Avatar n tn I have been told that it is permenent and that i could take Cymbalta. I refused and live with the pain. I need suggestions on how to deal with this. It affects my sleep, my mood with my children adn husband and my outlook on life. I cant find anything on the nerve pain affiliated with this condition. Idea????
Avatar n tn I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...
Avatar m tn Cymbalta actually worked for me after I had a major back surgery...i had alot of nerve damage in my sciatic and the cymbalta helped me while they were doing procedures to ease the nerve pain such as epidurals and rfas...however getting off of it was not the easiest thing I ever had to do...my dr lowered the dose and got me off of it safely but I was still going through some moderate withdrawals like shaking and nausea but they only lasted a few weeks and I was fine afterward...
Avatar f tn I was put on it for nueropathic pain up my neck n down my arm. I have severe nerve damage. Cymbalta took all the pain away in my neck n some other nerve pain. I love it. It truely helped me. I also am on neurontin.
Avatar n tn I have been on Seroquel 600mg and Effexor 300mg. I too am having nerve problems with my ulner nerve, numb, tingling along the inside of my left arm along with the pinky, ring finger and side of my palm. In addition to that, my inside left calf, ball of my foot and big toe are the same. The big problem is that I have an undiagnosed eye pain that is preventing me keeping my eyes open for too long at a time. I hope you find a solution to your problems.
Avatar n tn As a general rule, minor nerve damage can repair itself, but major nerve damage is permanent. I also have some numbness - mine is mostly in my right arm and shoulder. You might reconsider pain medication. I don't know about Cymbalta though. You could ask about Lyrica. It seems to help my problems on a basic level. Not all the pain, but it helps. Stretching and pilates can be very helpful, but please be careful. Chiari is a neurological issue - your back is prone to disorders.
Avatar m tn it sounds like you have had extensive injury since you had tendon and artery damage as well. The ulnar nerve crosses along the medial aspect of the elbow (the part of the elbow closer to the body, where the "funny bone" is). It is a common site of ulnar nerve injury.
217229 tn?1192762404 OK. I went to this VERY nice Doctor in Anchorage. At first she let me know that she "THOUGHT" I had bad posture, was overweight and had carpal tunnel which was what was causing my pain - but that she was going to run some tests. I went back to the hotel thinking --- woohoooooo! I can lose 25 lbs --- I'll be a slimmer me... I'll sit up straight --- and I'll get those gellie keyboard thingies... Wooohooooo! I CAN FIX THIS....
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm trying to find out more information from others who are going through ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve damage or neuralgia. I've been suffering from groin pain and numbness of my right leg after an ovarian egg retrieval. This was my third egg retrieval as an egg donor. Somehow during this last retrieval nerves were damaged most likely due to scar tissue being built up or the needle damaging the nerves.
Avatar n tn I use Cymbalta for abdomen, neck and hand pain and Fibromyalgia. It does a good job for me. There are some unpleasant side effects such as nausea and being light headed upon standing being the worst for me. I tried Neurontin and Lyrica. I couldn't take the side effects from either of those two. I've experienced life without Cymbalta. Without it my pains levels are considerably higher. My mood is much better on it.
Avatar n tn Over a year ago I was diagnosed with having a bone spur at the C-5 level right side and the C-4 and C-5 discs are bulging and actually causing my spinal cord to push forward. I've been having a lot of headaches, neck and shoulder pain, muscle weakness and tingling in my right arm and hand and even sometimes in my left hand. I've seen a Neurosurgeon and Neurologist. I'm currently taking Lyrica and Cymbalta for the nerve pain.
Avatar n tn THEY WORK THE SAME.... I SWITCH BETWEEN THE TWO MEDS AND TAKE IT WITH CYMBALTA AND THEY BOTH HELP FIBRO AND BURNING PAINFUL FEET..
611606 tn?1315517767 Cheri was worry because of possible liver damage, but I started telling Debi about the urine flow or lack of it and this other stuff, so she also found the site for side effects for the Cymbalta... I also know I have to watch not to drink too much water because of the Lack of sodium in my diet. Always such a fine line we have to walk.. Is there any one else using Cymbalta for deep nerve pain? This is such a double edge sword, and feels so unfair...
Avatar f tn I ask the nurse why the thyroid med and she said because the tx would affect that. Cymbalta just because I needed it and is true. Lyrica because of some nerve damage from cryoglobulima. And the rest is history.
Avatar f tn They keep the brain from being overwhelmed. But in the case of nerve damage or a nerve system malformation (Like Chiari or Fibromyelgia) they can help tremendously with chronic pain. I only know of Paroxetine and Cymbalta from what I've read, but to be honest, I think the risks of side-effects are pretty dangerous, I'd suggest you ask your doctor about Lyrica instead. Lyrica also can have side effects, but so can any drug.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta is used to treat major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder. It is also used to treat pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy). If your provider prescribed it for you he/she must think that it will be beneficial for you and you should take it as prescribed. Second guessing your provider, which so many people in these forums do, can be at a minimum detrimental to your overall mental health.
Avatar f tn I was on percocet lyrica and cymbalta. Once the nerve damage got better I stopped the lyrica and cymbalta. After going back to work after surgery, I was afraid of taking percocet (im a teacher) so the dr gave me tramadol. 2 weeks ago I had steroidal injections in my pelvis and asked for something stronger because the tramadol wasnt working. I only take the vicodin at night, but it doesnt get rid of the pain.
Avatar f tn I have peripheral neuropathy (below both knees) dx resulting from chemotherapy 5 years ago. I also have nerve damage that happened during a spinal fusion (spinal stenosis) 2 years ago that damaged my rt upper leg (it feels like it's severely sunburned and sometimes as if cold water had been thrown on it). I've noticed recently that the pain seems to get severe when the weather changes. I find it hard to believe, is that possible?
Avatar n tn Hey Paula and welcome to the MS Forum. In response to your post I would like to say that the Cymbalta may take a bit of time to start showing you any relief. Many of us here suffer from this "Nerve Pain" and it is not pleasant but you may have to try a few different meds before you find the one that will work for that pain. I have tried topamax, neurontin, lyrica, tegretol and finally they tried elavil (amitriptyline) for the pain in my legs and it seems to have helped.
Avatar f tn After 2 more spinal fusions to correct the problem it was determined that the problems i am having cannot be corrected. I am left with permanent damage and neupathic nerve pain. To add to it my lower back has disc compression issues. I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment. I have been on (6 yrs) Gabapentin, now at 1200mg 4 times a day along with Oxycontin and breakthu oxycodone.
Avatar f tn What exactly are cymbalta and lyrica? Aren't they anti-depressants? How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
Avatar n tn My cup/disc ratios and nerve analysis have been borderline from what I remember. Something where it could indicate a problem but not definite. My grandmother had glaucoma and used drops to lower her eye pressures. My doctor has been taking a wait and see approach based on the thought that most occular hypertensives don't develop galucoma. Just had a 6 month check up visit where my eye pressures were 32 and 26. 6 months ago they were 26 and 24.
Avatar f tn She takes cymbalta for nerve damage and pain and it helps with a number of things you listed vibrations vertigo etc, is also a anti depressant and it gives you energy. She is also taking neurontin for nerve pain as well as vicodin when it gets really bad. I hope this is some use to you.
Avatar n tn Has your doctor considered that diabetic nerve damage to the vagus nerve into your stomach and intestines has turned into gastraparisis? Hope you find an answer and feel better soon.
Avatar n tn I explained that I felt ok since the surgery so how could it be nerve damage? He told me that nerve damage can come instantly or come months after having surgery. I didn't know what was going on all I knew was I was in alot of pain and wanted this fixed or whatever. So workers comp sent me back to the original surgeon that fixed me prior. He had examined me said everything was fine and that there was no need to due surgery and referred me to a urologist.
Avatar m tn its started after i gt acid reflux. and i also got high blood cholestrol. my BP and diabetic is normal and most of the time i worried about my health and cant relax. i already do a anxiety test in online and the result come around 80% and its prove that i got anxiety , is this caused by anxiety or something else??
