11852 tn?1216841443 Just got from the endo. Good news is all my scans came back clean, so it looks like I'm cancer-free. I would be doing the happy dance, but I'm too dam tired to really care. Sad isn't it! Doc ask me how I was feeling and I told her about the extreme fatigue I've felt for a long time. I asked if there could be other causes besides thyroid history and the menopause. Her theory is I'm depressed and Effexor (taking for hot flashes) isn't working.
746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
Avatar f tn I am the same way. I cant take any medicine for anxiety i tryed lexepro, cymbalta, koplin, etc..but i would always get racing heart beat hot flashes headaches and so on. So what i did i gave up on meds and just let it be. I was fighting it for about 5 month, i would go and exercice, be with friends, go shopping, go to work. None of it i enjoyed it but i said to myself i have no other choice its not stronger than me.
400867 tn?1371753094 Im afraid I cant be of much help with this one either,,, Iv been told by my doctor that its good at reducing anxiety, lifting depression, aids in sleep when its fleeting, and supposedly helps with the physical pain/discomfort of depression...... but you probalby read that on the box already.
1922027 tn?1342460110 When I go to the Rheumatologist tomorrow I will be asking about the hot flashes and the sweats. I will let you know what she says.
Avatar n tn I can completely understand your problems. I had a total hysterectomy July 2007. Started having SEVERE hot flashes and night sweats the same night in the hospital. I've tried 3 NON-HRT prescriptions (clonidin, effexor, cymbalta). They all worked somewhat for about 2 months but then the side-effects took over and were worse than how much relief I got. From everything I've read (WebMD, Mayoclinic website etc.) the "natural" cures are not worth the expense.
Avatar f tn when I am experiencing these hot flashes, then within 3-4 mins, I am so cold that I jump in bed, with heating blanket cranked on high, and I shiver and shake for mins. after. Someone help me, please. I am 51 and have been experiencing this for over a year. I become so red, that I look like a beet from my waist on up. My face is ruined by broken capilaries, and now my face is constantly red. In the mornings when I wake, it looks like a monster was in bed with me.
Avatar f tn There are many others with fewer side effects. I am on Vimpat which has almost none. Who needs hot flashes on top of all of that!!
Avatar f tn i wont be getting this shot again... i have nausea, hot flashes, night sweats, not able to sleep good, sensitive to smells... it tricks us into thinkin we are pregnant...
Avatar n tn I am a breast cancer survivor for 8 years now; I have severe hot flashes; every 45 minutes day and night; it has totally affected my quality of life...and ability to sleep; I recently found out I could take this drug. I am on 200 mg nightly; so far I have been waking up and had insomnia; will this get better and go away; I have only taken it for two nights; also how long does it take before one might notice their hot flashes have decrease? My dr. said I might have to go up to 400 mg.
Avatar f tn you need to go to your dr and tell him all your symptoms and tell him what u want to be tested for. as far as the hot and cold flashes goes if you were on medications and now your not on them you could be having withdrawls from them and that can cause hot and cold flashes. if you take a luke warm bath and sit in it for 30 minutes it will take the hot and cold flashes away.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.

Avatar n tn no good for me, i ended up using the patch which has worked for the past 9 months, but now it seems to have stopped working, and i get hot days not flashes they last for days on end. I would try the patch first. good luck......
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar n tn 1. Accupuncture 2. Relaxation therapy 3. Regular exercise 4. Reduction in weight/body mass index (If overweight, try to lose 10% of weight. This may also lower risk for BC recurrence in hormone receptor positive BC.) 5, Clonodine (also used for hypertension) 6. Gabapentin ( also used for seizure disorders) 7.
973741 tn?1342342773 Getting older is a pain! LOL I just am not a fa of the flavor of chamomile tea but maybe will look at some of the sleepy time tea. I didn't know if you already get hot if having a hot beverage before bed would affect that. I plant a fan directly on me even with the overhead ceiling fan blowing. It's rough to get hot flashes at night, disturbs the sleep!
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi Marshmellow, I started having hot flashes that would come before a panic attack. For the panic I started taking lexapro. Since I have been on lexapro I haven't had a panic attack. I told my O.B. about it and she said that they actually had looked at lexapro to help hot flashes. When I decided to go off lexapro I started having hot flashes. So for me, somehow they are connected. Good luck! You are definitely not alone.

1026267 tn?1257591273 I had my thyroid removed 2 yrs ago and am taking 137 mcg Synthroid Mon-Thur and half dose Fri-Sun. In the last month I have been dealing with almost constant hot flashes. Could there be a connection to the non thyroid condition or might something else be happening? I am 68 and way past the hot flash stage.
