Cpap equipment use

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap equipment use

cpap

514349 tn?1272801633 I have not felt any better after using this equipment now for over a week, in fact I feel even more tired and now I wake up with a moderate headache. Is this normal? Do I need to use CPAP for a while before I am adjusted?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, the CPap machines need to be cleaned and primed and set specifically for the individual. I have a friend who has one and hasn't used it in about a year because she has to take it in to have it serviced and she has trouble remembering to take it - also her income is low and she doesn't have the funds to have it cleaned and primed. - She also needs to go to another sleep study to have it "set" to her individual needs.

Avatar m tn I too use a CPAP mask and have also have a problem with it causing pimples and other marks on my face not counting the fact that the mask lines remain on my face for many hours after making it awkward to go out in public where people do look at me wondering what I have done to myself I suppose. Who in heck needs to have deep ruts in their face for up to eight hours after getting up? I would rather not wear the mask at all rather than look like some kind of weird freak.
5466288 tn?1410485185 Thanks for replying.I was afraid that would be the answer.I do have sleep apnea, but due to moving and needing new mask and other equipment,I haven't been using my CPAP.
Avatar m tn coughing, sinus drainage), and you are using a CPAP/BiPAP machine then yes, it can be related if your not keeping your equipment clean. it can also cause headaches/migraines.
967168 tn?1477584489 ll leave the technicalities to someone else, but in general untreated apnea is not good for the heart, or any other part of your body. Whoever provided your cpap equipment should see you through whatever it takes to be successful if you keep going back to them. There are web sites dedicated to helping others with adjusting to cpap. Just sounds like your heart doesn't need the stress of sleep apnea, whether it is causing the problems or not.
Avatar m tn My current treatment has been 1) Breather for 6 months, helped a little at first with getting deeper sleep but overall sleepiness fatigue was not reduced. (Still Use) 2) Have had depression since teens, now 41, have been on lots of meds but currently on Cymbalta and it works well and I have no issues with it. 3) After much coaxing and test got doctor to give me Provigil, at first was wonder drug! For 2 months it was great and I thought I was cured. Now however it has seemed to stop working.
Avatar f tn t sleep well. Another went on to get a dental device as he was determined to not use CPAP. Says he sleeps fine, but every time I see him he's falling asleep. The 3rd was snoring again within a few months. My brother's coworker had the MMA and said it did help him a lot. Said it was barberic but worth it. Don't know if it got him off CPAP. For what it's worth, I had a lot of trouble with CPAP early on - even quit after a few months of misery.
5054005 tn?1362922551 My CPAP mask bothers me in the morning. I guess its when I start waking up a little and the mask will get a gap in it from the way I move and make a burping sound. Then that's it I cant go back to sleep unless I take it off. Anyone else?
1218873 tn?1300091216 I use a Cpap and in no way was ever going to use one, then the Dr told me about all the health problems as it relates to apnea. I have short term memory problems that may get better or might be related to the lesions. I fought with the cpap the first two weeks, and threw the mask off only one night.
648944 tn?1241469694 At the time of the diagnosis, I was tested, and then re-tested with the equipment. Apart from being surprised that the machine has lasted this long without service, I have wondered whether the settings done at the time of the diagnosis are still appropriate. Can anyone tell me: a) the normal useful life of a C-pap machine, and b) at what intervals should one normally be re-tested? Thanks!
9070037 tn?1414632966 Snoring very loud and feeling so sleepy in the afternoon, and while driving too! I dont know if I should use again the CPAP machine or not. If I do use it would this affect the baby?
461838 tn?1255790216 I discussed with my primary care doctor and ended taking an overnight sleep study at the local hospital (not low cost) and was diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea... this suggested use of a CPAP breathing mask, but I declined saying I wanted to lose a little weight, was not much overweight but the sleep specialist agreed that even a little weight loss may open my throat a bit at night. I lost about 10% of my body weight and no long have the symptoms, I have not been retested.
Avatar m tn Did you catch that I did a sleep study back in January and now have my very own CPAP machine ? I had talked to the neuro about my fatigue, waking with mild headaches almost every morning, and wanting to go to sleep at work or driving home. (fortunately I did neither). He ordered the sleep study, and sure enough apnea is a problem I have. This week, though, I have incredible fatigue going on, despite the CPAP help.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with insomnia for about six months. Initially, I was prescribed a combination of Remeron and Ativan to help me sleep. The side effects were fairly severe. I was going through my day very dizzy, and felt like I was in a dream state the whole day. I'm now taking only 30mg. of remeron and have been doing so for about two months. I'm getting some sleep, but my sleep is interrupted and I wake frequently during the night.

Avatar m tn The most common treatment and arguably the most consistently effective treatment for sleep apnea is the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. In addition to CPAP, a dentist specializing in sleep disorders can prescribe Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar m tn I recommend that he follow-up with his sleep doctor and give CPAP a try. Work with the sleep doctors and the equipment company to find a mask and device that works for him. I also recommend that he join and take part in support groups such as ones offered by the American Sleep Apnea Association (in person or on-line). Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn There is nothing that has shown up in any tests, that would cause such a thing, so I do wonder if the lungs CAN get too much moisture from CPAP. I use it for nigh time sleep as well as naps, so I get lots of use. So far, I can find no other explanation.
1767141 tn?1313678474 I forgot to ask: do you have a copy of your equipment order (prescription) for both the CPAP and for the APAP?
