cymbalta

Avatar f tn I am currently looking for a new depression medication. I need some info on something that is NOT a SSRI, a hormone, and is not zoloft, celexa, or prozac......also something that does not contain salicylic acid aka aspirin. If anyone can help I would appreciate the help.
Avatar f tn I am on day 6 cold turkey off percocets. I realize the underlying issue is depression/coping. Today I saw a NP and was prescribed Saphris 5mg SL every night and started on Lamictal with a tapering increase in dose over the next month. Im not comfortable with the Saphris though,,,its an "atypical antipsychotic" and used for people with Bipolar I disorder and schizophrenia?????

Avatar f tn t say what pain pills you have been using or for how long, but the one thing I know for absolutely sure is that they interfere with the optimal functioning of the other meds you are taking. So if your depression did not seem reponsive to the Cymbalta that would be the first thing I would think about. Does your doctor know that you are also taking pain pills along with the psychoactive meds she is prescribing. She really should.
607502 tn?1288247540 However, it did not do all that much for the depression and I struggled with side effects for 7 months I feel I have given it a good shot. I am pretty much in the same boat as you in facing a change. I see my pdoc in a fortnight. It will be interesting to know how you get on so please keep me posted!
Avatar f tn Well, I have been on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds for over 10 years. I recently tried to go off the meds (Cymbalta). I slowly weaned myself off over a period of a month and a half and I was med free for about 1 month. At the time, I was struggling a bit but also hopeful that I might actually be able to function without meds. Well, I had a major breakdown. It seemed to come out of nowhere. I went from slightly struggling to having severe depression and major anxiety.
603543 tn?1255294450 http://health.yahoo.com/depression-medications/atypical-antidepressants-for-depression/healthwise--hw29806.html I just started Remeron, and it seems like I feel a whole lot better than I did when I tried the Effexor and Cymbalta.
Avatar m tn I have kept a journal, and for some reason all ssnri class drugs make my depression horrifically worse;that is, a sense of dread and panic set in that is dark and horribly foreboding. I respond well to lexapro or celxa, but those cause my sexual drive to drop to a level that drives my wife nuts. I wish I understood what and how these drugs worked and what is on the horizon for meds with less side effects.
1348086 tn?1370783185 A lady that I work with has been taking Cymbalta for a few years and she says it still works for her. Could it just be me? Has the Cymbalta quit working in less than 2 years for me?
Avatar f tn I've been on Cymbalta now for about a year. It has helped my depression and my energy levels. I'm bipolar also, so I'm on lithium. Without the lithium I felt anxious also. I'm on 60mg. of Cymbalta. At one time my doc didn't think the Cymbalta was working and I went down to 30mg. My depression got worse so I went back upto 60. I am feeling much better with the added lithium, my mood is much more even.
Avatar f tn Hi, its me again sorry to bother everyone, but, I have been very very depressed over the past few months, as you all know I have the missed heart beats and so on, I have been seeing a pshychiatrist for the depression, doc has just changed my medication from Avanza to 'Cymbalta' has anyone heard of this drug, he said it would be very safe, but I dont know how it will effect my ever ectopic heart.
Avatar f tn If you have GAD, it IS not a good idea to go onto Cymbalta, it may trigger even worse anxiety. There are alot of other drugs with minimal side effects. Lamactil being one(it's actually an anti seizure med) , it's an atypical mood stabilizer which has also helped some like myself with anixety at higher doses. Don't be freaked out my the scary side effect of the rash, it only happens 8/100 000, as well if you slowly increase the dose, that pretty much elimenates that chances.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta can work wonders for some people that have depression. It's one of the more stimulating meds though. Seroquel used to be used more for bi-polar but is being used more often now for depression. Did your Dr explain why they wanted you to take this med combo? I do agree with SassyLassie. Call the pharmacy because they'll know if you can takes these meds together safely.
Avatar n tn What tablets are you taking?
Avatar n tn mri showed nothing and after carbomazapine for 8 months had no symptoms apart from the odd twinge for years. for the last 2 months it has got really bad but would rather not go back on carbomazapine. Is this the best treatment? At the moment just using co dydramol though it just takes edge off rather than really helping. what should i do?
Avatar f tn t have stomach and it is hard to treat meet,Was on lithium 15yr could hold gun right, they have tried me on Cymbalta, 2 or 3 more I have had 3 hours sleep last 8 days
Avatar m tn I was on Cymbalta for about 6 years. Last year my Pdoc doubled the dose for awhile. Then for 8 months we tried med changes. 10 different medicines. At the end he kept me on the 4 pill drug cocktail I had originally had before the episode. I am helped greatly by talk therapy. So I'm concentrating on that for now. What about you?
7684852 tn?1437171892 It certainly seems like the Cymbalta isn't working well for you. I also became really depressed after quitting. I had to try a couple of different ADs before finding one that really helps. I feel good now. Tell your Dr that you want to try something different. Best wishes. Hope you are better soon!
1226682 tn?1399937724 it worked, very well in fact, was the first medicine to work for me for depression and anxiety. however it became extremely addicting for me. if i just miss a couple days my depression and anxiety attacks come back full throttle along with other withdrawl symptoms such as intense migraine, nausea, hot flashes/chills, etc. worst feeling ever. i have decided to start weening off this medication, but i can only go down small steps. i am a small girl tho. i was on 60-90mg.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta made my depression worse and made me pretty nauseated. But then, I never do respond to psychotropic drugs or antidepressants very well.
Avatar m tn I would personally urge caution. Do your homework. Cymbalta, as with all snris, isn't usually used if anxiety is the main problem, as it's a stimulating anti-depressant. It also is associated with liver problems, which came out when it recently applied for approval for chronic pain, which it is not currently approved for. It might just be the thing for you, but make sure whoever's prescribing it knows what he or she is doing.
