cpap

Avatar n tn Do you have any idea where I can find info for the doctors.
Avatar f tn My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.
Avatar n tn Some machines record treatment data that reports how well the treatment is working for your apnea. Also, if you are on CPAP, some masks have straps that are too tight around the lower back of the head and hurt the muscles of the neck that connect the head and shoulders.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with moderate (13) sleep apnea several years ago but never could get used to the CPAP. I have Disk Degenerative Disease with two vertebra abnormalities. In addition I am being treated for hi blood pressure, hi cholesterol, fibromyalgia with Gabapentin, zoloft. etc. Could it be all of these drugs? I also had a blood test and am now taking 1000 mg of Vit. D, and Vit B. But I still sleep 15 hours and always feel tired.
1302038 tn?1439575232 Can you call your sleep clinic for a temporary loaner cpap - this is what I did while waiting for my cpap. Also, try to sleep with your head elevated, head and chin pointed back kind of in a cpr position - thereby opening your airway while your sleep. Also make sure you don't eat anything 3-4 before bedtime.
559187 tn?1330782856 I just got a call from my ENT who ordered a sleep study for me a couple weeks ago. She said that I need to do another sleep study and be put on CPAP as my results showed medically significant apnea. Ah ha, no wonder I am so tired all the time. I was hopeful that this time the apnea would still be in the mild range and i could avoid having to go to CPAP. I agreed with the doctor to try the CPAP and see if it will help.
Avatar n tn I also have swelling of the feet and ankles using cpap. Im not overweight, no other health problems, no medications, no heart problems and no swelling before I used the cpap machine. I will be taking this up with my sleep therapist on my next visit as I am tired of my legs feeling tight. I work a lot of hours on my feet and have for the last 10 years but only started suffering swelling 2 weeks after using my cpap machine.
Avatar n tn I do not understand why someone would still be having symptoms when using the CPAP machine. Isn't that supposed to cure the problem. It seems that the breathing gets worse when using the CPAP machine. I feel like I have been drugged in the morning and it takes 3 to 4 hours to get going. Prior to the sleep study, I felt great! Got up in the AM, lots of energy all day, no sleepliness, none of the symptoms that one may have with apena.
Avatar n tn You might want to google something like 'sleep apnea mouth breathing leaks' to find info on how cpap treatment is adversely affected by mouth breathing. The need for cpap is not based on how one feels or doesn't feel or how long it takes, but on diagnosis. Also, timing till one feels better is most realistically assessed by counting the time as starting after one knows their treatment is optimized and all the 'bugs' worked out. Good luck going forward.
385668 tn?1301793880 I too gave up and quit cpap for a few months, but when I tried again it was with the support of a forum of cpap users. Now I am totally adjusted and forget I even have the thing on. When you read online all the negative things about any surgery it is good to take heed. However, do consider that only those who had a problem make their way to an internet forum to state their case.

Avatar n tn I have been on a cpap machine for 15 years. And about three days ago I woke up with pain on the left side of the bridge of my nose. Now today, the bridge of my nose is slightly swollen and extremely painful. I haven't had a broken nose so I cannot compare. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn My c-pap machine is a REMstarAUTO with A-Flex. It's a very good machine. I took the model with the humidifier because they air in winter is to dry not to have it. My only problem is that I have a nasal mask only and I should have get two! One nasal and a full face for when I have sinus infections (which is often with me!). I tried both but I prefer the nasal one. If you have a the chance ask if you can try diferent kind of mask before you make your choice.
Avatar f tn I have been having chronic fatigue for a couple of years. Past year got so bad I almost had several MVA's. Finally went in and was tested. Severe sleep apnea and PLM's (alot of them). Cpap at 10cm helped daytime fatigue and I am sleeping better but still aytime fatigue. Provagil helps but not with driving. Ritalin, adderal not helping with that yet. Still testing for Hypersomnia vs Narcolepsy. Repeat sleep study showed very little Apnea but still some PLM's.
Avatar f tn s during the test so she ordered oxygen for me (I had tried teh CPAP machine a few years back and was unable to tolerate it). My question is - I am a mouth breather (always have been), but the supplemental oxygen is through a nasal cannula. Is this method of supplying the oxygen sufficient since I breath through my mouth and not my nose or should I request a mask to wear instead? Right now my o2 is set at 2lpm if that makes any difference.
Avatar n tn I've been using a CPAP machine for over a year now. I wake up several times a night - more than I did before having the machine - but often attribute it to just being uncomfortable with the mask since I generally do feel better and think that the quality of my sleep time is better. There are times, however, that I feel like I had been experiencing apneas and it makes me wonder whether the pressure is optimal.
Avatar n tn I'm a 37 y.o. female with sleep apnea and I am fully compliant with wearing my CPAP. Over the last two months, I've had three seperate episodes of waking from sleep and being actively choking. It feels to me like I'm choking on saliva however the episodes were quite serious in my opinion because when I wake it takes me a good few minutes to gain control and clear my airway. Its very upsetting when it happens because it requires a lot of effort to regain control of my breathing.
Avatar n tn i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
Avatar n tn If he has sleep apnea, it can usually be successfully treated with with a cpap machine, some try oral devices or surgery. Sleep apnea is worsened by alcohol. Sleep apnea causes progressive health damage and puts one at increased risk of cardiac problems and stroke. It puts one at increased risk of an accident, and robs of energy and mental acuity. It's also been reported to contribute to impotence and decreased libido, also problems with diabetes and high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn since using cpap machine started swelling in feet, ankles, hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.
