Common Questions and Answers about Cymbalta and nsaids

cymbalta

735919 tn?1236444549 There is always a normal bleeding risk with NSAIDs- well with Cymbalta and NSAIDs together it increased even more! My doctor must not have realized this interaction. This is why you should always be your own advocate and point these things out when you can. I think you are doing the right thing to question your safety and health. As far as Savella goes, I have not tried it myself, but I've heard lots of good things, but every body is different.
Avatar n tn All ssris and snris have as a common side effect increased bleeding and bruising. It's why they warn against using NSAIDS when you're on them except under a doctor's care. But I would be concerned if it's happening this soon after starting, and I'd also look into the recent concern over liver problems and Cymbalta. I'd talk to my psychiatrist and do some homework to see if this is the best med for you.
1008841 tn?1293598960 Bleeding issues are often seen in patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension and why cirrhotics are advised to avoid NSAIDs and other drugs that can lead to internal bleeding. Have your doctors addressed this issue? Do you have a low platelet count and a high INR blood level common with cirrhosis? I would suggest finding a doctor who is knowledgeable and experienced in treating someone with your multiple issues.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta can have many side effects as with all medications. Have you read the pamphlet that came with your prescription from the pharamcy? It's always a good idea to read the information the pharmacy includes with the medication so you are aware of what side effects are possible and what side effects may be something you need to contact your prescriber about. But yes, Headaches can be a side effect of beginning the medication.
1439066 tn?1283923487 m a problem eater to. Eat only to survive.I did just start Cymbalta about 2 weeks ago, and have to say..WOW! Re: How it's helping my pain, but still 4 hours is about the longest i can go before kidneys flare up, then off to bathroom, then i deal with the inflammation left over from the initial Kidney pain. Wierdest side effect...If that is what this is? As soon as i started Cymbalta i started sleepwalking! Every night i go to the kitchen & turn the coffee maker on. So i've been told.
630344 tn?1280104983 This week I will be starting a double-blind study to see if 30 mg is effective for FMS pain. I won't know for some time if I'm using the placebo or the actual Cymbalta. I am sensitive to medications and I am a skeptic, since I've done badly on everything I've tried before. I do more natural therapy than I do pharmaceutical. I guess I will also find out if this stuff will help with the number of and intensity of the chronic migraines, too.
Avatar f tn This has never happened before, my period usually is light and lasts at the most 5 days. I started taking Cymbalta about a month ago for depression, and can’t help but think this might be the cause. Has anyone else had this experience with Cymbalta?
924711 tn?1290266557 A drug challenge is where you take a drug, do bloodwork for liver enzymes and see if ALT and AST went up with the addition of the drug. It can take several weeks for the damage to show and several weeks for the enzymes to drop back down. It's a pretty clear statement about the drug and your liver.
Avatar f tn HOWEVER, NSAIDS didnt work, either did physcal therapy. And besides the chest pains (not far after they originally started) I also experienced shooting pains all over my body, varying in intensity. I have had EKGs, MRI of brain and cervical spine, blood tests, EMG...and have been pretty thoroughly checked out. I even tried some cymbalta to see if it was anxiety related, but it did nothing. Some days they happen 30 plus times, other times only once or twice a day.
Avatar f tn Four days later, I am back to where I started, but will return this Friday for another treatment. I am allergic to aspirin and NSAIDS which makes the pain and inflamation problem difficult to manage. I have begun Skelactin which helps, and have been on Cymbalta 60mg 1xday for four years now. I am told this cannot be combined with Lyrica, so although I have a prescription for it, I am afraid to combine them. I will ask about this on my next visit. Thank you for your advice.
Avatar f tn t work --- and I feel 10000000000 years old - and my muscles burn and ache and it hurts to lay there and it hurts to shift positions and everything throbs and hot fire shoots up and down my tendons --- and OMG - I can't even begin to describe it ---- so --- if it works for me --- it might be worth trying once NSAIDS don't seem to do the trick. Also - be careful - do some research on NSAIDS... OK?
975514 tn?1324997938 I stopped the NSAID for a short time and my body (especially my shoulder and my lower back) swelled up so bad. When I began taking the NSAID again my condition improved. I don't get pain relief per se from NSAIDs, but without them, I would have intense swelling. I have been tested for RA and am negative, at least one year ago I was. I don't really have a lot of trouble sleeping unless my shoulder or back is swollen. I frequently have to ice my shoulder to fall asleep.
Avatar f tn Excellent advice, Tuck. It took me a long time to realize this, and years of my husband trying to drill this little bit of advice into my head, but too many people elevate their doctor to "god" status and think that their word is the final one. That's completely wrong, and it's also the reason that so many people are living in pain today despite regular visits to their doctors.
Avatar n tn You have just explained to me what the cause of my hives may be,I had Dental work done in May I was given Advil (600mg strentgh) after root canal and a tooth removal I broke out in Hives and it has not gone away, I took the Advil and had quite a lot of it, also given Penicillin , so possibly finally I have found what could have caused it, I am not taking these now so why does it not go away, I have had no painkillers or Penicillin since that time.
Avatar m tn I have been taking NSAIDS like candy and very little relief. I cannot leave the house. I just lay in bed and moan most of the day.
Avatar f tn I so understand what you are going through I work on the computer most of the day because I am doing online schooling. And my hands fingers and arms ache and my husband thinks im just being silly or finding excuses. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Hi all, Hope everyone had a Merry Chrismas? I would like to post a question...I am going to my MD today due to my severe knee and feet pain...I want to discus taking either Cymbalta or Lyrica for the horrible pain I've been in which was ONE of the reasons I took pain meds and became and addict from... Now Im waling much more frequently and maintaining my Yoga but the pain has increased causing me to loose ALLOT of sleep which makes me very irritable....
Avatar n tn It is a small, well defined, spot that looks like a light bulb if I were to enter a dim room. It comes and goes in cycles every minute or so, and can last anywhere from seconds to hours. Today I had an episode where I woke up and the "flash" was extremely persistant, it was there pretty much the whole day. Just for an experiment, I took 2 motrin and it seemed to alleviate the symptom. Any ideas why? Should I be more or less worried? Thanks for your input!
4753943 tn?1359934569 I saw her toady and she has my list of meds. She put me on TRAMADOL for intense back pain (as needed), Cymbalta for the pain management and anxiety, and she knows I'm currently on 10mg Adderall for ADHD. Should I be worried? I'm not up for landing in the ER...
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you are suffering. I have RA, too, and I know what you mean about longing to enjoy things and be pain free. We all hope for remission and in the mean time have to find a way to come to terms with our pain and limitations. There are a lot of different drugs out there to help with pain and inflammation and it sounds to me like you need to ask your doctor about exploring them.
Avatar m tn there is toradol which is probably one of the strongest anti-inflammatory drugs out there, talk to a pain management doctor and tell him your story and the honest truth, and they will have a few great options for your pain...
Avatar f tn After 2 and a half years, and starting to believe that maybe I was crazy, I finally had an answer.....FIBROMYALGIA. I am being treated with Cymbalta and Hydrocodone. I was little worried about the pain med. but I can finally get through a day with pain that is tolerable and as long as I follow my script it is safe. After years of taking OTC pain relievers that contain NSAIDS (non-sterodial anti-inflammatory drugs) I have developed a pretty bad case of gastritous. NSAIDS kill my stomach.
596143 tn?1226648054 I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.
Avatar m tn I was told that i needed to centralise the pain and through the exercises and guidance from private treatments and NHS i managed to achieve this mostly. Although there is obviously still issues with my lower back the main problem is now my right thigh at the front. At first it starts with a nagging pain which can quickly build into muscle spasm's, losing balance and eventually falling over as i cant weight bear correctly. I see an Osteopath regularly. Exercise daily.
Avatar n tn I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...
Avatar m tn Hi, NSAIDs are known to increase the risk for atrial fibrillation. Your episodes of A fib could be related to NSAID usage. According to studies done, use of non-aspirin NSAIDs was associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation or flutter. Compared with non-users, the association was strongest for new users, with a 40-70% increase in relative risk (lowest for non-selective NSAIDs and highest for COX 2 inhibitors).
1258539 tn?1293840202 Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.
