Common Questions and Answers about Cpap quattro mask

Avatar f tn I have had excellent luck with the Resmed Mirage Quattro mask. It has a knob at the top of the mask that adjusts the pressure against the forehead and nose. I wake-up without redness or cuts on the nose. It is a full face mask which is a concern if you're using the nasal CPAP. I was getting redness and cuts when I first started using CPAP but it turns out that my mask was too small. Once I went to a large Mirage Quattro, the bleeding stopped.
Avatar m tn hi! I'm boiling my resmed mask in water for 30sec and I think it really helps to clean it out, vinegar may also work I've been taking d mannose hoping it will stop any brain damage I've gotten from sleep apnea if anyone wants to talk about sleep apnea and treatments that would be great!
Avatar m tn The masks were cutting my nose and I needed to put bandaids on it. I have a mask now called Respro Quattro Elite. It has a knob at the top of the mask that adjusts the pressure on the forehead and nose. It has really helped. I still wake up with a little redness but it's gone by the time I'm out of the shower. Also, there's another sleep apnea forum that's very helpful with these types of issues. Try www.apneasupport.org.
332074 tn?1229560525 I use the full CPAP mask that covers my mouth and nose. At first it caused me a somewhat claustrophobic feeling and I always wanted to rip it off my face, but I got over that after a few days and now it is no problem. I sleep like a baby with it now.
525545 tn?1293181194 m assuming you had a second sleep study done with CPAP to determine the correct pressure and type of mask--did your doctor's report state that your sleep quality significantly improved with CPAP? Typically, companies that provide you with the CPAP machine have a card with a microchip in it that monitors how often the machine is being used, for what period of time, and whether or not it is being properly used (via pressure measurements and recordings).
Avatar f tn Hi Meagher sorry you are having problem with your CPAP the only thing i may suggest is another type of mask i dout if the CPAP machine would send out any toxic air what i my suggest is run the CPAP for a while please let me know how you get on........
Avatar n tn ve tried to use CPAP for more than a year with no success, using full mask, nasal mask or nasal pillows with chin strap. They either keep me from falling asleep, or I can't get them easily reseated without leaks if I have to get out of bed during the night. I also have trouble keeping the headgear/chin strap in place even when it's correctly adjusted; it slips off my head. I have to over-tighten it; not only uncomfortable, but it irritates my skin. Have you tried CPAP Pro?
Avatar f tn s I have a cpap machine and there are no horror stories about it as long as you get the right mask to fit you you will be fine there is air blowing when you breathe in and out it is normal especially if you have a nasal mask I have a full face mask because I am a mouth breather and because I have oxygen going in mine I like the cpap good luck.
Avatar n tn You might also try sleeping with just the mask and no pressure for a couple of days to see if it is a pressure issue or a weirdness of having a mask on. Once you are used to the feel of a mask, a lot can be done with pressures. My machine will gradually increase to the right pressure over time if I want it to, but I don't bother with that anymore. Please keep trying!
Avatar m tn yeah needing to do something different. but the cpap mask is full mask. and think i remember its on auto. one of the new resmed models .
Avatar n tn I too had terrible double vision after using my new CPAP with a face mask that covered my whole nose and mouth. I tried to hydrate my eyes with no effect. I changed my mask to the Amara view mask which covers only my mouth and the tip of my nose. My vision went back to normal in 3 days. It's not dry eyes, it's the mask putting pressure on the muscles around your eyes.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Welcome to the CPAP world - what you describes sounds a lot like what I had going on initially. It turned out that I didn't have the right size mask and they switched me to a smaller mask. When the mask is too big, the seal is easily broken and then you start getting all sorts of weird vibrations and actions in the mask. The chipmunk cheeks stopped for me once the mask was properly fitted. Also, the dry mouth comes from exhaling through your mouth.
Avatar f tn Hi I've been diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea and mild narcolepsy. I've got a long history of sleep paralysis and I use a cpap machine. But my sleep paralysis is getting worse. If my husband doesn't take off my cpap mask, I will stay stuck in the paralysis. So far I believe this to be for atleast 15mins as he went tto feed our son after I woke and I was stuck there until he returned and I could grunt at him. In addition, I also am practically not breathing.
Avatar f tn Hi, do you use a mask?. The pressure from the mask can cause swelling around the eyes. You could start by trying them for very short periods and then increase the timing as you get more comfortable. Alternatively, you could try BiPAP, which is a bi level pressure device, which regulates according to inspiration and expiration, and hence is more comfortable. Also check with your doctor to rule out other causes for the swelling like allergies or kidney disorders. Regards.
Avatar m tn I seem to have developed an alergic reaction to my cpap mask. I have little red bumps on the right side of my face only in areas where the mask hits my face, ie. the silicone seal. What can I do to avoid this other than obviously not use the mask? Are my symptoms consistent with a mask alergy? My Dr. says its an alergic reaction and said to get a non alergenic mask.. I don't know where. The bumps are ITCHY and tend to be in tight little circles, some what like acne.
1622896 tn?1562364967 Hi Bob How long have you had your machine mate, how often do you change the silicone face mask, how often do you clean the whole apparatus, how many hours on average per night or week do you use the CPAP machine , do you use a humidifier on the CPAP , have you had any trouble with the CPAP. I have had my CPAP machine just over 12 months I have used it for approx 1850 Hrs and used two face masks ( silicone ) I have my humidifier set at 2 no more.

222135 tn?1236488221 Any one use a CPAP or BiPAP? Can you tell me how long it took you to get used to sleeping with it? Do you really feel better? Waiting to get mine and not too thrilled about it. I hated it when I had to do the titration stay for CPAP. Really did not like the way it felt. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn My husband has been on a cpap machine for a year now. In the past three or four months he has developed a large amount of mucus and slime in his throat and head. To the point that it makes him vomit every morning and now it is getting to happening sometimes in the course of the day. He has had tests to try to find the problem but have come up with nothing so was wondering if it could be from the cpap machine. Has anyone else had this problem ? We are desperate so please help if you can.
Avatar f tn Hi there, i recently had a trial of cpap , but the mask covered my nose and mouth , i found it very difficult to wear. I only had a 5 day trial, my doc says not enough evidence from the results so i have to have further indepth tests done, awaiting a date for this. It was thought that i had osa ( obstructive sleep apnoae ) . I felt tired in the mornings cos it would take me a long time to get any sleep with the machine on .
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I also have major sinus problems. I've tried the bipap and cpap machines with many different mask and can't find anything I can tolerate. The mask is one thing, but the air being forced causes my sinus problems to increase by stopping up my nose which makes me breathe through my mouth which as everyone knows won't work. Does anyone have issues close to what I have or any other suggestions.
Avatar n tn I didn't relate the horrible red bloodshot eyes to the CPAP, but now that my eyelids are swollen, itchy and my eyes are staying red, and the only thing that's changed is I've been wearing a cpap mask for the past 8 nights...I guess that's what's happening. I called the sleep clinic, talked to a nurse and she told me to stop the cpap for a couple nights to see if it got better. I've gone one night without the cpap...
Avatar m tn Is it normal to wake up several nights (3 or 4) with the mask on? I thought the CPAP was supposed to make me sleep better not waking up a lot of times. I'm not sure what is going on because I woke up one night with the mask on and was choking and gasping for air than I had a seizure.
5054005 tn?1362922551 t know how long you have been on CPAP , please stick with it you may have to bring the mask closer to you. what type of mask you have ?
