cymbalta

1348086 tn?1370783185 The psychiatrist weaned me off of cymbalta back in March and April while introducing with notriptyline stepping up to 75mg. I have been on the full 75mg since the end of April. I went today for my scheduled appointment and let him know that I didn't think it was helping. He had stated something about getting me back on cymbalta with something called deplin as a supplement. I told him that I would rather not get back on cymbalta due to the awful side effects that the weaning had.
Avatar f tn Deplin is a folic acid supplement. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it. Tend to have my doubts, but I have read where it has made some anti-depressant meds more effective. Many of the stimulants used for medicating ADD can be addicting because they are stimulants. However, someone with ADD or ADHD usually does not become addicted because they don't get the "rush" from the meds. Some of the stimulants are formulated to make abuse even more unlikely.
Avatar m tn Maybe first make a switch to Effexor XR and then add Deplin (one tablet a day) The Folate in Deplin is absorbed directly into blood plasma and can help antidepressants like Effexor work even better. (No you can not get this same effect by taking Folic acid suppliments) If the Effexor and Deplin fail you then you could try adding about 600Mgs a day of Lithium which will act as a booster drug. (No, Lithium is used just as often for uni-polar people as it is Bi-polar people.
1381925 tn?1280788541 I have been put on celexa, prozac, abilify, lamictal, zoloft, lexapro, lorazapam, clonazpam, seraquil, luvox, deplin, pristiq, cymbalta and even done 5 sessions of ECT ( electroconvulsive shock therapy) I have been to a neurologist, had an EEG,MRI, thyroid testing, and many blood tests. I am supposed to be attending UNCG in 3 weeks and I would really love go to, but I don't see that being possible in the condition I am in now. This has ruined my life, I would be SO HAPPY to have it back..
1348086 tn?1370783185 I was on it until March of this year. I started seeing a psychiatrist in March and he determined that the cymbalta was not working anymore according to what I told him. He weaned me off of the cymbalta, which was pure hell!!!! I guess there is a site for cymbalta withdrawal for a reason (www.cymbaltawithdrawal.com). I have been on nortriptyline since then and it is not working either.

Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
Avatar m tn She did and the next 14 months were mental h e l l. I finally went to a Psychiatrist and he put me on Cymbalta and Deplin. My neurologist can't make a diagnosis and he wanted me to tell my Psychiatrist to take me off Cymbalta because he thought it was causing my symptoms. I told him that I had just began my Cymbalta and my symptoms have been with me for 20 years so there was no way I was going to ask him to take me off the Cymbalta.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I think anyone that needs a bit more punch out of their antidepressant should take Deplin. The science is there and it really does work.
433485 tn?1321813390 After numerous med switches and them pooping out. He started me on Lamictal, Seraquel, Lexapro and Deplin ( medical food containing methollfolate which helps the body process folic acid). Recently we had to ramp up the lamictal and lexapro and I seem to be doing better. A few months ago is when he changed the diagnosis. I was not happy as I felt a stigma about being classified as Bipolar 2.. I am also in therapy who is doing cognitive behavior therapy with me.
1590266 tn?1297045222 The next morning, I went to a GP, who suggested it was all anxiety related (2 months previous to this I had stopped taking Cymbalta cold turkey) and put me back on Cymbalta and added Nexium for my nausea/upset stomach. Well, for that entire day and about 2 and a half months straight afterword, my life was a nightmare every day. The weird feelings continued to come in waves. I lost 20 pounds, which put me at about 99 pounds.
Avatar f tn He is still noticably twitching in his upper body and face. Could the deplin be causing this or does it just take a while for the ability to get out of his system. Do you think the twitching will go away? I would hate for him to carry this through his whole life. He's only a teenager. He never had any twitching when he was only taking paxil.
Avatar m tn t worry I know people on 250 a day and Zoloft is safe at that dosage) Then I would add Deplin which will help the Zoloft work better. Deplin a simply a very concentrated form of Folic Acid (really just a vitamin) that helps antidepressants like Zoloft work better. (keep in mind Deplin is only avalible with perscription) That's not a radical change and if it failes to help, then at least your not having to stop Abilify when it failes to work.
Avatar f tn I know of no other way (test) that shows if your body (folic acid) can break down into L-Mythylfolate, which Deplin fixes. Deplin is for depression as well as other things. If you ended up taking it down the road message and I'll give you more info about it. Exercising even just walking Meditating Yoga Eating regularily daily and eating Healthy foods Therapy, regular Therapy, DBT Therapy or CBT Therapy. The diff types of Theripies work for people differently.
Avatar m tn My dr just gave me an rx for Deplin too. Deplin is l-Methylfolate, the breakdown of folic acid. She said it should help with the depression. My Vit D was very low also. I am still waiting for my other bloodwork. I would suggest if you have not gotten your bloodwork done, this would be helpful. Vit B's, Vit D, iron, glutamate and your Thyroid can all effect your mood and behaviors. This is what I know so far.

433485 tn?1321813390 I amgoing off of the deplin as it doesnt seem to be working and costs an arm and a leg, even with insurance.
Avatar f tn They have L-Methylfolate in the health food store but I need to do some research to see how it compares to Deplin and the dosaging. They also have Deplin coupons on line you can try to use at your pharmacy. I forgot to mention above that I was low on folic acid too. I think people with Bipolar especially should have any kind of bloodwork that effects energy because there are so many different causes that it could be.
596143 tn?1226648054 I'm on Cymbalta for moodswings and fibro. Someone posted that they were on Cymbalta and Lamactil and it worked well. Cant find the post. Anyone taking this combination and does it work.
Avatar n tn I was put on cymbalta for depression and nerve pain ( RSD ). I hate taking new medicines I know nothing about. I am young and I am afraid of it. I start off taking 30 mgs for a week than increase to 60 than I will get up to 120 at some point. Could someone please tell me something about this drug? Is it safe? Thanks Susan...
1258539 tn?1293840202 Overall I think Cymbalta is one of the best medication out there but this have a cost. Cymbalta cost is outrageous and Cymbalta is very hard to stop. I stopped cold-turkey after using it for only 5 months and I had brain zaps for a little more than a month. The withdrawal was quite severe but it is expected with all potent powerful antidepressant.
1348086 tn?1370783185 I am on day 9 of prozac along with deplin. My anxiety has gone way down, thankfully, but every day now for about 4 days, I am battling depression and today it is producing panic from my depression. I need some reassurance that the prozac is going to eventually work. I feel desperate.
Avatar f tn personal_page_id=817569 The link above takes you to the person on here who wrote about Cymbalta and Abilify helping her daughters. It is written in five parts. Thought you might be interested.
Avatar n tn I have come off of a lot of my medications. My final meds are Wellbutrin, Trazodone and Cymbalta. The Wellbutrin is suppose to take the place of the cymbalta. After horrible withdrawal, I came completely off of Cymbalta last week. I became so depressed that I couldn't stand to talk, much less move. All I wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. When I did interact, I was grizzly mean.
Avatar n tn The average dose for Cymbalta is 60mg per day, and although some doctors do prescribe it 120mg per day...there is no evidence to prove that it helps any more than the 60 mg per day. The maximim dose for Prozac is 80mg per day so you're still below the highest dosage on that one. I doubt your doctor will increase the Cymbalta anymore, and if he tries to...find another doctor! Best wishes.
Avatar f tn My sister started taking Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia and her appetite dropped a lot, and just a few months later she was pre-diabetic. I have read some other people's comments saying that going on or even going off of cymbalta has really messed up their blood sugar. some people even say that it made them diabetic. so if you are on cymbalta, just watch out for some of the pre-diabetes symptoms and tell your doctor about any weird eating habit changes that happen.
Avatar f tn Namaste, mcmcorp45 offers excellent information and advice and it is true that studies have shown that Cymbalta does note alter the reproduction process. If this is going to be your first child and you are having difficulties, I would consult with a doctor, who may need to refer you to a specialist as mcmcorp45 mentioned. Don't forget to have both parties evaluated for a possible problem.
Avatar n tn And Paxil gives more people a rough time upon stopping than any other antidepressant other than Effexor (and, ahem, Cymbalta). Your friend should have been tapered off the Paxil, and maybe was, but if not, and even if your friend was, there's a lot going on now possibly, too much for us to say which is which.
