Avatar n tn In 1990 I had polops removed. This helped heaps and I was clear for a few years, Then again the sinus started with a vengence in the year 2001 after a few cat scans I was told I had more polops and a hole in my septum, so back to the drawing boad I go and had another op. This time it did not fix me. I have been on antibiotic since 2002. Today as we speak I am on antibiotic with predisilone with rhinocort aqueous, nozoil and sinus wash. Still to no avail.
Avatar n tn i'm 23y/o i live in alaska and i've been using a cpap machine for about a year now. in the past 2 months i've had 2 sinus infections. i have never had a sinus infection prior to this. Can this be due to my cpap machine?

Avatar f tn I never did ask the doctor for more clarification because my headaches slowly went away over about 1-2 weeks after I posted this. If you do a search for "Water retention and OSA/CPAP??" you'll find a support forum with a letter someone posted that their registered nurse sent them. Part of that letter says, "The use of CPAP can decrease the amount of urine that you produce with a consequent increase in water retention and body weight.
Avatar f tn Can you use vicks vapor rub and afrin to help with sinus issues? Can you use stool softners? What can you take for indigestion?
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I also have major sinus problems. I've tried the bipap and cpap machines with many different mask and can't find anything I can tolerate. The mask is one thing, but the air being forced causes my sinus problems to increase by stopping up my nose which makes me breathe through my mouth which as everyone knows won't work. Does anyone have issues close to what I have or any other suggestions.

586101 tn?1239680323 As far as I know, I'm not aware of any studies linking all three. But one thing that obstructive sleep apnea can do is to aggravate almost every other condition. Sleep apnea causes a chronic low-grade stress response, which can definitely affect your immune system. It's also been shown that if you have sleep apnea, the vacuum forces that are created can suck up normal stomach juices into your throat, which can in small amounts go into your lungs and sinuses, causing inflammation.
Avatar f tn I checked with the doctor and it seems to be like sinus for me.
Avatar f tn I am 64 with copd and sleep apnea also. I use a cpap at night with 2 liters oxygen. I use several inhalers. The cpap is designed to push the air in your lungs to keep you from dieing when you stop breathing in your sleep. It also makes your lungs stronger because it forces them to work on a deeper level. How long have you been using a cpap? Do you get along with it ok? I have had mine since November.
1237284 tn?1267997794 re feeling is not a true sinus infection, but a variation of a migraine in your sinuses, due to the pressure irritation from CPAP. This can give you sinus pain, pressure, post-nasal drip and congestion. Did you ever try using a Neti-pot or any other saline irrigation system nightly?
514349 tn?1272801633 I have other sleep problems, but I have not yet had to go to a CPAP. I understand if I wish to go to a CPAP my doctor requires I do another overnight in hospital (or other sleep study center) CPAP test to determine the best "settings" for me. So far I am CPAP free.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea (sleep study results are below), however, it's not clear to me that sleep apnea is causing my problem. My primary problem is brain fog (a feeling like I have not completely awakened from sleep with an inability to focus and concentrate). This is intermittent, however.
