Common Questions and Answers about Cow's milk allergy symptoms

milk

Avatar f tn Hello, As your child is showing rashes on touching of milk, this means he is allergic to milk proteins. Fortunately, most babies outgrow milk allergies by their second or third year. Babies who develop cow's milk protein allergy may have one or several of the symptoms like eczema or skin rash, abdominal pain or cramps, vomiting or diarrhea. I feel that you should consult an allergy specialist and get skin ***** or patch tests done.
Avatar f tn Over the last few years, I have noticed that I get migraine headaches and nausea quite often. This seems to happen when I regularly eat dairy products made from cow's milk. My doctor has not found any instance of tumors, so I am pretty sure that's not the problem. I have started eating more soy-based products, and it seems to help. I have not been diagnosed with any particular allergy just yet. Is it possible Is it possible to develop an adult onset allergy to cow's milk?
Avatar f tn For a nine year old, this is complicated. Goat's milk is milk, and though it's easier on the human body than cow's milk, it's still milk, so the question is why milk is being discontinued. A lactose intolerant person might very well still be lactose intolerant to goat's milk, for example, but someone who has digestive problems with cow's milk might not with goat's milk. There's also a taste issue.
Avatar f tn Recently diagnosed. Also been told I have a milk allergy. Live where alternatives to cow's milk are not available. Very depressed. Meds are working but already tired of water and apple juice. Is there hope?
Avatar f tn My 15 year old daughter was first diagnosed with lactose intolerance about two years ago. She has not eaten any dairy products at all since. We went back to the doctor this past August(we see a gastroenterologist) and told her that my daughter was not able to tolerate any milk at all. She never eats dairy unless it is by accident because she can most certainly tell if she has had milk. One time I bought Wonder bread and my daughter ate some.
20801560 tn?1512718136 Someone’s Suffer the stomach pain by eating milk. Someone's purple face itch by eating eggplant. Someone has an allergy to egg started eating stomach pain, these are all food allergies. It is also wrong to think that if the allergy is eliminated from eggplant, shrimp or cow's meat only. Because the food allergy is different from human body different food. What is about your food allergy?
Avatar m tn Remember that allergies are in the same category as autoimmune disorders. The things we're allergic to are not in fact generally harmful to us, though sometimes we are allergic to things that are harmful, such as cow's milk or toxins in our environment. If this is in fact an allergy problem, you want to try to tamp down or balance the immune system response, if you can do that.
Avatar n tn so i'm 24 and for as long as i can remember anytime i've had any milk or ice cream, it has always left a bad taste in my mouth. i have no problems with cheeses and yogurts. at school when given the choice of white milk and chocolate milk i always chose chocolate milk because it masked the bad aftertaste. i hated when my parents made me drink milk with meals. i never had digestive issues - bloating, gas, stomach aches, undigested food, etc - until about 6 or 7 months ago.
782550 tn?1333484257 Like wheat or gluten contains riboflavin which is found in milk also.So people allergic to milk may show allergy towards wheat also. This phenomena is called cross reactivity. Pls do not consume any form of dairy product. In addition to the avoidance of allergen in your diet, you can take some OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. They can relieve the symptoms. If your symptoms do not improve then pls consult an allergy specialist. You may need steroids or immunotherapy.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. We are due in to the doctor on Mon for his 1 year checkup and I will ask the dr about doing an evaluation. Are there any good alternatives to pediasure for children with cow's milk allergies. I am going to have him tested to verify his allergy is with cow's milk, but he recently broke out in hives.. which seemed to reappear when reintroducing the milk. This is the primary reason we put weaning on hold after beginning a couple of weeks ago.
470885 tn?1326329037 I started mixing formula and cow's milk at 11 months, never asked the dr, just did it on my own...and at 1 year I had Elijah on milk only. If you're breast feeding still *I* don't see a problem with you mixing breast milk and cow's milk to see if he'll take a bottle or sippy that way.
Avatar n tn My sister's sons have an allergy to lactose, and she says they get dark circles under their eyes when they have been drinking (cow's) milk. Maybe the child has an allergic reaction to something. That is easy enough to test by eliminating things from his diet one at a time for a few days.
Avatar n tn Diarrhea is a sign of intolerance. He may have trouble digesting cow's milk protein. You might have to take him to the Dr for formula recommendations. I'd either be soy or a formula that has partially digested milk proteins already. If you can start breastfeeding again i say go for it. Less of a hassle.
Avatar f tn I think my 3 yo may have a food allergy, but we have not pinpointed it. His bowel movements have not been normal since he started eating a lot of solids @ 12 months old (even before we weaned him from breast to cow's milk). I took him to the doctor for it once, and she said he keeps picking up viruses, which I don't believe because for one thing, my other 3 kids don't pick them up.
Avatar f tn If I was unable to breastfeed I woulkd give my little one goats milk fo rsure which is most like breast milk then any other milk on th emarket. Hope this helps ya!
Avatar n tn Do you mean mother's milk, or formula, or cow's milk? If mother's milk and he was before, see his pediatrician. If formula and you are not breast feeding, see his pediatrician. If he is not interested in drinking cow's milk but he will drink breast milk or formula, don't worry. It's too early for him to drink cow's milk anyway. But if you mean he is not eating anything at all, go right now to the doctor with him.
Avatar n tn Almost everyone is allergic to cow's milk. That's why mammals breast feed. When you don't or can't breast feed, one thing missing is the immune system building colostrum found in early breast milk. No formula is healthy -- they are just the best we can do sometimes.
Avatar f tn I am no medical expert but I would think it would be safe to start introducing regular milk to him. I would start either half and half (Half milk and half formula) in his bottle or try alternating between formula and milk. Have you introduced any other milk products to him yet? My son is lactose intolerant so it will be soy based milk when he transitions. I would try to contact your family physician about transitioning him onto milk as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn ((My 13 month old son has an array of symptoms that may or may not be linked to the fact that he has a large portion of his 5th and a smaller portion of his 16th chromosome missing. Right now, our geneticist just doesn't know what to expect as these exact deletions have never been reported.)) My son was breastfed for the frist 5 months of life, though on about 5 or 6 occasions he recieved formula with no adverse reactions.
1339680 tn?1276744901 My baby has been breast fed just for two months.after that we fed him on buffalo milk.but he passes stools frequently, usually whenever he is taking milk.now we are giving him cow's milk, but the situation has not changed much. Also he wakes up at night for feed, usually for 2 or more times.i want him to sleep through the night and also a proper stool passing schedule.
Avatar n tn Well, it's not me anybody is talking to, but in Chinese medicine milk just isn't used much at all. Dairy isn't considered food for adult mammals in any form of natural medicine, particularly cow's milk. It presents so many intolerance and allergy problems that can create anxiety and other problems, so generally when you see any practitioner of natural medicine they will advise against dairy and wheat just as a first step.
Avatar m tn My daughter has been battling with constipation since her infancy. The Dr. had changed her regular formula to soy and her constipation issues were gone. At the age of one when she was put on cows milk the constipation issues returned. After struggling with on and off constipation I had put her on soy milk at the age of 4. Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content.
