cymbalta dosage depression

I was on a low dose of Abilify for about three months and while it did help a little with depression (was also taking Cymbalta) I had a lot of weight gain. I was constantly hungry and the medication didn't help matters by slowing my metabolism.

I don't know what you will experience exactly but just from my experience on Cymbalta which I am currently on 30 mg didn't do crap for me and I didn't feel that i was that depressed but more anxious than anything. THen I did figure out I was more depressed than I thought but still depressed so they upped the dosage to 60 mg. 60mg is the standard dosage for Cymbalta. I had asked to be put on 30mg onlyh because I didn't want any side effects (especially sexual side effects)...

My Dr. just switched me from Effexor XR to Cymbalta. I took my first dose of Cymbalta in the evening, because the script said it caused drowsiness. I was wide awake all night and went to work the following day. Has anyone had a problem with this med at night? Now I'm not taking anything. I'm a mess. Probably going through withdrawals. Please help. I can't reach my doctor.

So I slowly weaned off the lexapro and switched to cymbalta. For a week i took 5 mg of lexapro and a 30mg cymbalta. Now I am at a therapeutic dosage of 60mg cymbalta. And I also take clonozapem up to 3 times a day if I have panic attacks. Lexapro gave me gastroinstestinal side effects. While as Cymbalta now seems to give me sleep troubles/insomnia. However, sometimes the medication outweighs the side effects.

I had to go off Cymbalta 60 mg due to the increase in copay. I was doing well on it. I now am on Celexa HBR 20 mg. I have been on it almost a month. I am taking it for Depression. It seems to be helping. The thing is I am not sure if I should increase it. Does anyone know if the dose of the Celexa is equivalent to the Cymbalta? I do still have moment where I begin to cry out of the blue, even when things become overwhelming. Any sugestions would be a great help.

Hi You may have read some of my posts i was recently taking off depakote as i felt it put me in this pit of depression my counsler startd me on cymbalta this afternoon about 1 1/2 hours ago and im feeling so drowsy is this normal i was on it last year so i shouldnt be allgerci to it Right

I am currently on Cymbalta and the doctor increased my dosage but I am still having problems sometimes with depression. Does anyone have any suggestions on what medications would work with someone that is also diabetic with thyroid, neuropathy, asthma and allergies?

For anyone that Cymbalta has worked well for... what dosage worked for you? Dr. wants daughter to start with 30 and go to 60 after 4 days but my thinking is to see if 30 will work and give it a few weeks... why go to 60 if not necessary.

I took Cymbalta for depression, however, I noticed a relief in pain of FMS with my first dosage. I discontinued it when I began taking Ultram (as they sometimes do not mix well). Anything that requires a prescription will come with certain side-effects...one needs to try the medication to see how it works and weigh if the difference in pain is significant enough for them to continue taking, as compared with the side-effects. What helps one, may not help the other.

Has anyone taken Cymbalta for depression? If so, how long...what were the side effects if any? How long have you been taking it....are you happy with it?

The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! Hello SamsGram, I took Effexor XR 300mgs a day for close to 5 years. After about the fourth year I also noticed it not being as effective as it had previously been for me. AS more time went by I felt worse and worse as the theriputic effect of the Effexor XR was losing it's ability to control my depression and anxiety. I started feeling very nausious, almost like I hadn't taken my dosage, but yet I did take it. In short it just "Pooped out on me.

I wanted to know if anyone has been taking effexor for nearly a year my dosage is 150mg twice a day. Now my psychiatrist wants to put me on Cymbalta. He told me that it takes time for my body to accept the change and for a couple of weeks I won't have much of either in my system. I don't know what dosage is yet. I am wondering if I am doing the right thing. I have been battling severe depression and chronic pain for years. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Jan 7, 2014 my psychiatrist switched me from 60mg Cymbalta to 100mg Zoloft. The switch was made bc I felt after 5 yrs, the Cymbalta might be pooping out. The first week I took 30mg Cymbalta with 50mg Zoloft. After that week, I stopped Cymbalta and went to 100mg Zoloft. It's now a little over 4 weeks since the switch and I'm having panic attacks like I haven't had in years & also that disassociation feeling that goes along w/anxiety & depression.

I am currently taking Wellbutrin (now for about 3 months)...it is not relieving my depression symptoms in the least. Talked to my doctor (psychiatrist) this afternoon and explained the situation to him. My symptoms read from the pages of a textbook....feeling depressed, feeling restless, difficulty concentrating, crying jags, unfounded feelings of worthlessness, feelings of sadness, loss of interest in normal daily things and things I used to enjoy, forgetfullness, easy mood changes etc.

i need help. my meds on zoloft at the highest dosage has stopped working. i need to find something else to help alleviate my depression soon. I also have issues with weight gain and an eating disorder. the eating disorder is under control but i have a huge fear of any medication that will cause weight gain and an increased appetite. any suggestions?? i heard cymbalta is good! help!

I have been experiencing major depression for the last four months. Before that the depression would come and go. I am at the point where I cry and cry and cry. On an average day I may sleep 12 -- 16 hours, and when I wake up it feels like I have been up for days at a time. I have really isolated myself from family and friends in the last month, why dampen their spirits right? During the time before you got diagnosed were you all experiencing bouts of depression?

Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!

Thanks, Hensley. I think today I just had a bad day in general, I'm actually 'starting' on 50mg, for anxiety, OCD, probable panic disorder, and slight depression. I think I'll ride the wave out, and just continue on with my prescribed dosage, I'm also about to start CBT shortly, so hopefully, I might be able to hop off Zoloft sooner rather then later, as some of the stories regarding withdrawal and other symptoms have caught my attention.

That being said, her doctor was wise to switch her over to another medication like Cymbalta. 30Mgs of Cymbalta is a good starting point and this gives him option to ramp the dosage up as needed. Regardless of this fact, Cymbalta, May or may not be an effective medication for her. I tried Cymbalta for 7 weeks at 60Mgs per day (after 4 years on Effexor) and in my case it did NOTHING to help with my condition.

For over a year now, I have been taking Cymbalta for depression. I didn't find out until last December that I indeed have MS. I have noticed that the Cymbalta does help the MS pain along with relieving my depression. Due to insurance changes, it will be less expensive for me to take a generic antidepressant in the same category as Cymbalta. I believe it is a Seratonin Uptake. I could be wrong. Does anyone else take Paroxetine (Generic for Paxil) and does it help you with the MS pains?

I was on Zoloft and was in need of an increase in dosage (was on for over a year at same dosage) and my PCP switched me to Cymbalta, after I pleaded with her to just increase my Zoloft (as it has been working fine with me). She ignored me and thus the Cymbalta was started...with hestitation from myself. Because my body reacts so differently than most to meds...I was afraid...and was discovered why. After 2 weeks on Cymbalta...

He then put me on clorazepate and that makes me get headaches and gets my depression level up and I took it also as needed. I am on Cymbalta for anxiety/depression and have been on it for 2 years. It had been working but these past 2 weeks I have been both depressed and anxious.

But first I want to see if there is any adverse effect with Cymbalta. The literature on Cymbalta as well as B12 does not indicate any adversity between the two. Regards.

I had some depression right before I started Cymbalta. Does this look like I need to up to 90 mg. I was on the max dose of celexa. That is why I had to switch and we went with snri. Still have jitters every now and then.

I also take cymbalta, same dosage. Can I ask why you want to be off? What were you prescribed it for?
