My pain mgt doc is taking me off Zoloft 200 mg and switching me to Cymbalta, ive cut the Zoloft in half for 9 days and he said after14 days go to 50 then start Cymbalta, I feel really bad I also take roxycodone my internal med doc has not been informed, should I talk with the IM doc cause I would really like to start Cymbalta, thank u
I would switch gradually to Cymbalta and see what happens rather than being on both. As for the Wellbutrin added to the mix it could help with libido since dopamine is in play. Both Zoloft and Wellbutrin sounds like something you could try before getting on Cymblata. I don't think you shoud mix Cymbalta with Wellbutrin personally.
The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! Cymbalta and Zoloft are two different types of AD's. Cymbalta is a SNRi and Zoloft is a SSRi. I had very bad withdraw when I stopped Zoloft. So my Dr. had me wean off it. From experience ( 2 x's I had to stop taking Zoloft ) I would HIGHLY recommend slowly getting off the Zoloft. I don't think that it can be 'switched'.
Low dose of Zoloft for a week(50mg) while taking low dose Cymbalta for a week(30mg). Week 2- stop Cymbalta and start 100mg Zoloft. Appx Feb 8, I had a horrible panic attack (hadn't had one in YEARS). Then everything snowballed- anxiety, agitation, feeling crazy, disconnected, frightened.
Called Psych & got in. Apparently Zoloft not a good med for me. I said I wanted the Cymbalta back (she suggested Cymbalta, Pristiq, Effexor- all SNRI's which maybe my body likes?
I have a new doctor now (other one retired) and because I have some aches and arthritis, he took me off Zoloft and put me on Cymbalta which helped with pains. I have never been the same as when on Zoloft. The depression freeze of not wanting to get up, go out and do a thing has not left me. I went up in dose of Cymbalta to 120 mg/day from 60 and still it didn't help. I went back to Zoloft and started hurting like the flu. All aches and pains came back bigger than ever.

My psych just switched me to Cymbalta, on for 5 days I was instructed to decrease to 50 mg Zoloft, then the 6th day do 25 mg Zoloft and take 20 mg cymbalta. Then just continue with only 20 mg cymbalta. I feel like it’s a really low dose and since just being on the cymbalta already I feel sick and massive headache and dizziness . My psych is out of town until 3 weeks so not sure if anyone else has insight on this?
Jan 7, 2014 my psychiatrist switched me from 60mg Cymbalta to 100mg Zoloft. The switch was made bc I felt after 5 yrs, the Cymbalta might be pooping out. The first week I took 30mg Cymbalta with 50mg Zoloft. After that week, I stopped Cymbalta and went to 100mg Zoloft. It's now a little over 4 weeks since the switch and I'm having panic attacks like I haven't had in years & also that disassociation feeling that goes along w/anxiety & depression.
Then around 7 years ago I started getting panic attacks, so they put me on some benzos along with cymbalta and abilify. Cymbalta was the worst drug I'd ever been on; I felt like a walking zombie... not depressed, just not anything at all. I've been through three or four different talk therapists and a handful of psychiatrists. I've given up on both due to their lack of ability to listen (anyone else notice that?). I now just receive my rxs from my GP, which is fine...
they feel that cymbalta is more for anxiety issues then zoloft. i am on day 3 and feel good. my doc had me not take my zoloft for one night and start the cymbalta the next night. my thing is that i can't get out of my head that antidepressants cause suicidal thoughts. i am always asking myself am i ok am i going to kill myself. i did this soooo bad on zoloft but read some horrible stuff on zoloft. i have severe anxiety as well as mild ocd.
How long were you taking the Cymbalta? The doctor should have probably weened you off of the Cymbalta before switching to the Zoloft, or lowered one does while increasing the other at the same time. 200mg seems to be a big jump.
Chances are, though, that quitting the Zoloft/Cymbalta suddenly is causing most of your symptoms. You should always ween yourself of of any AD/Anxiety medication and never stop them cold-turkey.
The only medication I was taking was Zoloft (which I loved). I was switched to Cymbalta (which I loved too) but developed the same rash. My doctor put me on Wellbutrin which just isn't enough for me. It does not give me the rash. She added Effexor recently and my rash returned. She wants me to see a psychiatrist for medication help but so far none I have contacted have any appointments available.
just switched to cymbalta 30mg 5 days ago and feel great so far still have a little of the issues i had on zoloft but i guess the zoloft is still in my system. my question is when you switch from one to another how long does it take for the first one in my case zoloft to be out of my system???? i was on zoloft for severe anxiety but it never really made me feel at ease i still worried i was going to lose control and freak out and go crazy.
I 'cold-turkeyed' cymbalta several years ago, and I suffered fatigue, severe mood swings, crying jags and rebound depression. Once I started an SSRI antidepressant these largely went away. Someone else I know had a terrible time with the brain-zaps and other weird sensations even when tapering so it varies widely. I think doctors can use another antidepressant like prozac to replace the cymbalta and then taper that one down to help with the side effects of withdrawal.
In July 2008 I switched over from Zoloft and Invega to Wellbutrin and Cymbalta. At that time, these were my only medications. In August 08, when I stood up from my chair, my legs had terrible tremors. They were so bad that I had to hold onto the desk. This still happens today. I also experience leg tremors when descending stairs - but not going up. I get minor tremors while going from a standing to a sitting position. My right hand has started to tremor - kind of fast but mild.
I had insomnia and fibromyalgia. My doctor put me on Cymbalta. He said it would help me with sleep and pain. It was 2 weeks of hell, no sleep and constant pain and I wanted to kill myself!!! I was not depressed and have no history of depression. my doctor switched me to amitriptyline. It helps with sleep but not pain, I would never recommend Cymbalta to anyone !
