461838 tn?1255790216 I googled hepc support groups in NC Raleigh, Winston Salem and Asheville showed phone numbers but couldn't get any websites. Winston would be an hour or so away, how is your groups format setup, is it anything like aa, I may have to visit a couple to check them out. I am trying to get away from so much driving cause I am trying to change my 25 minute drive hep dr. to a 1hr and a half drive location for more conciencous service and proficent service.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know of a chiari specialist in the Winston-Salem ,NC area. It could be just someone with a lot of experience in the field. I don't think any actual specialists are close to me. My 21 year old son was just diagnosed. His Neurologist, who just so happens to be my Neurologist, seems to be downplaying the whole thing. I know from my reading how serious this condition is. I hate this, because if I change doctors for him I will have to change for me also, too awkward.
Avatar n tn There is a pediatric Chiari specialist at Wake Forest in Winston Salem. Don't know anything about him. Dr. Oldfield is at UVA in Charlottesville VA. I was referred to him by A.S.A.P.

921053 tn?1245180795 Hi, I just had a great experience at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem NC. I have only had one appointment, but they were great. I am to be scheduled for a work-up. And just FYI - Sm and Chiari are rare diseases. My insurance company told me they will consider any doctor as in -network weather they are or not. The Doctor does not have to accept assignment, but the insurance company told me they will pay as if they are.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know of a Chiari Specialist in Winston-Salem N.C.? I was diagnosed in May of 2009. The PCP I was seeing moved to VA 8mths after I was diagnosed. since then i have been going through the ring trying to find a PCP who KNOWS let alone even AWARE of Chiari Malformation. I have been seeing Dr. Wofford for the last year when I first saw him he seemed to be interested in my condition, and willing to learn more about it.
746986 tn?1271725491 ) As far as my little Mickey D goes, we had to continue going back to Winston-Salem, NC for ultrasounds so that they could keep an eye on the fluid patch in his brain. BUT we went on July 13th and found out that everything is normal and there's no need to keep an eye on it anymore, so I am very relieved and so utterly happy I could hardly contain myself when the doctor told us he didn't have to see us anymore. (No offense to him, he was great.
591157 tn?1219285572 The next day I was admitted to the hospital and 3 days later I had a VP shunt put in...his name is Dr. John Porter out of Winston-Salem, NC and he is the best. Since then, I have had only a couple migranes but through continuation of medical treatment and yes still drugs at least the PTC is under control and YES I did have another child two and half years later and she was healthy. They just kept a closer watch on me during the pregnancy and of course during labor.
Avatar f tn The only thing I ever cared about. The case was filed in Winston Salem, NC. I finally settled--for nothing. Lawyers fees--etc...I have quite the story to tell. however, I know I am slowly dying. I have tried to contact---well, my husband has tried to contact Oprah-Ellen Degeneres-Dr. Phil...he is so angry. I don't care ABOUT THE PRESS. i JUST WANT TO ADMIT--i HAVE PTSD. I have denied it for soooo long. I want to get better. I refuse to go to face to face counselling.
Avatar f tn I had a two part aortic replacement in '05' and 2nd part in '06'. This was a surg. that very few people have heard of. Mine was done in Winston Salem with two surgery teams. Twelve & one half hrs. Dr. said he held my heart in his hands. I would love to hear from someone who has had this surg. done.
1578343 tn?1296251846 D., professor of pediatric urology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. "The bladder is a muscle just like any other," he says. "If she's been doing the potty dance all day, every day, she's constantly contracting her bladder." This makes the muscle thicker and the bladder's capacity smaller. Pretty soon, it'll start contracting with less warning and more force--and your kid ends up with wet pants.
359321 tn?1278268890 I will take you up on that Jen, I am in Winston Salem, NC - not too far from you!!!
Avatar m tn It was a glorious day beginning with driving to Winston-Salem where Matthew and I picked up my MRI films from 2003 and ending with Wake winning on the last play of the game! Yay! (pics of our day have just been loaded....) The biggie, though, is my appointment with the MS Specialist (MSS) on Wednesday. My fingers and all other cooperative appendages are crossed for a reasonable and straightforward appointment. I found out that my 2003 films were taken on a 1.0T machine.
Avatar n tn Trying to find the names of doctors who recognize and do resections to transverse processes associated with Bertolotti's Syndrome. I live in NC, and need to have this taken care of, or at least make an effort to resolve, or at least help with my spine. I have had fusions in the 1980's, but the pseudo-articulation of the transverse process of the lumbarized S1 segment is confirmed to be in contact with the ilium making the false joint.
