cpap

Avatar f tn My daughter has sleep apnea and (I believe) has just arranged for this device. Shall I get more information from her for you? (It was an oral surgeon who told her about it.
Avatar m tn It really depends on what's causing your nasal congestion. I have a wealth of resources on my website (http://doctorstevenpark.com), as well as articles on nasal congestion on ezinearticles.com. You can just search for my name.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your information - I will take into serious consideration everything that you said.
Avatar f tn t do too much active stuff though I am constantly encouraging him to go ride his bike or got to the park. He has been on a cpap machine for 6 months with no improvement. And we just got labs done thyroid is normal but has a cholesterol of 220 and his liver enzymes are elevated one of them is double what they are supposed to be. Something else is going on but I don't know what. Someone please help me figure this out.
572651 tn?1530999357 Thanks for the information - I will pass it on to her for discussion with her doctor. I didn't think the CPAP was the right approach.
Avatar m tn Interestingly I was talking to my Doctor yesterday and telling him about this project. His view was that it could be a helpful resource. Naturally, your answers would never be linked to your name and those contributing will receive a comlimentary copy of the book once it is published. If you would like to receive my questionnaire please send me an e-mail at ***@****. I will send it out to within 24 hours. Thank you.
956292 tn?1334054869 Hi, To answer your question: No I haven't heard of the sleep study for MS. My MS specialist and neurologist KNOW I experience pretty severe fatigue and they never once mentioned to have a sleep study done. (they don't know I had a sleep study or that I use the CPAP) forgot to mention it to them... I had a sleep study done back in April, before my MS symptoms began...(I was dx with asthma.... the pulmonologist asked if I had fatigue or did I snore..
Avatar n tn A while back someone was collecting information about the way we sleep (stomach, sides, back) and if we had cold hands and/or feet- etc. I can't remember who asked the questions though. This same person contacted another doctor: Dr. Stephan Park, he had something to say on the topic- but again, I don't believe the answer to your question has been decided yet. I think you can find this information by putting sleep apnea and multiple sclerosis into the search bar.
Avatar m tn i have mild obstructive sleep apnea and use a cpap,,,i was recently in hospital for some stomach surgery and noticed how much better i felt each morning after using oxygen at 2 liters with my cpap then when i was at home...even though i was in pain i woke every morning feeling very refreshed.. i feel the oxygen made a big difference in my recovery and feeling much better...could using oxygen at home just with the cpap give me the same feeling of being able "to take on the world" ...
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the information about the cpap machine with the supplemental oxygen. I, too, had the problem with the pressure of the machine and simply could not tolerate it. I haven't had a sleep study in several years, but during my last one they did tell me I had apnea (at that time my o2 levels stayed right around where yours are - mid to upper 80s) so they didn't feel I needed any intervention at that time.
Avatar n tn I have just found out that our doctors are going to work on ruling things out to see if my daughter has abdominal migraines. She has been complaining of a "sore tummy" randomly for about the last 6 months. I never thought much about it because like I said it has been very random. But recently it has become more often and she has began vomiting along with becoming extremely pale with purple/black around her eyes to the point where it looks like she has been punched.
1307298 tn?1305946851 I'm interested in reading any responses on Provent use. I've read discussions about it on another forum, but not from anyone who had used it. I would want with any treatment to have a sleep study while using it to confirm it is indeed effective. Is there anything in particular about your CPAP giving you a problem, or just in general? I've been using CPAP about 5 years. Can't say I'd never consider another form of treatment, just would have to know for sure it was working.
Avatar f tn I agree that there are likely things he can do to make his CPAP experience less bothersome. While the surgeries available must help some people, knowing if you (or your husband) will be one of the successes is an educated guess if he has a good doctor, a crap shoot if he doesn't. Some do go on to need CPAP anyhow.
Avatar m tn ventricular function significantly improved after 3 months, associated with a relative 81% risk reduction for mortality or cardiac transplantation. Recently, in a randomized trial in 55 patients, CPAP therapy for 3 months improved ventricular function and reduced sympathetic activity in patients with heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Avatar f tn I also want to thank you for telling us your experience. Real life situations teach us a lot. Is it hard using the CPAP machine? That's always a fear of mine.
Avatar n tn I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.
Avatar n tn CT scan of the chest was negative, echo negative for pulmonary hypertension. I am frightened not to use my CPAP due to the confusion, yet the choking is horrible too. Is there a disorder of the bronchi that can be causing this? I only have the mucous when I use the CPAP.
Avatar m tn Since the strokes, the migraines are almost a daily occurrence (although he does take propranolol as a preventative med for them), he cannot tolerate the CPAP( we have had additional sleep studies and made changes to the CPAP without any improvement).
Avatar n tn The most common treatment and arguably the most consistently effective treatment for sleep apnea is the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. In addition to CPAP, a dentist specializing in sleep disorders can prescribe Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). So please contact your doctor if you have not done it before so that treatment can be started. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn My husband was recently given a cpap and a brand new mask. He used it a couple of nights and really felt great in the mornings when he woke up. Friday night he used the mask, slept in a recliner (he is a heavy man and has a hard time sleeping lying down) and literally slept for 9 straight hours in the same position. When he woke up he felt so great, but he had a hard red lump in the middle of his eyebrows.
Avatar f tn This led the authors of the study to conclude that edema may be caused by OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) itself, rather than by CPAP usage. If you would like to see the study for yourself, you can find the journal article here: http://www.sleep-journal.com/article/S1389-9457(04)00116-9/abstract?cc=y You many want to call your sleep doctor/pulmonologist to describe these symptoms you're having and get their opinion on the best way to treat the swelling.
Avatar m tn In order for this to take place a sleep study would be required in order to determine how much oxygen you need bled into the cpap system. Need this retest in order for insurance to cover it, and the MD needs the test to write the prescription for oxygen. This is what I'm gathering from the information you gave me, assuming all your cardiac tests checked out.
Avatar f tn I think not getting enough oxygen in my body is what is causing me the most problems right down to digestion. I use a cpap and also have the mouth appliance. CPAP works best for me but simply not enough. Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar n tn m reconsidering continuing to take Trazodone now that I have a CPAP and am hoping that maybe with CPAP I can learn to sleep without medication and the dry mouth due to this medication will go away.
