cpap

Avatar f tn The vertigo and tinnitus started acting up before I started CPAP, but problems with both have continued to increase since starting CPAP.
Avatar m tn Nasal CPAP at 11 cm reduced his RDI to 2.7. Lowest desat w/ CPAP was 91.
Avatar m tn His only medical history up to that point was that he developed migraine headaches a couple of years before the strokes, a history of peptic ulcer disease, and sleep apnea. He was using CPAP prior to the strokes without a problem. Since the strokes, the migraines are almost a daily occurrence (although he does take propranolol as a preventative med for them), he cannot tolerate the CPAP( we have had additional sleep studies and made changes to the CPAP without any improvement).
Avatar n tn I have hypopnea with hypoxia that causes me to become confused and disoriented when I don't use my CPAP. However, when I use my CPAP large amounts of mucous will build up in my throat, blocking my airway. I wake up choking. The mucous is yellow with streaks of blood in it. The pulmonary sleep specialists do not know what causes the mucous to fill up my airways. I do have esphogeal dymotility (cause undetermined) and no gag reflex.
Avatar n tn Can CPAP air entering through the nose pass up the tear ducts and exit the lacrimal punctum between the closed eyelids and the cornea/conjunctiva when sleeping? If this is the case, is there risk of long term damage to the lacrymal system and persistent tearing? My mask fits well, and my CPAP pressure is nominal (8.2), but every morning my eyes are invariably red and itchy, and the lids are a bit swollen.
Avatar m tn Pretty sure that I need BiPap instead of CPAP. The exhale pressure is too high on CPAP even with the EPR maxed at 3 and a setting of 7cm to 9cm. I've read that someone had anxiety on CPAP and switched to BiPap and it was fine. There are times when I feel so tired that I could faint. Has anyone had any similar crazy symptoms like this?
7193739 tn?1389094691 Is there a way to have the pressure turned down on a machine without seeing a sleep specialist or would there be any advice on how to help my ear to heal or at least do something to be able to wear the cpap at the volume it is currently set at? I was afraid ear plugs or something might cause more damage.
Avatar f tn The CT showed things with my semicircular canals are just fine and the ENT thinks that whatever is triggerin the vertigo is not with the ear and has referred me to a neurologist because of two things. First, I have a history of migraines (diagnosed in my 20s based on descriptions of headaches and family history) and second, the MRI findings include the language: There is mild chronic microvascular ischemic gliosis in the periventricular and subcortical white matter bilaterally.
Avatar n tn I have just got a CPAP machine and have had 3 nights with it. I've had sleep apnea for many many years and finally did something about it. My questions are for those who've been through the "getting used to it" process.
Avatar n tn I am constantly tired, I have sleep apnea and need to use a CPAP machine but I cant because of my sinus. Sometime my teeth hurt.I feel this has taken over my life I am waiting to see yet again another ENT I feel like I am going round in circles, there must be someone out there who can help me , PLEASE This discussion is related to Re: Acute sinus infection .
559187 tn?1330782856 I just got a call from my ENT who ordered a sleep study for me a couple weeks ago. She said that I need to do another sleep study and be put on CPAP as my results showed medically significant apnea. Ah ha, no wonder I am so tired all the time. I was hopeful that this time the apnea would still be in the mild range and i could avoid having to go to CPAP. I agreed with the doctor to try the CPAP and see if it will help.
Avatar m tn And of course I had sleep apnea and got a cpap... I lost well over 120 lbs, am at my ideal body weight and stopped the ritalin on my own since the "sleep attacks" pretty much stopped...that was 1 year ago and I now have all of the classic adult ADHD symptoms and it's really bad. I'm pretty sure that I had this ADHD thing all along and that the ritalin was controlling the ADHD symptoms as well as the former sleep problem. Is this possible?
Avatar n tn i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
Avatar n tn since using cpap machine started swelling in feet, ankles, hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.
439553 tn?1210776816 Will i more than likely get a CPAP mask to help me sleep? Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them? What do you think the possible treatment will be? i am just tired of being tired all the time. i want a normal life back!
Avatar f tn As of the past 2 days, the fatigue has begun to last the entire day in various amounts. I sleep with a CPAP and had a sleep test in October. My CPAP is new and has been checked to make sure it is operating correctly. My cardiologist appt. is the 20th. I don't know whether to be concerned in the meantime or not. It seems that some of the problems I've been diagnosed with have been discussed in this forum and are insignificant.
Avatar m tn He is on the max pressure that a CPAP can do as well as has an oxygen generating machine that he connects to the CPAP. He is probably 60 pounds overweight (5'6" 220 lbs) but has lost almost 40 pounds in the last two years (trying to be healthier). He's had high blood pressure for 30+ years and is on medication for it. He is prediabetic, but most recently his A1C was 5.1, so he is not medicated and that condition seems relatively stable.
Avatar m tn I am a relatively healthy 43 year old male. I have a family history of heart disease. I have been developed a wheezing within the last several months, whcih seems to get worse at bedtime (laying down). I have noticed some memory loss within the same time period (short and long term). I have also started snoring (quite loudly) something that I never used to do. I am also continually tired lately.. Within the past few days, I have developed a tingling sensation in my left foot/toes.
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
