My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.

There is clear and recognized link between MS and sleep disorders --- at least some types of sleep disorders and especially when MS lesions are present in the brain stem. MS can definitely cause a type of sleep apnea called central sleep apnea. I'm wondering if you have that and if it might be why you need bi-pap instead of CPAP. Do you have trouble exhaling against the constant air pressure of CPAP (if you ever used it, of course)?

Park, Tonight I was talking with Shadowsister and she is having trouble with nighttime sleeping - she is having MS spasm problems with her tracheotomy and the tube has become clogged and has also been ejected by the spasms. This is the first these problems have happened in the approx. 20 years she has had a trach. Sleep is worrisome to her because of this problem, and she mentioned that she was going to ask her doctor for a CPAP machine to use to help keep her airway open.

For whatever it's worth, I have sleep apnea, MS and degenerative disk disease. Also insomnia which could be caused by pain and sleeping meds (go figure!). I saw my pulmonary specialist/sleep doc after the dx of MS and he said there is a link to MS. He wants to repeat sleep tests every two years. I can't recall what the numbers from my last study are but I'll be repeating the test soon; I feel the need to research this more. The more I read about apnea, the more concerned I get.

I found that my energy level improved with CPAP but I still had my MS fatigue, so between CPAP and Adderall, on a good day, I am feel super. On Tysabri day, I feel like my butt got kicked and spend the afternoon on the recliner! I did get my Tysabri this week! I took aspirin to make sure (LOL) but it was 98.5. Seems a fever makes Tysabri act weird or something.

Ok, I get it that we have things other than MS, but as I drove home from getting CPAP instructions this morning, I realized I had a dance card full of diseases "guaranteed for life". I so wanted to avoid a CPAP machine. I have an appointment Friday afternoon to see my MS specialist neurologist and his psychologist for additional testing and to go over my new MRIs, SSER, and the like. Now I get to go back the same night and do another sleep study to see how well a machine helps. When I had my first appointment, he asked what symptom I had that bothered me most. I said the weird paresthesias.

Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!

I saw the MS neurologist, neuropsychologist, and nurse practitioner today. There is an entry in my journal with the prior stuff. No new or enhancing lesions anywhere. The few punctate ones on my 3T brain MRI don't show on the 1.5T one taken with MS protocol, and the neuroradiologist doesn't mention any. I still have the two in my cervical spine. Nothing interesting in my thoracic.

But before you look for other explanations, make sure that your CPAP therapy is optimal. If your machine doesn't have these reports, then consider asking for a model that has these features. An auto-adjusting machine is another option (that usually has all these reporting features).

20 small brain lesions but inconsistent with MS. All other tests were negative for MS. Diagonsed with Lyme disease through Igenex (but not CDC). Mississippi has the "Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi" which helps folks out with issues like this when insurance companies won't pay for supplies, meds, etc. When we moved from Ala back to MS in May they gave my child 1 months supply of Lantus--they will also give $ if they do not have the supplies you need-you may want to check with the Diabetes Foundation of your state....

I have all of the types of fatigue correlated to MS, as well as a problem with falling asleep while driving and at my desk at work. I could deal with the general fatigue, but falling asleep while driving and at work are absolutely unacceptable of course. My doc has put me on Provigil, and it worked well for about a month. Now it is not helping me. My Question is this: Does anyone know of a resource that has a comprehensive list of treatments for MS fatigue?
