She doesn't have to tell her diagnosis,no, but she would, we're very close and talk often, esp about this. The doctor didn't tell her a diagnosis, except PMDD. She was on Prozac before for the PMDD and the doctor thinks that caused the suicidal thoughts, as she's young and it sometimes has the reverse effect in teens.

Are the symptoms I am experiencing a side effect of sertraline? I am on day 16 of taking 50mg sertraline after switching from cymbalta to try and find a saferdrug to try for pregnancy. Week one I was emotional but that settled down and week two was manageable and i felt generally calmer. However by day 14 anxiety smptoms worsened and i am feeling flushed in the face and tingly in arms and waking early feeling unable to cope with nerves and sweating. Should I stick it out?

For the past year, I've been having between 1 to 2 weeks of pure rage before my period. I've been looking into this and it may be PMDD, which is a much more severe version of PMS. People normally get more depressing thoughts, but I just get rage and to an alarming point. Did anyone have any suggestions for treatment? I've read that only 10% of women have this.

I also suffer with pmdd and yes a lot of the symptoms mimic early pregnancy I have one child so I know what early pregnancy feels like I notice breasts tenderness nausea sometimes vomiting a lot of strange cravings before my diagnoses I thought I was crazy especially when I hadn't been having sex with anyone during the time with this disorder you really have to listen to your body

Hello, welcome to medhelp! I am sorry you suffer PMDD, that's hard. I know that in my area, there is a subspecialty of psychiatrist that specializes in woman's issues specifically. Identifying and treating PMDD is becoming more common but has a long way to go. People joke about having PMS but the implications of PMDD are far greater as you know. I've never suffered it but have a friend who has.

Drink plenty of fluids, eat frequent small meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, cut down on caffeine and eat Calcium rich foods include dairy products, dark green vegetables, nuts, grains, beans and canned salmon and sardines (with bones). Calcium supplements may also be used. You can take OTC pain killers for the muscle cramps.

I was just curious to see if anyone else has had problems with severe PMS (or PMDD), along with their diagnosis of complex ovarian cysts? My cycle has been irregular for the past 6 mths. (been 3 mths. since my last period) I am 48 yrs. old, so I know this can be expected at this age. I do naturally suffer from anxiety and depression, but it was well treated with medication. On Thursday, I had a large cyst removed, along with my right ovary, and surgery to "scrape out" the endometriosis. I actually thought this would be a relief because most of my depressive symptoms came prior and during my period. I've been anti-depressants for years, but this is so different. I just feel hopeless and empty.

I have been diagnosed with PMDD in my mid forties and have recently discovered a history of bipolar disorder on both mine and my husband's side of the family. In doing some research and reading books on this disorder, it seems like most of the symptoms are the same in both disorders. The only real difference I can see if the frequency of the cycles as women with PMDD cycle pretty much every month where those with bipolar disorder cycle much less frequently.

m not past menpause yet. How do I know if I still need this drug for pmdd or if thew pmdd was just a transitional problem?

For the last few years I have been in hell,1- 2.5 weeks out of the month my entire body chemistry changes including but not limited to temp, anxiety, mood changes, night sweats, dizziness, weight gain and loss, appetite changes, vaginal dryness, wetness, cramping, flutters in my abdomen, etc. I have been in cymbalta for a few months with Xanax. But it's not working and these medicines are horrible. Currently I have to smoke mm to function without going insane during these periods.

No MMahon I am not on birth control but I do know this girl who has severe PMDD and her doctor put her on birth control and it is helping with the PMDD

s lasted 3 months, it is probably PMDD...and maybe the Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo was helping the symptoms of PMDD, but now that she has switched, the symptoms are becoming visible. Tell her to go to her doctor, to see if it is PMDD.

I had terrible back pain, tingling in my toes that drove me crazy all night long, and pins and needles feelings in my lower legs and feet. Cymbalta saved my life, I tried paxil it made me feel like I was in a daze i was not myself i could hear myself talking very slowly but it didn't seem like it was me talking. It was weird. As for the depression aspect it also helped tremendously. I could finally sleep, my pain was gone, and I felt great.

Look up PMDD and read the symptoms and I bet you will see yourself there. If you do then make an appointment with a gyno as soon as possible and they have I think low dose birth control pills to control this, I mean I am not positive. But I do know that I have heard of this before and it it not you but this PMDD and it is totally fixable.

I have Bipolar 2 and PMDD. I switched from Geodon to Lamictal in December 2010. Since that point, my depression has greatly improved and I feel like my old self. But, ever since I began Lamictal, the Lexapro that controlled the PMDD issue for years, stopped working. I'm now having severe PMDD issues every month. My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Viibryd a week ago. I am experiencing increased appetite, gastrointestinal distress, and can't sleep.

When I was diagnosed wtih Bipolar they took me off my SSRI and put me on a mood stabilizer, my PMDD was so horrid I was suicidal. There is a discussion about only taking a SSRI for 10 days a month, but the withrdrawal symptoms are so bad that it's better to stay on it, even at a low dose. Long term these drugs are good if you don't have Bipolar or borderline disorder, I would really chat with your doctor before doing anything.

I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.

Background: Diagnosed w/ OCD (health obsessions, not compulsions), PTSD, PMDD, panic attacks So after 5 very unsuccessful attempts at managing my extreme anxiety w/ medication (psychiatrist & PCP), my [new] PCP & I may have had a breakthrough w/ Zoloft. I'm currently taking 25 mg (we started low due to my intolerance of other SSRI's), but this time we combined it w/ .5mg of Xanax (.25mg 2x/day).

Now, within the same day, I go from ravenous hunger and wanting to eat everything in sight to dry heaves and back to starving. It feels very much lille pregnancy. I had a hysterectomy last year for PMDD. They left one ovary. I'm trying to determine if I could still be having reactions to ovulation but symptoms seem to frequent. I'm also diagnosed with Panic DO and Major Depression. It's it all psychological?

I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...

t know if it is already classified as PMDD (Premenstrual dysphoric disorder), but one thing is that she had bipolar disorder and has low serotonin with (thus possibly related to the bruising). I know the calendar method is not as good for women with longer/irregular cycles, but there should still be a benefit to using it. So I took note of my girlfriend's cycles and monitored it.

Keep an eye on yourself, if it continues for a month or more see your doctor, many women have a difficult time during menopause and don't realize it. I worked with 3 meno women and it was pure hell.

You may want to see a doctor and discuss your symptoms. My daughter has similar symptoms and was diagnosed with PMDD. It got worse every year after her period started, so we finally put her on a oral contraceptive to help with her hormones. I also have her taking a natural remedy pill call primerose and some other vitamins we got from a natural medicine doctor. With PMDD it's important to make sure you get the right vitamins and take care of your self...exercise, mediate, get enough sleep.

PMDD- I have serve PMDD and its effecting my life in a bad way.My marriage is on the line because of how bad mymood swings are.I was recently given (citalopram) but only 2 weeks at a time but I'm seriously scared about taking this med because of the side effects and reviews I've read..

Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.
