain MRI. I am on Amitryptyline, which is the generic name for Elavil by the way). I was prescribed it by my pain management doctor as a sleep aid. I have been on it for 2 years, with a few breaks where I had narcotics due to multiple surgeries. I have not heard of it being for pain, but I am getting as a sleep aid because my pain keeps me awake. So, in a way I guess it could help, but depending on dosage, will make you VERY sleepy.
739070 tn?1338603402 ren- i've been taking only cymbalta for the nerve pain and so far have been alright. not perfect, but i'll take feeling a dulled "just hit my funny bone" sensation over sharp pain radiating through my arm any day. i'm hesitant to take anything else and am lucky so far that the pain hasn't been at an unbearable level since i got out of the hospital. in the hospital i was put on trileptal and while i didn't hurt anymore, it made me crazy. like, ca-RAZY crazy.
Avatar n tn Sorry- typo in my original post. - I don't have any experience with Cymbalta. But a friend of mine takes it for depression and fibromyalgia. And recently the commercials for it say it helps with pain management. She said (my friend) it takes some time to help- but all the other nerve pain meds do too.
Avatar f tn I have had some brain zaps during the day associated with cymbalta which i was taking for neuropathy. I also had a neck fusion about 8 wks ago and 2 weeks ago was involved in another car accident where i was rear-ended. Can you give me any advice?
1490607 tn?1288379690 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
